Will be a big group of Husker fans watching this at a local Cincinnati bar -- I know the start time isn't ideal for you that will be in attendance, but the occasional Noon start for those of us in the Eastern Time Zone is nice.

I watched more of that than I'm proud to admit. Also, we ran a surprisingly high amount of no-huddle for a team with some serious depth issues.

Are we going to pay them another seven-figure buy? I can't imagine that. Akron already got paid, what is in it for them to come play for free a 2nd time? Nothing. I don't see any resolution that makes sense other than an 11 game regular season, and hope we can claw 6 wins out of those 11 to give Coach Frost and his staff some much needed December practice time with the young team.

31-10 feels about right. I think the offense will have a few missteps along the way as the youngster finds his way, and the defense has one mis-communication and gives up a big play as a result. I will have a house full of people and can't remember the last time I was so excited for a game, let alone one occurring before Labor Day.

Maybe I'm still riding some wave of optimism as the season approaches, or maybe I'm just old enough to remember what it was like to be the bully, but I think it is highly unlikely that anyone (including the vaunted Buckeyes) rolls into Memorial and pastes us. A 35 point HOME loss? Honestly, I can't even let myself get to that point on July 20th. I just don't think this Nebraska team is going to be THAT bad, I really don't.

Iowa is not a team to be taken lightly. They have a good head coach, and a very tough defense. We have struggled with good defenses this year. You dont look past Iowa, ever. Ask Michigan. Correct, and when I suggested they'd be favored over us a month ago I was roundly mocked. Yet, lo and behold, here we are and the Hawkeyes are giving points. Maybe I'm missing something, but us just expecting to roll through Iowa on Friday seems foolish to me. They can, and certainly may, beat us. Although I obviously hope they don't.

Because what else could PSU do? Not lose two games in September.

Currently -7 with an O/U of 48.5 about everywhere. Do NOT feel comfortable that the Huskers will cover that. Don't love the over, either.

Just so I'm clear, Tanner Lee can only play one season (2017), right? He redshirted in 2013, played in 14 and 15, is sitting in 16...so you get 5 to play 4, unless he gets a waiver (that would seem unlikely to me from my experience), he can only play one season for the Huskers. He would be draft eligible, if he chooses to go that route, but I can't imagine his stock could be any lower having not played for a season. Sounds like he'll play for one year, POB will back him up next year, then POB will have up to 3 years to lead the team. Am I missing anything on this?

ESPN's Thursday night ratings are HORRIBLE. Will be interesting to see if their ratings on a Friday night, with no competing NFL game, will be better. It's not the NFL driving down their ratings it's just the fact the games usually suck. For gods sake the Titans played the Jags last Thursday. Get better games and the ratings will go up. Top tier programs don't want Thursday games for all of the reason listed above in this thread, and that Titans / Jags game actually did a great number as compared to the highest rated College game of the year on any network in any time slot (Louisville at Clemson). Thursday night ratings have steadily declined for years, the quality of the games haven't changed much. The highest rated Thursday game this year was Houston at UC when Houston was still in the Top 10 -- and it did a paltry 1.33 (about 2.1 million homes) (ironically, that highest Thursday night rating of the year was, I believe, on NFL's opening game). The lowest rated Thursday night game was the brush-fire of Temple at Memphis, which pulled in a .4. Brutal. I don't think Alabama is going to okay a Thursday night tilt any time soon. For conversation purposes, Nebraska at Wisconsin did a 2.15 this past Saturday (the 4th highest viewed game on Saturday). The highest rated was the 3.2 that Clemson at FSU brought in on ABC.

I just saw that Ohio State is wearing a throwback uniform this week (frankly, they are really solid), and they are Scarlet and Gray jerseys, so while I now know we are wearing white, are we wearing our traditional white uniforms or are we also doing some alternate / throwback look?

I think we are going to be really, really good next year (combined with the odd year favorable home schedule), and I don't think there is any way that Riley matches Bo's record in his 7 (wasn't it 7? 2008-14?) years. Forget more wins, I can't imagine he even matches it, especially with a 6-spot hung on the board last year. Do people think Riley's record will be better than Bo's? Wow...didn't even think that was a thing.

I have a program that I created for my weekly playing that adds in several ratings / factors to spit out what the line "should" be, then I bet lightly or heavily based on the variance from the "should be" line and the actual line. In this case, I think Nebraska should be getting 15, and I can get it right now at 17, so I'm likely going to lock that in with the free (in my system's opinion) 2 points. I will add, I work in Cincinnati with a TON of tOSU fans, and they are not the least big confident about this game. I can't get any of them, and they are usually UK-basketball-level homers, to even bet lunch on the game with the current line. All of that said, I think they figure it out and we get boat-raced, and if so, my son and I will be leaving before the joint empties after the game. Still not convinced taking an 11 year old to that joint is my father-of-the-year moment.

I attended 3 Nebraska at CU games in the 90's...never had an issue. Folsom Field is stunning, I loved going there for games. I'm going to the Ohio State game next weekend and am genuinely concerned about taking my 11 year old son with me. My buddies who are Buckeye fans said it will be fine...but...don't let him go into a restroom without you. Umm..what? God, I loathe tOSU. Boulder is gorgeous just had problems with some fans when I was younger. Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin are 3 of the stadiums I just have to experience. Ugh, the level of conversation over there is incredibly low. Sophomoric nicknames make me laugh, too. I hate Wisconsin; respect them, but hate them. I'm not optimistic...but I'm awfully hopeful.

I'm officially in look ahead mode for the next two weeks. I can own it.
