  1. I don't think anyone takes it personally, it's just that without TO, we probably don't have any national championships. He made the blueprint, and any time we've deviated from the Devaney/Osborne tree, we've had disastrous results.
  2. True. But those were much different than what we saw last week. Not sure that this offense has anything resembling what TOs offense did.
  3. We've had great quarterback recruiting. We just haven't had them pan out, for whatever reason(s). Great is a pretty generous way to describe our QB recruiting up until last year. I would say average at best. Recruiting is measurable by results, and by that token it's been 8 years of 2 guys basically accounting for pretty good QB play with almost no real depth behind them. Recruiting is measured by recruiting results, in which case I'm entirely comfortable calling it great. Tommy Armstrong Jr, Johnny Stanton, and Zack Darlington were all very highly regarded and were our #1 picks on top of our board. Yep. Had plenty of depth a couple years ago.
  4. What does this even mean?It means we found an extra year of availability for Bobby Newcombe!!!!! No...just...no. Bobby was a pretty good passer and had plenty of mobility, even after his injury. I'd be good with that.
  5. Fwiw, a poster on another message board who apparently watches practice said that Fyfe is by far more athletic than either O'Brien or Lee. Said Lee is a "statue" iirc.
  6. So, you'd like to run the "Tommy Armstrong Offense" with O'Brien, Lee, or Gebbia? With those options at QB, I'd like to see an average of 20 passes a game - take the game out of the QBs hands, as much as possible. Win "ugly" if you have to. We have a very weak schedule again next year. Take advantage of that to pound opponents into the ground and work play action off that. I know we are losing the dynamism of a mobile QB, and that's unfortunate. We have 3 teams next year that are currently in the top 8 in the country. How is that a "very weak schedule"? Ourl schedule will not be any more favorable than it has been the last 2 years. Running that "Daffy Duck" offense we saw Saturday will not lead to championships.
  7. Question: is it duck season in Nebraska? In certain zones, yes.
  8. Fwiw, they were saying Fyfe hurt his left hand or wrist on KFAB this morning. Status for Friday's game unclear for both he and Tommy.
  9. I happy for him. He had a nice game. Glad to get the win.
  10. Thanks for the info on RPOs guys. Guess I misunderstood what they actually are.
  11. Very much disagree. While Cav is still question mark, the OL has been about as good as we could have hoped considering injuries and all of the walk ons that bane been playing. His refusal to rotate in a couple of subs consistently has rightfully gained him criticism, and it has run off some guys. Thurston comes to mind. I'm not criticizing the OL play. I think it's been overrated and over criticized this year. I just also think it's pretty difficult to assess whether Cav is doing a very good job as OL coach. We'll know more in a couple of years. I'm willing to hesitantly give him the benefit of the doubt right now. But as you pointed out his OC hasn't exactly been doing him any favors.

  13. Bando was a 4* Army all American, Bray wasn't working with chopped liver there. I think with Bray, people expected big leaps like we had last year. We just didn't get it. That may have a lot to with losing 4 DLs early and playing some DTs who are a year away, and DEs who at this point are solid but not dynamic.

    Fo Fiddy

You're an official? Can you tell us why the B1G officials suck donkey balls?
  15. Fo Fiddy ain't going anywhere. He's Riley's boy. I liked Hawk, but I didn't get all of his references to RPOs. I thought RPOs were run pass options, but most of those plays looked like they were pass plays, no QB run involved.
  16. Wait...I thought that was Herpes? You nailed it. Read....the herps... one in the same
  17. I agree. But I bet that the Goofers fall short.
  18. Why not keep running our offense that is working very well?Like running Newby and Bryant?Like we continue to do? I thought we have thrown it more than run it today, yet the run has been there most of the game.
