  1. Haha. I just meant that at the time, I didn’t care what his ratings were because everything about him, from his film to his quickly growing offer list, suggested he was better than a 3-star. Looks like 247 updated their rankings and he’s now a 4-star and USC wants him. Big time player.
  2. Clemson just offered. Sounds like he was a mid 3-star TE with decent offers until he made the switch to LB and now he’s blowing up.
  3. Probably unrelated to this, but Shaun King has some unfortunate, UNL related tweets going on right now and I saw an Oregon fan on twitter mentioned one of our recruits in one of them and then deleted it after a little while. I don’t know that it’s appropriate to post the tweets here.
  4. Wiltfong had always maintained that Ohio State didn’t have enough room for JJB, which is a major reason he had him coming here. If a spot opened up, it stands to reason that Wiltfong would flip his pick. I get what you are saying, but recruiting is so fluid. And it’s not just recruits (and their families) who change their minds, coaching staffs do as well.
  5. I expect them all to play and likely start. Just that it might take until year 2 for them to be fully comfortable at this level of play. JUCOs add the benefit of being more physically ready to play than most freshmen, but they still have to adjust to the speed of Power-5 football just like freshmen do.
  6. Some of these guys will still need a year to adjust to the game. I expect big production in 2019, when they’ve been in the system for a full year and are playing at full speed. Not that we can’t expect contributions this year or anything, just that it’s not panic worthy if it takes some time. It’s why JUCO transfers only make sense if you can bring them in in January in my opinion. Any later and it’s almost like wasting a year and a scholarship.
  7. I recognize his last name, he has a brother or maybe two who played for TCU? Not the biggest safety ever but he has impressive film and a great offer list.
  8. Following Tago’s recruitment, I think it’s pretty clear he has his heart set on offense. And I think he’s an intriguing prospect there. But I think he has next level instincts and frame for defense. After a RS year, and maybe a second year in the S&C, I think he’d be all-conference material at either OLB or ILB. Best of luck to him, but we have to be really picky with our spots at this point and it’d be a mistake to bring him in on offense and then have him transfer away if it didn’t work out and he didn’t want to switch to defense. I got you with some up-votes on 247 Matty, no idea why you got down voted.
  9. That’s not a 3-star offer list. Even the smaller offers like Colorado and Utah are great offers from a DB standpoint. Have to imagine he’s due for a big time ratings bump haha.
  10. Love his film. Would take his commitment in a heartbeat.
  11. Received a Florida offer today. Seems like a guy who can be a matchup nightmare and help our tempo since he can line up in the backfield or be motioned out into the slot.
  12. Fair posts all around. I like the Cal, Pitt, and Vandy offers. I think Rogers is properly rated, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. He needs to put on a lot of weight to play in a 3-4, but he has the length to really be disruptive and I trust that the coaches believe he has the frame to put on the weight. If he was 20lbs heavier, he’d probably be a 4-star and more ready to contribute right away. That’s not to say that he won’t be ready after a good RS year.
  13. Their DC was a stud, no question. I don’t think their OC has done anything really though and I’m surprised he got another Power-5 job as a coordinator. I didn’t realize they lost him but that might be an upgrade for all I know, they finished pretty low in offensive ranks last year. I don’t know enough about them to say definitively one way or the other. I do think they have a pretty good head coach - I knew about him back when he was coaching in California and I have been hoping someone else would hire him away so I could cheer for him again. That all said, I’m not trying to compliment Colorado as much as I’m saying it would be a good, early season win for our new staff. Looking forward to kicking their teeth in!
  14. Would probably be my favorite recruit after Honas and Martinez. Big time offer list and the G5 programs on it all know what they are doing with OLine. Very glad to hear that we are in the driver’s seat.
  15. Listed at 6’1” on Rivals and he has a really good offer list no matter what teams are still pursuing him. Love that we are recruiting him as an athlete. Seems like the type of guy who would have beat Auburn as a player for UCF this year.
  16. I actually think Colorado will end up being a pretty good OOC win for us from a national perspective next year. They won 10 games two years ago with really bad recruiting classes and have since upgraded that from looking at Rivals and 247. I think they’ll beat up the teams in their bad conference and end up with like 8 wins and it will help our playoff bid I’ll be at the game.
  17. I’ve never been super high on Wildeman. Not to say that he won’t be good, or even great, for us. Just nothing about him screams 4-star to me. Very meh offer list where the best DLine offer on it came from Iowa way too late which was seen as an insult to a legacy. Played against weak competition. I also view him as a tweener in our system and think he’s better suited as a 4-3 DE. I am wrong a lot, so I understand if anyone takes issue with my post. I’m certainly not trying to bash a kid, especially one who is all about Nebraska. I just view him more as a mid 3-star and I was surprised that he got such a ratings bump.
  18. Love this guy as a LB prospect, I could see him playing all over the field there for us. Intrigued that we are looking at him as a QB too though. Definitely an athlete and could easily see him fitting in on offense for us.
  19. Still #47 on Rivals. ESPN is really helping our composite, they have us all the way up to #32. I think this class is somewhere in the middle of that, which is what the 247 composite accounts for. Some big time upside, a couple of under the radar players, and some immediate help through the JUCO ranks. I think there’s one guy who is probably a tad overrated in our class, but I think it’s balanced out by a couple guys who deserve even more of a ratings boost. Easy to see why there’s a lot of randomness in this area of the recruiting rankings year to year. Comes down to coaching and we have some of the best!
  20. I think both sides are fair. I think it makes a lot of sense to trust Frost and to trust the people Frost trusts. I’m not entirely sure that everyone on his staff deserved major raises, but we will find out quickly if anyone isn’t qualified/pulling their weight. It feels like a situation where in two years, we all look back and say, “well, obviously he shouldn’t have brought his entire coaching staff with him.” Or it could work out just fine - Frost has already achieved success as a head coach and knows what he’s doing. Either way, I think it’s important that we have the unpopular discussions about things like this so that we aren’t blindsided like we were with this season.
  21. Michigan State will be stacked with returning talent next year. That’s going to be a really tough game leading up to Iowa on the road to end the season. I’ll go with a conservative 7 wins where I would be pleasantly surprised with more than that, but not that surprised. Colorado and Troy will give us good insight into how the rest of the season will go as they are far from cupcakes, but they are must-win home games.
