  1. That was my first Husker football game. We had seats in the south endzone. Cold as hell - I've never liked hot drinks (hot chocolate, coffee, etc.), so 7 year old me was drinking ice cold Coke to add to the chill. My favorite game has to be NU vs Wisconsin on No Sit Sunday in 2014. Great atmosphere. I wish we could get that kind of atmosphere in PBA all the time.
  2. TV/Online: Monday's game is not televised, but will be available online at B1G Plus with Jessica Coody and Erick Strickland on the call. To subscribe or for more info, visit bigtenplus.com (straight copy/paste from huskers.com).
  3. It's game day. ESPN BPI gives The Huskers a 96.5% chance to win. No line that I can find. Line is NU by 21.5 with an O/U of 142.5.
  4. ESPN preseason BPI out. Huskers at #53. 2023-24 Big Ten Men's College Basketball Power Index - ESPN
  5. I prefer "geek" or "dweeb" thank you very much.
  6. I am an accountant and it's hard to tell much from a memo. To really understand what was going on we would have to see everything (or at least enough information to actually audit their books) for all the years. It looks like there were some unusual practices but most athletic departments run in the red and have to get money from the general fund + fund accounting is a completely different animal from regular accounting. I think the most concerning part for me was that any expense over $1000 had to be approved by the "Athletics Cabinet". That seems like a very small amount for an organization with the amount of revenue they have. I get that they want to get expenses under control, but that is a very low threshold.
  7. They shouldn't need him for the first few games. Better to make sure he's 100% than to rush back.
  8. Definitely not broken. He walked to the bench for the second half without crutches or a brace. Hopefully it looks worse that it was.
  9. Change in the NIT qualification rules. No NIT automatic bids for regular-season conference champs - ESPN NIT changes format: No automatic bids for regular-season champions, power conferences to get first 12 spots - CBSSports.com
  10. I live near Millard North. Maybe I should find a few of their athletes and beat the crap out of them with a blunt object.
  11. Looks like there will be a few players missing the Doane game on Sunday. Nebraska's Rienk Mast victim of 'random act of violence' (omaha.com)
  12. CBS Sports released it's top 100+1 teams for 2023/24. Nebraska at 75. Penn State & Minnesota the only B1G teams not in it. Purdue - 1 Michigan State - 11 Illinois - 18 Maryland - 23 Ohio State - 32 Wisconsin - 33 Northwestern - 43 Rutgers - 45 Indiana - 46 Michigan - 62 Iowa - 79 Only NC teams in it are Creigton at 7, K State at 26 & Duquesne at 97
  13. With all the debate about who is the better QB (Sims or Haarberg), at least when HH drops a shotgun snap he falls on it and lives to run another play & JS tries to pick it up and make a play but never actually does so.
  14. I'm sure it's a cost thing. Big schools like those in the B1G can easily afford them, but the smaller schools - especially the FCS teams that FBS teams play can't afford it.
  15. So you're the reason Fox used to run a show called "When Animals Attack".
  16. He is definitely still healing from his ankle surgery. We probably won't need him until we start playing B1G teams. Against most of the teams in our NC slate we should be able to use Mast/Allick/Gary as our 4/5 rotation.
  17. With there being 20 days until the first game that counts + they have a "secret" scrimmage with Utah on Saturday, it's time to guess starting lineups. PG - Lawrence/Coleman - whichever doesn't start will likely be the first off the bench most games. I'm guessing Lawrence will win the starting job. SG - Tominaga SF/Wing - Williams PF/Wing - Gary C - Mast PG - Coleman/Lawrence SG - Wilcher SF/Wing - Lloyd/Rice PF/Wing - Allick - he will probably be the first "big" off the bench. C - Keita Hard to figure out between Lloyd & Rice. Rice was impressive in Spain this summer & not much was said about Lloyd. Rumors were that Lloyd looked really good in practice while he redshirted last year. I'm sure Hoiberg will be in the rotation. Jacobson might find his way into the rotation based on his performance in Spain. Wouldn't be surprised to see Diop redshirt. Ulis will sit until the NCAA decides what to do with his gambling issue. Based on what NCAA rules are and what he's admitted to, I'd be shocked if he ever plays college basketball again. Grace & Burt will probably only play in mop up situations.
  18. At least the two December conference games aren't virtually unwinnable like the last several seasons. MSU will be tough, but at Minnesota should be winnable. Only three weeks until Lindenwood...
  19. Was just going to point that out. That puts them 11th in the B1G. Purdue #1 MSU #13 Illinois #19 Wisconsin#20 Marlyand #22 OSU #35 Michigan #44 Indiana #49 Iowa #50 Nebraska #58 Rutgers #59 Penn St #85 Minnesota #112 Only two NC matchups matter: Creighton #12 K-State #25 Third best NC team is Duquesne at 89. Even Oregon State is only at 175 (one place behind Cal State Fullerton). If they don't go at least 9-2 in NC, it could be a long season. NC average is 207, conference average is 45.
  20. ESPN has graded the 46 D1 transfer QB's. Sims got a D-. Grading 46 college football quarterback transfers in 2023 - ESPN For comparison Logan Smothers got a B- & Casey Thompson got an incomplete.
  21. I didn't go to HS football games when I was in HS. I ran cross country, so we always had a meet on Friday or early Saturday AM. If our meet was Friday, I was too tired to watch the football get their a$$es kicked and if it was Saturday I had to be up at 5 or 6 AM so I could eat something before the meet.
  22. If he can get the distribution side of playing the point, it will be nice to have a player that can shoot playing that position.
  23. It would be nice if that happened. I think the NC schedule is set up to give the team confidence. Other than the Creighton & K-State games they are all easily winnable. I'm not sure what K-State has this year, but it's in Manhattan and will be Sunday after finals week where practices will be shorthanded/inconsistent because of player availability.
  24. The only preseason computer predictions I can find are at Bart Torvik. He has Purdue at 15-5, MSU at 13-7, Illinois, Wisconsin, Maryland, Indiana, Northwestern & Ohio State at 11-7, Nebraska & Iowa at 10-10, Rutgers at 9-11, Michigan at 8-10, Minnesota at 5-15 & Penn State at 4-16. Have fun figuring out the tiebreakers for third if that happens. It looks like it will be a lot like last year - a couple of teams at the top and bottom and a big cluster in the middle.
