  1. I expect Mike Bobinski to move Heaven and Earth to try and get P.J. Fleck. I'm also on record (tongue planted firmly in cheek) with Bo will be the next coach at UK...high profile brand, program is decimated, he could be the hero, and he is gets back into the SEC.
  2. I don't quite understand why Iowa would "Clearly" be favored. What am I missing? I feel like we're getting granular unnecessarily, but I will oblige. A) I think Iowa beats Wisconsin. B) I think Nebraska gets beat at Madison and beat badly in the Horseshoe (hope not, as I'll be there). C) Ergo, I think the game is fairly even, and the game being in I.C.IA gives them the edge in Vegas.
  3. I said going into the Nebraska game, so we are excluded. Yes, I think they are beating Wiscy in Iowa and Penn State, and losing to Michigan. Iowa is going to beat Wiscy? Have you SEEN any Hawkeye games this year? I..I can't stop laughing. Iowa will be lucky to get to 7 wins this year. As far as honesty, NU should be favored in every game left on the schedule except UW/OSU. There's no way Iowa is favored, even with it being at home. Yes. Yes Hope you're right. Okay. We'll know in 6 days...I think Iowa wins on Saturday. If I'm reading between the lines in your very subtle post, you think Wisconsin draws and quarters them. One of us will be wrong. Certainly might be me.

  5. Sitting here at 6-0, with 7-0 all but a mathematical certainty, would 9-3 really be a "great season"? I want to see these "power polls" and get worked up when an undefeated Nebraska team is nowhere near the Top 10, but honestly, I find myself agreeing with them. Taking it a step further, I think both Iowa and Nebraska will be 6-2 in Big 10 play heading into the game at Iowa City -- which the Hawkeyes will clearly be favored in. If we go 9-3 and don't make the Big 10 Championship game, are we doing cartwheels? I'm not. I'm thrilled it isn't the heart-breaking debacle that last season was, and I'm not holding this team / program to a mid-90's level of accomplishment, but I'm just not sure a 2-3 finish and no Big 10 Title game is going to feel all that hot given where we'll be standing (7-0, top 6-8 in America...although I think that ranking is fraudulent) a week from today. I'm I just being uncharacteristically pessimistic? Should I be drinking more of the Kool-Aid?
  6. They are expecting 50,000 in Bloomington on Saturday (it is their Homecoming...separate issue...completely insulting), and I will be shocked if at least 15,000 of them aren't in black (or whatever color we are wearing). I'm really looking forward to it, we bought tickets on the secondary market, we aren't in the Nebraska section, but I'm sure we won't be the only ones in our section throwing the bones.
  7. How could you be a fan of college football and not have known who Mike Riley was? He wasn't coaching at Willamette folks, he was in the Pac 10(12). I thought he was a "safe hire" when he was hired, and I think he is a "safe hire" today. Is he a class act who I'm proud to have leading by team, sure, but I'm not yet convinced he is capable of raising the program to a level where they can compete year-in and year-out with Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, etc. Hope he is...but not yet convinced he is.
  8. I think Wisconsin gets hammered this weekend in the Big House, so it becomes a moot point. Now, if we can somehow jump around in Madison, get a win, and head to the Horseshoe at 8-0...now you've got something.
  9. I think Kirk is great at what he does, and sadly, he was right. We will have a great chance to make him wrong in Madison and Columbus in a few weeks, keep winning games we should and getting better.
  10. I can't wait to make the short trip to Bloomington!!
  11. I'm more bothered by the comments from the mouth-breathers below the article in the original post. Clearly no IQ test to post in a newspaper comment section. The name-calling is about as sophomoric as it gets.
  12. I learned Tommy can throw the ball in exactly the right spot, which I haven't always felt was the case. I learned that Tommy has every intangible I want in my QB, and some of the tangible ones too. I learned that I still believe we are susceptible to outside speed, and that our back 4, while improved, may still be a spot that bites us down the road. I learned that Mike Riley can actually beat Oregon. While I still don't love him, nor the hire, you have to give him credit for staying the course in that game, playing aggressively when it was warranted, and getting a very big home win over a good (not great) Oregon team. The more I heard Howard and Herbie slurp on the Ducks on Gameday, the more I liked our chances. I learned that a TD just before the half can potentially change a season. I think that TD (and the punt return that set it up) may very well have changed the 2016 Huskers' Season. I learned that scoring a TD to open the 2nd half can put a HUGE shot in the arm into a football team, and a football stadium. Memorial sounded CRAZY LOUD when they capped off that opening 2nd half series with a TD to take the lead. Loved it. I learned that Oregon, regardless of the coach, continues to be too cute and continues to out-smart themselves. I learned that the Blackshirts are back! Let's beat the tar out of Northwestern this week and keep it rolling!!
  13. Are we wearing our regular gear for this game or is Adidas doing something dumb since NIKE's uniform-junkies are coming to town?
  14. I'm going to the Nebraska at Ohio State game on November 5th and am psyched. Hopefully my son and I get out of there alive.
