  1. Yeah - Gus Malzahn, Hugh Freeze, Tom Herman... guys who are trying to bounce back.
  2. I live in Baton Rouge, and I can tell you firsthand that he's currently on LSU's short list. As a poster pointed out, why would Kiffin go to NU when he turned down Fayetteville where he actually spent school time at?
  3. Exhibit A (gives you a perspective from a national perspective, without the scarlet and cream glasses): https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/more-sports/nebraska-targeting-lane-kiffin/99014451/
  4. Premier coaches aren't looking for an easier way. They have bigger aspirations. He wants to be the king of the SEC, whether it be at Ole Miss, LSU, or Alabama (because he's currently on LSU's short list, not to mention he'll be on Bama's short list when Saban retires). He was born here but he really has no other connection.
  5. No offense but people would think Kiffin is crazy if he leaves Ole Miss for Nebraska. Don't get me wrong: I'd love a coach like Kiffin, or Campbell, or Aranda, or Fickell, or Stoops. I just think the chances of that happening are extremely unlikely. Our best chances are with: A) a young up-and-comer like Chadwell who's looking to take a the next step; or B) a guy trying to rebound from a failed first attempt, like Tom Herman.
  6. Aranda is another guy who will be able to pick and choose where he wants to go. He's on LSU's short list. I think some people overrate Nebraska as a coaching destination. It doesn't carry the prominence it once did.
  7. I think it would. It's a very difficult scheme to defend because no one else runs it. I mean he was able to get Coastal Carolina into the Top 20 with it. Let me repeat that. COASTAL. CAROLINA. Not to mention with that offense they'd be recruiting guys that many other schools wouldn't. It would make Nebraska a destination for kids who run similar offenses in HS, and would would help alleviate our recruiting disadvantages. Passing plays a significant role in the offense. Last year, their QB for the season was 172/250 for 2488 yards. So far this year he's 116/158 for 2063 yards. They pass quite a bit.
  8. Campbell and Fickell will be able to pick and choose where they want to go. It won't be Nebraska. Chadwell should be #1 priority. There aren't too many places that would embrace the option offense that he runs, but Nebraska is the #1 place that would.
  9. These kids want to go to the school that gives them the best shot at going to the NFL. Nebraska isn't it. Rattler will end up at another top-tier school, similar to when Hurts went to OU.
  10. What coaches are gonna want to come here with a head coach who's seat is white-hot?
  11. That would take a lot of courage to admit that things aren't going they way he'd hoped and Nebraska deserves better, and I think the fan base would respect him for it... but I don't think he'll do it. LOL Rattler isn't coming to this dumpster fire
  12. Thank you! I was ridiculed and berated for the past year for saying similar
  13. made that mistake with Solich. IMO you gotta have the coach lined up and confirmed before you fire. Kinda like you don’t divorce your wife until you’re certain your mistress is 100% on board with you.
  14. “These are all Riley’s recruits. Wait til Frost gets his own guys” or so I was told
  15. Honestly there’s no one in the current recruiting class who isn’t expendable. Maybe if we hire a guy like Chadwell some of his current recruits will follow him.
  16. The next few days will be telling. Trev can't fire a guy and not have his replacement already 100% committed. I for one am hoping that Jamey Chadwell is currently on a flight to Lincoln to look at homes.
  17. The mechanics, making quick reads, accuracy, and other fundamentals are all things Verduzco is supposed to be coaching him.
  18. In 4 years Martinez still hasn't learned to set his feet before a throw. Can't wait for the "QB guru" Verduzco to take his Ph.D in Quarterbacking and get the heck out of Lincoln.
  19. I really thought that when Frost was hired there would be an influx of talent because kids would want to play for him based on what he did at UCF. Never happened. And as if on cue........ there's another INT.
  20. The issue isn't just that he has refused to move on from Martinez, it's also that he hasn't recruited a QB that's capable of replacing him.
  21. That's kinda how I feel. One more year isn't going to make a difference with this staff. It is what it is. That said, if Trev has a certain coach in mind, and thinks that coach might not be available next year, then he needs to make the call.
  22. Time to make an offer to Chadwell and bring the 2020s version of option football to Nebraska.
  23. My quotes from before halftime: "People give Chin a lot of props, and he deserves it at times, but this defense is still too inconsistent. We get a lead, and then with our soft defense the other team is able to hang around and keep it close... then they wait until our offense makes a late mistake, capitalize, and wash, rinse, repeat again next week." "You can see it coming: another close, disappointing L" Doesn't take a brilliant person to figure it out. I like Frost, but it's insanity in the purest sense of the word to keep doing the same thing week after week and expect different results.
