  1. It was a while ago but I do know that Jonas Gray and Blaine Gabbert were committed to Nebraska when Callahan imploded. Solich was never a strong recruiter, and neither was Bo if memory serves. And Riley put the effort in but yes he wasn't producing the numbers by last year. And his prize recruit probably was a pipe dream anyway
  2. The promise of a good recruiting class hasn't saved a coach here ever
  3. One wonders if Nebraska would have put up with Dabo's first three years with his resume...
  4. After a few tries forcing it into double or triple coverage, I think the playbook got throttled back. Plus the line was doing him zero favors
  5. Boy if you hate passing schemes you better buckle up.
  6. You are correct. It wasn’t -all- Frost. That’s a fair point. But his staff, his boss and the media had taken great delight in kicking the dead. Which in my opinion is simply unneeded. If there was ever any coach or staff that could have said nothing to win over hearts and minds, it was them. And now it’s biting them back. Although they don’t look even remotely as ridiculous as the media, who spent a year hyping the man only to blame “distorted reality” after a shaky start. Anyway, it is what it is at this point.
  7. While there's probably some truth to it, its incredibly curious how the cancellation hasn't hurt Akron's start
  8. Theres still enough talent on the roster to beat Troy without a true freshman qb. Regardless of how electric he is
  9. The Troy game was a pretty big test of his play calling abilities with Bunch playing to help get him comfortable and to be productive. Results....weren't great. And there was a clear shift in play calling once it became apparent Bunch was hell bent on forcing the ball into double and triple coverage when he dropped back to pass. I don't think the game film will be very fun to review
  10. Yeah. There were some frightening breakdowns up front where Troy ripped off some huge gains.
  11. Frost can get the team competing for a championship without saying things like that to an all too eager media and fanbase. And, a head coach making what he makes has to show a little restraint towards the previous staff. It’s called professionalism.
  12. I dont think you understand. My point was the coaches are going to take a little grief and second guessing because they spent the off-season disparaging the old staff (which wasn’t needed and not very unprofessione) and saying ridiculousness like we were going to be in Indy so there’s no need for a 12/1 game. Even the athletic director was reveling in these activities. Remember when he said he thought Harbaugh and Meyer were losing sleep over the hire? Surely you think now, a week out of Michigan, a walk-on potentially starting that game, after a loss at home to a sun belt team, that seems like poor choices to make?
  13. I’m not talking about here. I’m talking about the staff.
  14. Thats all fine but this goes back to the false bravado that has been spewed for months. Even our coach was saying he didn’t want to re schedule on 12/1 because this team could be in Indianapolis. You’re going to take some abuse for that when you lose to a sun belt team at home.
  15. I didn’t say they were identical. But since you like the differences I reccomend you look up the turnover margin, Byu’s record that year and what Riley did against the sun belt team the following week.
  16. Eh. I don’t think he’s in any way Nebraska’s “last hope”. It will certainly sting if he can’t get it done, but the money and resources Nebraska pumps into its program will always attract someone. Either way, it’s probably a little early to be having that talk two games in
  17. Maybe no one is saying it’s “fine” but I think there’s a post or two in here saying it’s “not as bad as it looks”
  18. In 2017 UCF lost 15 fumbles and ints combined to gaining 32. I don’t know if 15 is “a lot” but I do know we are on pace for over 25 for the year (and yes I know “on pace is a somewhat silly stat) I’m not looking to argue with you or anyone. I’m just finding humor in people telling everyone why this is more or less fine when any other coach wearing the N would have a lot of unease hovering around him. Every Nebraska fan is a Scott Frost fan. But Frost the coach has had his cape ripped off so far and it’s a little curious if not disturbing.
  19. Those bets are off if that game isn’t played. You’ll get your money back.
  20. There was a direct response to what I said saying this was “Riley’s mess”. Which I reiterate is weird because none of the biggest offenders in the turnover department are Riley Guys.
  21. I was responding directly to a guy who said he wanted Riley out after BYU 2015.
  22. I don’t know if Riley would be 0-2 or not. He was fired, he performed poorly enough to be fired and he was. Blaming him for this start seems a little far flung when it seems to be consensus that our turnover margins have cost Nebraska their first two games and the people who have committed them, Adrian Martinez, Bunch, Bell, et al, aren’t Riley guys. That’s not a previous staff/culture thing. That may exist, but there’s been no shortage of roster turnover and talk of buy in that the “fix what Riley broke” trope seems forced.
  23. The irony here is hilarious. The same guys who were calling for Riley's head after the BYU game are now preaching "patience" and claiming that the Nebraska Way pixie dust will take time to work. Daily Reminder: When you: 1.) are one of the top-paid coaches in America; 2.) were given a blank check to hire anyone you wanted for assistant coaches; and 3.) needlessly spent your offseason taking cheap shots at the previous staff ...people are going to question your efforts after you open 0 - 2 including a loss to a Sun Belt team. No one expects you to win a conference championship this year. But when your team comes out flat and uninspired after taking a loss to Colorado...
