  1. If he could make that offense work in the B1G I'd love to watch it every week. Fun stuff for fans that lived through the glory years.
  2. And almost all of us loved the SF hire and he turned out to be Mr. .479 (.340 @ NU). Guess it goes to show you really never know how things will turn out.
  3. Maybe not as great as a lot of people think. Nebraska and NIL
  4. Actually, NW is below us so we're not at the bottom.
  5. I'd rather see them drop Cincinnati and schedule an FCS team or another lower tier G5 team. Assuming Fickell is still coaching there, they will more than likely be a top #25 team. Not what NU needs since they will be in the middle of the rebuilding phase (hopefully). Take the SEC route and schedule pansy OOC games since with the new B1G we'll have our hands full and with USC & UCLA coming in it won't be getting any easier. Thirty year ago I would have thought this laughable but this is the new reality.
  6. If it is we can cross him off our lists. Most seemed to hate the idea of him coming here anyway.
  7. Love the way Mickey gets his point across.
  8. What a concept! Hope our new coach will have a similar plan. It's amazing what you can do with lower ranked recruiting classes when you follow this formula.
  9. I think this is nonsense. KU won 20 games total in the 11 years prior to Leipold taking over in 2021. He has been able to get that program turned in the right direction in his second year despite not getting there until late May 2021. And NU has way more to offer in just about every respect compared to KU. Facilities, NIL, B1G money to pay HC & assistants, fan support, one of top 2 conferences in the country. Are we going to get an elite coach? Almost certainly not but to think nobody that can turn this program around will come to NU is ridiculous.
  10. That's a brutal non-conf schedule no doubt. /s A 1-6 Pac 12 team followed by a 2-6 Missouri Valley team followed by a 2-5 C-USA team. No matter who the new coach we can't expect to go better than 1-3 at best. It would be even better to cancel CU and replace with an FCS team since a P5 team is probably a mountain too high. Maybe we could get a waver to play 3 FCS teams. Or better yet, just join the Missouri Valley Conference. /s I never thought I'd see the day when we would cower like little school girls when with a schedule consisting of probably the worst P5 team in the country and 2 bottom feeder FCS teams from in weak conferences.

  12. I agree. Listened to it earlier and found it to be pretty interesting. Article to be published tomorrow.
  13. And if you back at the last two decades there are many more examples including AD's and their bosses.
  14. Not a bad way to start out for whoever the new coach may be.
  15. I'm not sure you can fairly compare this year to last year. A lot of good players are gone and have been replaced by transfers. Some with success, some not so much. And with the atrocious play we've seen from the OL and defense in general I'm not sure anybody could make a meaningful difference, especially only through 4 games. It's a tough situation from both Mickey and Trev. I think Mikey could be an outstanding coach but it wouldn't show with what he has inherited. And tough for Trev to really make a meaningful evaluation for the same reason. Mickey has shown areas where he excels like keeping the team together, team unity and playing hard. But is that enough since being the HC of B1G program entails a lot more which we don't really know how Mickey will handle. I'm glad it's Trev's call and not mine. One thought is Mickey might be better served in a roll like asst. HC or the like. If he does become HC he will inevitably lose a lot close, personal relationships he has with the kids since the father figure type coach and being in a CEO position don't really mesh well when your at a high profile, P5 school.
  16. Illinois - 35 Nebraska - 13 Rush - 74 Pass - 186
  17. He'd fit right in at NU though. Getting his a$$ kicked while committing 10 penalties for 111 yards. So far.
  18. Sorry, I missed that. I can't and don't try to keep up with this thread. Just catch a few posts here and there. I will say although I fully supported him, when I watched a few his final games at UCF there were a few times I questioned some of the game and especially time management decisions but they kept on winning so I thought "WTF do I know".
  19. Why can't it be both? The SF mega thread here at the time showed he was almost the unanimous choice among these hardcore fans. Sure, there were few dissenters, but not many. But he was also almost universally praised by the media and sought after by other top schools. I know I was all for him at the time.
  20. I'm hoping Tommi Hill can get some PT at WR. If he can somehow step up he has good size and reportedly pretty close in speed to Palmer. With that kind of speed on the outside somebody is going to get open whether it is one of the wide outs or underneath. Probably a long shot but hoping for the best.
  21. I think Trev knew it was only a matter of time after losses to NW & Georgia So. until he had to (or got to) fire him. Especially with all of what came out after he was fired since I sure Trev was well aware of what was going on. Didn't want to take the chance XHCSF would pull off a miracle against OU making it harder to drop the axe and they could afford the $7.5M. The Huskeronline guys brought up a good point in their podcast today. Hoiberg also has metrics with Trev but nothing written down. Frost insisted his be in writing. Speaks a lot to lack of trust between the two IMHO. Not surprising since I've heard they weren't exactly best of friends from what we hear.
