    Humor Me

I believe many of you will be surprised at our offensive sets, and general play calling. Ganz can run well. Really really well. It opened a whole new facet of the WC system.
  2. My ritual starts around 1 AM the day of the game. You can usually find me laying on the roof naked, pouring milk all over myself and howling to the moon. That goes till about 4 AM, which is when I smoke out my entire house with Salvia, and am lost in childhood memories of NU beating the crap out of multiple completely outmatched opponents. After my flashbacks end, it is usually close to 8 AM. From then I drink beer, play ping pong with anyone who wishes to lose embarrassingly, prepare the tray-o-deliciousness (Cheese, salami, crackers, the usual), and sit in front of the TV, soaking up every minute of pre game coverage.
  3. Yesssss!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let the Triple Option evolve! Or let our starting QB tear his ACL for no reason... Either or.
  4. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2200...?gid=7115274266 Evidently this is a contest now... Nebraska at #3?! Whatt?! I don't attend Nebraska, so all of you who do send out group invites to your friends, get everyone in that group.
  5. To be perfectly honest, yards and such really don't mean that much to me. I didn't care that we were giving up 600 yards. Things like that happen. We were still in the game. Hell, look at Colorado. We gave up what, 520 yards? But we were still right there sticking with them.. I just don't want us to be a bunch of pussies about it. I want some hard collisions, some aggression. We need to swarm the ball, and create some chaos. If the opposing team has to bleed for every yard they gain, I will consider our defense turned around, regardless of statistical rankings.
  6. Hahaha. I'm still cracking up about that one. We'll see what happens i suppose.
  7. I believe that the trick is reading only words with an odd number of letters in them... Its been about as intelligible as the full writing.
  8. I'll decide that once we get an OC and such hired. I want to see the rest of the staff.
  9. The Option will always work. People who say it is dead in this modern day of football are ridiculous. The Option puts sooo much pressure on the opposing defense its not even funny. They may stop the standard Triple option twice to the outside, Then the third we hand it to the fullback and he runs right up the middle for 20 yards. Its complex in how the defense has to adjust to it, But it is relatively easy to run. You can seal off the QB and the Fullback, but then the halfback will be open. You can seal all 3 off, then the play Action pass starts to work. The Spread uses this same basic principle, Have more choices then the defense can defend. Spread can be run from shotgun or standard formation, And can utilize anything from tight end posts to 4 receiver draws up the middle. Its just teaching all the plays and different formations of the spread that proves difficult in College. Some coaches can teach it in various ways and it sticks, some can't. There is only 4 years to grasp it, and its tough. You need to have players develop in the system in the same way the West Coast players have to, Just not as complex. The West Coast is the step up from the spread, and its just too complicated. When you have a QB that knows all the plays extremely well, IE Zac Taylor, It opens up everything entirely. But in the time it takes to learn the entire play book, the team will be one dimensional based on the QB's knowledge. The Option isn't like either of these. Its relatively easy to learn, There aren't a massive amount of complex plays to memorize, So players can usually step right in and play. Thats why it is so popular in High School football. It still has the ability to work at the College Level, the spread just seemed to work so well everyone else adopted it.
  10. Wait... What kind of offense would be running with the new O.C? Some sort of spread? I just want the damn triple option veer back That and the smash mouth blitz liberally defense. God, i want the huskers!
  11. Yes, they are memorable, but not in a good way. My idea of a Nebraska "memorable experience" is Tommie Frazier and Co. smashing Florida's face in during the '95 Fiesta bowl. This garbage team doesn't deserve my time, let alone a precious portion of my cranial capacity.
  12. The OC really doesn't matter to Callahan. Hes going to continue to run his ridiculously complicated and crazy plays, no matter what any of his assistants say. Its simply too complicated for a 1-2 year player. Callahan needs to completely change his offensive scheme, and success might follow.
  13. Alright, Defensively, wow. We start the game with a 3 down linemen, and 5 LB set. Thats a decent start against the Mizzou spread offense... Try and close up the middle of the field. I can understand that. They put up 20 points in the first half, And i'm waiting to see what adjustments are made at halftime. 3rd quarter, same exact thing. Literally no difference. Same zone from the safeties and LBs, same man Coverage from the corners, same everything. Why, Cosgrove, Why? Are you to retarded to figure out that your defensive plan obviously won't work, or too stubborn to admit it was a poor base defense and change it? Its ridiculous, this is the first game i have really actually noticed it. Have we done it in any other games? All the games? I just don't know what to think anymore.
  14. Oh yeah. We are actually stopping the run! But still have to remember its ISU. Eh, whatever, I dont care. A defensive smackdown today will show next week with really high spirits.. YEAH RUUUUUUUUD
  15. So, I noticed Tom Osbourne isn't up to much these days.... Pedey knows what to do....
  16. I only care about the sellout streak now. WE MUST KEEP THE RECORD ALIVE!
  17. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! WE HAVEN'T PRACTICED IN PADS SINCE PRESEASON? God no wonder our defense blows. We need some trench drills, full out contact scrimmages. Get the killer instinct back. Practicing without pads is ridiculous, It may help the offense and avoid injuries, but in the long haul it does nothing.
  18. Huskers 62 Ball State 35 or 0, i cant decide Our defense is either gonna come out pissed, and beat the living crap out of Ball State, or they are gonna come out with their heads down, and give up a ridiculous amount of points to a below average team.
  19. If they had done that to an Osbourne run team, I would acknowledge them. Against Cosgroves barely-blackshirt-worthy defense.... Whole different story.
  20. Thats another thing i noticed. Our Linebackers are making mistakes i generally only see in Junior tackle. They want the TFL, so they pick a gap and hope. That doesn't work against a counter attack like USC was using. We were picking gaps before the USC running back had the ball. He just chose a hole that wasn't filled, and with all the LBs (Except Octavian, they just straight up ran away from him, it was simple to see) stuck in the defensive line, there was nobody but Dbacks to make the stop. Just bad coaching, all there is to it.
  21. D end contain, Put the LBs in a zone Covering the off tackle gaps, Keep Mckeon in the middle to neutralize the dive, and man or zone coverage on the Receivers, Doesn't really matter which.
  22. Get rid of Cosgrove and I honestly don't think we will lose another game all season. We have the talent, we have the offensive firepower. With Cosgrove we will be very lucky to avoid another 2-3 losses and another mediocre bowl game. Yes some of you will say Coz needs to stay, he'll shape up. No he won't. Hes had 4 years to shape up, and he has done literally nothing in his time there. We need a good steady defense to win games, and I just don't trust Coz to get it done for us...
  23. I better see some bloodshed out of our LB's next week vs. USC. They are too good to be playing conservative, Coz needs to figure out he can blitz for days and days with that amount of skill, or he should leave and coach Jr Tackle.
