  1. I know that people want to spin positives about this game. But ISU really stopped THEMSELVES with the turnovers. I never have bought into a "bend and not break defense" - it just means that the field becomes shorter as you drive down the field...helping the defense out. It's easy to see improvement after Ball STate and USC....but the Blackshirts are FAR from regaining the stagger that they once held.
  2. Can someone who subscribes to Rivals please paraphrase this article? I would like to know the jest of what it said.
  3. A pony walks into a bar and whispers "Bartender, may I have a drink?" The bartender says "What? I can't hear you. Speak up!" The pony whispers again "May I please have a drink, sir?" "What? You have to speak up!" Then, again, in a barely audible voice, the pony asks "Could I please have a drink?" The bartender says "Now listen, if you don't speak up I will not serve you." Replies the pony, "I'm sorry, I'm just a little hoarse"
  4. Really, the fans were loud?????????? Not were I was sitting. It was the quietest Husker game that I had ever sat through. The boos weren't even loud in our section (north stadium). We are in danger of becoming an easy place for a visiting team to play. If the crowd does not get enthused.....then what's the advantage of home field. Memorial Stadium needs to be an intimidating place to play....Where the opposing team feels uncomfortable. Sometimes I wonder if "the best fans in the world" are a little TOO NICE!
  5. I don't think that it's impossible to get this defense turned around. Remember last year when Okie State destroyed us after we were up by 17 points? everyone was "fire Cosgrove" then, as well. Afterwards, our defense toughened up the rest of the year. HOWEVER, last year's defense was better than this year's. At least we were able to apply pressure on the opposing quarterbacks with some consistency. This year, they are getting pushed around. So, I would say that is POSSIBLE, BUT UNLIKELY to get this defense turned-around. I'm actually hoping that the reports are true....because I think that taking away the DC responsibilities from Coz CAN ONLY HELP the team.
  6. NU - 16 ISU - 14 rushing - 90 passing - 198 A surprising defensive gem! Who would of thunk?
  7. I have never been on the Lucky bandwagon. He hasn't demonstrated, to me, that he is worthy of being the #1 back in this offense. He's great in the open field or when there is a huge hole (as are many other collegiate backs that didn't receive the hype that he did). After the Wake Forest game, I mentioned that I wasn't convinced that Lucky is our best back and there were those that replied that he indeed was. What, pray tell, is it about Lucky that people find so awesome???? I don't know if we have a #1 back....a feature back, so to speak.
  8. A man walks into a bar with an alligator and a walking cane. The bartender says, "Hey, you can't bring that animal in here!". The man replies, "he's competely harmless...look, I'll show you one of his tricks". He then precedes to unfasten his zipper and take out his d^ck. Taking his walking cane, he hits the alligator on top of its head. The alligator opens his mouth. The man puts his d^ck in the alligator's mouth and hits him again with the cane. The alligator closes its mouth. Then, once again, the man hits the alligator on top of its head with the cane, and the alligator opens its mouth - revealing that the man's penis doesn't have a scratch on it!! The man cries out to the amazed crowd, "would anyone else like to try?". An old woman replies "I would...but please don't hit me with the stick!!"
  9. My two favorite "bar" jokes are... A priest, rabbi and evangelical minister walk into a bar and the bartender says "hey, is this some sort of joke!" or this one A grasshopper walks into a bar and the bartender says "hey, we got a drink named after you". And the grasshopper replies "really, you have a drink named Steve?" Just wondering if anyone else has "bar" jokes to share!!
  10. I was in the crowd during the USC game and will be there again when we play Ball St. It will be interesting to experience the "crowd" factor this Saturday.... so many long faces last week. I hope that everyone is supportive and pumped up! By the way......I remained standing for the entire first half of last week's game. Some old lady behind me tugged my jacket and grumbled "this won't do (me standing up)". I glared at her and said "Lady, if you tug my jacket again, I'll not only stand up the entire game, but I'll scream every chance that I get that you're touching my ass". I wasn't in the mood to be nice. She didn't bother me the rest of the game....and her husband even gave me high fives several times when we made a nice play (she wouldn't return my overtures for a high five, though). Midway through the third quarter, we found a different seat (there were plenty!!) so she could sit and watch the game in peace. I hope we clobber Ball State. Husker Nation needs a lift!!!
  11. i COMPLETELY agree with you. I can't stand reading all the anti-Callahan crap on this board right now. A few wins will quite some....at least until our next loss when the anti-Callahan group will rise up again. Since the game last Saturday, I haven't responded to any posts because it's futile to argue with people who are so overly emotional and get on this "fire the coach" mentality. It's one game, for Pete's sake!! Against the number one team in the country....probably one of the greatest college teams assembled. We face Mizzou with one blemish on our record. That's the way everyone foresaw it before the season began. It wasn't like we were SUPPOSED TO BEAT USC! GBR
  12. NU - 31 Ball State 24 Rushing - 184 Passing - 291 Another game for Husker fans to get pissed about!
  13. And that, my friends, is why he refers to himself as Captain Obvious!
  14. I guess that I got that wrong!!!! I'm having crow for dinner!!
  15. I am in the same boat. Do we have to prepay or can we pay at the door? I have to talk tonight with the people that are going to the game with me to determine what they want to do.
  16. Yeah, I thought is was one INT in the first half and four in the second. Not that it makes much of a difference now. It's good to see some love for the Huskers from the media out there. I'm feeling that way NOW. Plan to spend the whole day near the stadium....won't be concerned about what other B12 teams are doing. I don't think that I'll be watching any other football on Saturday. I'm already anxious!! If that 27-23 prediction holds up, it'll be like winning the national championship....it's that big of a game. Dang...I'm already pumped up for the game. Can't wait 'til kick off! GBR
  17. I think it's all crap. So, they spied on another team.....I just have a feeling that NFL espionage is more prevalent than what the Patriots got caught with. I really don't see what the big deal is. I'm not condoning breaking rules......but the severity of the infraction doesn't seem to warrant all the hoopla. Coach will probably be suspended for one game. I doubt that draft picks will be taken away.
  18. My third prediction..... NEBRASKA - 31 USC - 17 Passing 383 Rushing 195 Game for the ages
  19. That is very true....Lucky threw hell of a block to give Keller time to throw that TD pass.
  20. Well, for one, I think don't think that Nevada was a great testament to Lucky's ability to run the ball. The holes were huge. Lucky is quick, but I don't see the same ability to get that extra yard or two as, let's say, as BJax, who, if you remember, took over the starting spot from Lucky. Lucky is getting the bulk of the carries, but I"M NOT SOLD that the bulk of the carries should not be given to Castille, who is QUICK and can break tackles for extra yards. I'm not putting Lucky down. I think that he is more than a capable back for the WCO that Cally runs. He has great hands and, when he gets past the line of scrimmage into some open field, he has a great burst of speed. He has improved in that he waits for his blocks (he's running smarter these days). I would like Cally to use some creativity in the running game....I would like for him to use Castille or Glenn on third and two. They are the best backs to grind for those yards...not Lucky, IMO.
  21. Here's my second prediction USC - 42 Huskers - 27 passing - 295 rushing - 115
  22. I don't subscribe to rivals. What, in a nutshell, did the article say that would suggest that he is Michigan bound?
  23. God, I pray that the coaches are asking him to boot it as FAR as he can!!!!!!
