  1. College football is a multi-billion dollar industry where the key employees were not getting paid. It was always going to move this direction as the billions kept pouring in. TV changed it all. Not saying it's right or wrong, just that it makes sense. Honestly it has me more interested in the NFL than I ever have been. NFL football is obviously better ball, contracts/draft means players are with teams for multiple years, competitive balance is much better.
  2. Unreal how many people I know that currently have COVID, definitely more than any point in the pandemic. One of the docs I work with was planning an event for February, I asked him why he would plan a large in person event - his thinking is omicron will rip through the community and settled down again by the end of the month.
  3. This years portal has been pretty crazy but it just hit a new level!
  4. Sip just said Chubba was N on the radio haha, don't think he meant to break the dude's news.
  5. Kinda feels like the beginning of Williams -> USC, Thompson -> Oklahoma. I could see Cam Ward ending up at Washington St to join his OC. That might free up WSU's P12 Freshman of the Year QB. I know a husker 247 writer said they weren't getting a lot of feedback from portal QBs, most have their next move planned before the portal. Seems like Chubba and wait for more dominos to fall is this staff's move as it stands.
  6. Williams is in the portal...Thompson will probably be OU bound.
  7. An Oklahoma writer said Thompson would be in play at Oklahoma if Williams leaves. So it's possible we are looking for an experienced arm that's not Thompson at this point. But agreed, would be pretty meh.
  8. Sean Callahan only brought up Purdy and Thompson today as options. Feels unlikely we have an under the table agreement with a QB who is still in a bowl as most bowls are done and why would you wait at this point.
  9. Starter who was lost in the shuffle after he was injured. Looking to start again.
  10. We used Wandale around the LOS. He was a nightmare at the 2nd level today. It was fun to watch a B1G defense try to chase him around. Oh what could have been.
  11. He’s putting on a show. Absolute nightmare in space.
  12. Correction, hospitalizations less than half of last winter's wave***
  13. London COVID cases may be peaking. Hospitalizations rising, still not half of the delta wave. Patients on vents has remained steady and low. Still hopeful this wave will be manageable.
  14. Ducker has one offer, to Memphis. Also hearing from FSU, Florida and UCLA - but they haven't offered. Nebraska and Iowa not recruiting him hard. Per Evan Bland at OWH.
  15. Dudes a freshman with 58 career pass attempts. He's basically Smothers, good recruit, unknown if he will be a good power 5 QB.
  16. Covid exposed and sped up an issue that was here before covid. Hospitals have always been short staffed. We survived, but at my Hospital triage was the name of the game every flu season because we didn't have the staff to adequately care for everyone. Snowball effect took place when you have even more people being hospitalized, higher acuity, means more burnout, means more quitting, means more short staffed and on we go.
  17. Games can be rescheduled, cancelled or considered a forfeit. Also you have to have 7 players and a coach to compete, but you can also compete with less than 7 - also you can say it's still too unsafe to play with more than 7. Thanks Kevin, bang up job clearing things up for everyone.
  18. FWIW 247 writer said (behind a paywall) we are the front runner for Thompson, but its not over.
  19. Burrow had proven nothing when he walked onto LSU campus. That’s the reason we passed on him. Maybe Frost now sees the value in options at the QB position. Having two highly rated guys battle it out for the starting job is much better than handing it to one guy.
  20. Yep there’s a reason Saban processes guys every year. But god forbid we bring in another 4 star to compete for our open QB job and it possibly displaces a guy that never plays.
  21. We offer walk ons who barely contribute every year because we have unused scholarships, bringing in multiple QBs to compete for the most important job on the team seems like a better use to me…
  22. The way people talk about not wanting to bring in QB talent, is weird to me. It would be really weird if people said “let’s not bring in another WR, we already have Alante Brown, or let’s not bring in another kicker, we already have Culp”. We have zero proven pieces at QB - we should be trying to stock that room with talent.
