  1. Yeah an Iowa fan co-worker of mine reminded me of that. Sadly I had to agree.
  2. I agree. Plus people in general seem to focus on fans vs no fans at games. It annoys the heck out of me. Are coaches and players now dispensable in order to satisfy our entertainment needs?
  3. I'd say football and many other team sports are pretty unique as far as it being impossible to proceed with any sort of distancing mitigation in place.
  4. Unfortunately option #5 is the only one supported by any logic at this point. I’d love to hear from any AD how they could possibly make 1-4 work knowing what we know now. There’s been nothing. No plan of action. It just seems as though they are prolonging this as long as they can and refuse to admit the reality of the situation.
  5. Because if any of these journalists had ties to Fox or other publications on the right, then...well do I need to explain?
  6. Ok. Fair enough. You want to feel good about your voting. Nothing wrong with that. But why keep posting Reade/Biden allegations on HB? Can you not research this for yourself? Are you (and a few others) trying to recruit others to get riled up about Biden too? That’s what it looks like. And considering Trump’s own allegations, that doesn’t sit well with some of us. Especially when we strongly believe Trump needs to be defeated in November. No one is telling you how to vote, but if you or others continue with these posts on Reade/Biden and not Trump, it’s perfectly reasonable for people to criticize those posts.
  7. I understand it just fine. All allegations rape or SA are serious as these are terrible crimes. One candidate has one such allegation. The other candidate has 18. You are focusing on the candidate with one and ignoring #18. Am I correct in assuming this means you are either voting for 18, or are still upset that zero (Sanders) got beat out by One? If this is correct then it explains the Biden slamming adequately. So am I correct?
  8. So you’re ok with Trump’s double digit rape/SA allegations, but not Biden’s single one.
  9. Sure. You can complain about it or whatever else you want to for that matter. But what exactly is the point if Trump allegedly has done the same or worse? It sure comes off as holding each candidate to a different standard. Why does Trump get a pass? I’ll just say that from someone who’s pretty neutral on Biden, this Biden slamming from known Bernie supporters, sure looks like sour grapes.
  10. People can post and complain about what Biden and/or Hunter may have or are alleged to have done, but in the CONTEXT of the inevitable election between Biden and Trump: 1. Complaining about Biden's sexual assault accusation doesn't hold water, because Trump has about 12 of his own. 2. Complaining about Hunter's cushy board gig with Burisma and whatever else he benefited from doesn't hold water because the Trump's have essentially written the Book on Nepotism. Call it two bad candidates or whatever you want, but complaining about one when the other's done the same or worse is just silly. Now unless you have new EVIDENCE of something illegal (that hasn't been reported already) regarding either 1 or 2 with either candidate, please just find something more constructive to b!^@h about.
  11. Not necessarily. There are ways to distance while being in “class”, but not so much with contact sports.
  12. What about Fall Camp and Game Week practices? You'd have to test daily for those as well. 100-200 people/day (All FB staff & players) multiplied by lets say 75-85 practices and 13 games a season. One the high end, that's 19,600 tests for one program per season. So for all 130 or so FBS programs that's over 2.5 million tests for the season. What does a test cost? IDK, but that has to be factored in too.
  13. I agree. Testing. Testing. Testing. And lots of it. Only way team sports happen in the fall/winter. Knowing where we are now with testing, I just can’t see getting there in 5-6 months. The hospital I work at can only test 10 people per day currently. I do know that when testing capacity improves, and it will, the first batches of tests aren’t going straight to football teams.
  14. Seriously? It’s not just the fans at risk. Players, coaches, officials TV crews, etc. are not exempt from potentially dying or other bad outcomes from this disease. The potential PR and legal fallout if a student athlete(s) were to get sick and have a bad outcome all because of careless distancing practices would be tremendous IMO. If you can’t guarantee reasonable safety measures with a lot of frequent testing, then it’s just not worth it. As much as it would suck without football for a season, there’s way more to life than sports.
  15. What sort of restrictions do you envision? I think that's a big problem right now. Trying to figure out how they can responsibly put a product on the field even if there are no fans in the stadium. There seems to be no good ways to keep the players safe outside of unlimited testing capabilities or sequestering. Both of those would in my opinion be very unlikely at this point.
  16. I’m guessing a lot of folks similar those hypothetical machine gun toting, rabbit hunting crazies are in that sheriffs county. They’re the type who are not going to be told what to do and think pretty much any law infringes on their freedom. He’s just catering to his voters. Sort of like the sheriff in Virginia who was going to refuse to enforce new state firearm laws.
  17. So basically one AD out of 130 thinks no football. Probably won’t find out who. Also, clearly 14% of the AD’s are out of their minds if they think there’s going to be football this year and it’s going to start sometime in the next two months.
  18. Also of interest is what they do with the results. “You have antibodies. Go back to work, etc”. I wonder how is that going regulated or documented? Hopefully they have a plan.
  19. I get the importance of planning ahead, but all of those sports having any sort of salvaged season would be predicated on the widespread availability of accurate testing. I would say that presently, no one can predict with a high degree of confidence when that will happen. So if it were me in charge I would want to wait as long as possible for any announcement in hopes that more could be known about future testing capabilities.
  20. Assuming this is not BS..If we have widespread testing that is both highly sensitive and specific, then a spring season is possible. They probably figure there’s no way we’ll be at that point this fall. Seems too early to be announcing something like this though.
  21. I agree with this. However, It would have been interesting to see what Duval and NU's nutrition program could have done for this young man. He does have elite speed and good ball skills playing CB. He's just too thin right now, but with the right program that could change. Maybe he'll have a change of heart and give NU a try. I'd put NU's ability to put "good weight" on a player at or above any other school.
  22. I was being a bit tongue-in- cheek with that “great player “ as it was just to appease those who like to get all bent out of shape over these things. Avante is a good player who has great speed. Add 20-30 lbs of muscle while maintaining the speed and then he has potential to be “great.” You really think MN is a rival? I’d say maybe Iowa is and that’s about it. But no, as I mentioned earlier, I don’t get upset about individual recruits anymore.
  23. Ok, apparently I should have prefaced my original post with. He's a great player, but....
  24. Who's the first? Just curious. I don't follow recruiting too much anymore. I used to in the Pelini days and finally realized that unless you're talking about a true difference maker at quarterback, it's not worth worrying about individual players. Coaching and culture are way more important.
