  1. Is it horrible of me to delight in Freeman's ineptness at quarterback? Or to wish that Princess's decision to alienate his players and coaches by sticking with Freeman will ultimately cause his demise? When I read those stats, I just get all giddy. I get giddy knowing that, as well.
  2. Things are DEFINITELY taking shape!! Yanks get swept by the Red Sox.
  3. Yeah A-rod has been amazing - 10 HRs in about 15 games, and Hill's OBP is something like .085 - that's freakish! he's about the only going right for the Cubbies. I know it's early....but it's hard not to project A-rod's total HRs if he keeps going at this pace. We're talking over a 100 HRs!! Of course that is not going to happen, but he definitely has a chance to smack 60-70 (even more?) this year. Twins on top of their division as of today!
  4. Speaking of the Royals, whatsup with Gordon? Sheeeesh, is he struggling or what? He's being constantly overmatched by major league pitching. He's barely hitting over a dime and has mustered....what....1 hr and 2 RBI over 48 ATs. That's horrible! Think he was rushed into the majors too quickly?
  5. Sierra Nevada Porter and (close second) Bass and Negra Modelo. I'll drink the domestic stuff as well, Bud Light, etc.
  6. 54,000 is a gross overestimate. I personally counted 12.
  7. Don't worry....some people got your drift. Oklahoma's recruiting class, so far, is quite impressive. There's no arguing with that. Did you watch the youtube clip submitted by newearthhusker, though. It made me spout my diet coke through my nose!! I never saw that SNL skit before!!
  8. For crying out loud.....it took over six months for someone to figure this out. Then, when the answer was revealed, it didn't appear that difficult. Way to go Washusker!
  9. With the run of bad luck, it's nice to finally have some good news for Husker Nation!
  10. I remember watching the Gophers when they had the Brickhouse on campus. Why they tore it down and moved their games to the dome is beyond my comprehension. You need college football stadium ON CAMPUS to get the students excited. Watching the Twins in the dome was painful. Just a mockery of baseball IMO. The ViQueens need an outdoor stadium as well. The team hasn't displayed any grit since the days of Bud Grant. They are an awful team that will be worse this year. Regardless, they'll get their stadium because no metropolitian area wants to lose an NFL team.
  11. Was he shot in the arm? or leg? If he wasn't out in the open, was he inside something? Was his arm or leg exposed while the rest of his body was protected / hidden? Was the coward trying to hide or protect himself? Was he shot first, then put himself in greater danger? Or was the greater danger present first, the coward reacted, and then got shot?
  12. Was he trying to surrender? Maybe stuck out his hand with a surrender flag from inside a tank or foxhole and was shot in the arm?
  13. Baseball only. ViQueens are trying to get their own stadium. As are the Gophers.
  14. I was very impressed with both quarterbacks. Ganz threw a bullet while rolling out. He also had great poise and looked relaxed....made good decisions. It's good to know that, even if he doesn't get the starting nod, that he can come in and contribute if something happens to Keller. I also respect Ganz for sticking with the program and competing hard to vie for the starting job.
  15. Finally, it is near reality. The Twins will have a new ballpark...outdoors. Looks wonderful. They even have a place for people without a ticket to watch batting practice. I'll definitely take a special trip to Minnesota once it is built just to watch the team play there.
  16. I thought that this puzzle was dead. Since it's been resurrected, I'm play. Did someone else....like a CO....knowingly place or influence the coward to be in danger? an ultimatum....do this or this will happen? Were the battle conditions (terrain, environment) important? Does it matter what nationality the soldier was? What battle was fought? And when? If the soldier did not run away, then did he "volunteer" or was ordered to do an assignment that he felt was less risky? Did he seek safety in an area that wasn't safe? Like a tunnel that was already occupied by the enemy? Or was he out in the open? Was he shot by an enemy SOLDIER? Or someone else with a firearm? Was he a victim of a booby trap? Or a strategic trap in which the enemy lured the coward from the greater danger to the lesser danger? Do you get a sick pleasure knowing that we don't know the answer to this riddle and you do?
  17. In some ways, the Duke Lacrosse thread and this thread are similar because, at the heart of both of these events, is the fact that there is a rush to label people as "racist". It's similar to McCarthyism or the Spanish Inquisition- except rather than be accused as a communist or devil worshipper, people are being lynched in public by the accusation of being a "racist". Sharpton appears to spend his entire time trying to point his finger at the next publicly-known white person that makes a stupid statement so that he can display that person in front of the media and the arena of "public opinion" as being a racist. Most of the statements he unearths aren't even blantantly racist but rather submersive in content or implied in tone. The Duke Lacrosse case smacks of the same self-righteousness. Do you remember that Jesse Jackson had offered the alleged victim a four-year scholarship to a university towards her education. Jackson's offer, in itself, presupposes the woman is telling the truth about the alleged rape and that the members of Duke's lacrosse team were guilty. Well, we found out that the opposite is now probably true. I wonder if Sharpton and Jackson, if they read this entry, would label me a racist, too.
  18. I'm a little concerned about his "soft" commit. Sounds like he would change his commitment to LSU if they offer.
  19. I agree with all the posters in this forum topic. What's so amazing to me is that Imus has lost sponsers and affiliates for his comments....they're so reactionary....no one seems to have the balls to stand up to this nonsense. I'm not advocating for what Imus said, but this has totally gone awry. Now the Rutgers players are going on the talk show circuit to continue the "victimization" parade. Man, I have been called a lot worse in my life.
  20. I Am making a prediction this year. Red team wins again. Here's another prediction: first play of game involves multiple shifts and is a pass Still another: I will finally catch a weiner dog that is launched into the stands. Finally: My kids will be more interested in running on the field than taking the drug pledge
  21. How's this BigWillie....the coward was Josh Freeman. He reneged on his commitment to Nebraska and notified the coaches via text message (COWARD). Later when he took the FIELD against Nebraska, he realized that the GREATEST DANGER were the defensive lineman who were licking their chops...just waiting to pummel him to the ground. Rather than face the onslaught, he took the LESSER DANGER of running away from the Nebraska D-line like a ninny. Despite this strategy, Freeman's ego was mortally wounded when he spent more time on his back than Heidi Fleiss because he was GUNNED down on almost every play by blitzing linebackers. Now call me a wussie again and gimme those Husker bucks! (Don't take this post seriously BW....I'm just playing with ya)
  22. I said "most of the time", meaning that there were times when the offense struggled - as almost every offense does. But compared to previous years when there were countless mistakes, procedure calls, numerous offsides, etc. , there was a remarkable improvement. I thought, and you may disagree, that the offense actually flowed with some consistency. I agree that the offense struggled in the second half of games- that is pretty obvious. But the drift of my post is that I felt that the players were now settling into the system and that you could see the results on the field.
  23. Actually, I can see AP dropping to #12. There are some serious questions as to whether Adrian can stay healthy in the NFL, especially since his running style is upright. There are some who think that Marshawn Lynch is the safer pick of the two.
  24. I actually think that the rankings are fairly decent. But, they're subjective and open to debate, which is why I feel that this is just a fun post to read (minus the personal attacks). I noticed that some posters felt that Prince should have been rated higher; and, though every ounce of me wants to say that he deserves that ranking because I can't stand him, I would relunctantly agree with them. A lot of people, myself included, thought that KSU would finish at or near the bottom of the B12 North. Despite alienating many of his players and coaches, he coached the team to a respectable record and had a big win over Texas to boot. For some reason, I don't think that he will be so "lucky" this year - but that is probably more wishful thinking. Mack Brown gets a lot of crap for recruiting well, but not being able to win big games. I've heard people arguing that his "big" win over USC to earn the national title was a flute because Vince Young was the difference in that game. I don't understand that argument because a good coach will find a way to get his best players opportunities to score points - which he did that year. This past year, Texas wasn't as good, but I think that Brown will get his chance for another title before McCoy graduates or enters the draft. In terms of Callahan, I think that he should be ranked high. What did people expect when he changed a run-oriented offence to the WCO. Of course, the transition would be rough. He has done a remarkable job in recruiting players for his system. Last year, you could see his system working. The players didn't seem confused. There was unity. The offense looked like a well-oiled machine - most of the time. I am optimistic that Callahan will soon be reaping the fruits of his labor by having a consensus top 10 team by the end of next year. Hawkins, I feel is overrated in this ranking. I know that transitions are tough, but losing to a non-DI team is embarrassing and smacks of poor coaching. There is just no excuse for it. Peace, ya'll!
  25. frick'in North Carolina. If they would have held off GT before OT, I'd be in the top three with a good chance to win it all. Until next year....
