  1. We get a solid commitment from Cropper, we can stop talking about Robinson. Don’t get me wrong. I wish the kid the best at Kentucky.
  2. Yes, he sure would. His comment perhaps would help cure the wounds from losing Wandal Robinson.
  3. I agree 383 yards is unacceptable. What I failed to make clear, huskerfan74, is when hopefully the Corn has a good defense, it may not show statistically as much because of being on the field more. The more snaps our opponents have, the more likely they will get more yards and perhaps a few more scores. I hope I made that clearer.
  4. Bingo! Your last sentence makes absolute sense. The Corn offense is not geared to eat up clock — quick striking. So yes the defense will be on the field more and give up more yards as a result.
  5. Let’s give Frost and Chinander time before we jump to conclusions. Frost knows defense. He played safety in the NFL and was a DC in his early coaching days. While Frost got his offense going extremely well in his second season with UCF, perhaps he and Chinander were still in the developmental stage with the D. They were only there for two years, and this is only the first year here in Lincoln. Too early to determine how good or how bad the D will be. I like to think it will be better than worse.
  6. I’m just grateful my number one team is N, and we have an innovative head coach with a great offensive mind. I feel good we can get our offense going against IA and to a little lesser extent with MS — yes we could defeat both. If N can force IA into a track meet, they won’t outscore us. I see Iowa with a pretty good D but with an old-fashioned and very uncreative offense. I’m glad Kirk Ferenz is not our coach.
  7. Very possible it depends if he is more comfortable with the K coaching staff versus N’s.
  8. This is the third DC N has had in three years. What we have is another transition defense with a lack of playmakers. Let’s see how Chinander’s does with more good players and establishes his defense in the future. And it’s hard to measure him from his only two years at UCF. Perhaps if he was coaching there longer, he may have had improved defenses, as is hopefully the case in Lincoln. We will see.
  9. I agree with you. While teams like Alabama and OSU have proven what top-10 recruiting classes can achieve, there are enough three stars out there who can get you to the top as long as you find the right ones who fit the system. Prince (can’t spell his last name) was one of Callahan’s three-star recruits, and he became an All American. Cody Green was a four star who we were hyping up, and TMart, a three star, was clearly the better QB. So as long as Frost finds the right three and four stars, the Corn’s future looks very bright.
  10. Callahan certainly did with his second recruiting class — was within the top five nationally I believe. His last class was heading that direction until his team fell apart, and the recruits knew his days as Nebraska’s coach were numbered and bolted. While on paper it showed him to be a great recruiter, he had his share of busts like Harrison Beck, and Marlon Lucky was never one of our better running backs. True he got guys like Suh, David and Prince, but I wouldn’t say he was the best at evaluating talent and finding the right fits. And of course he never developed his talent. But anyone to say N can never get top-10 classes is not true.
  11. I think Bryan Wilson was eating some gummy bears in Colorado.
  12. Interesting, before 1960, Minnesota was a football power. Since then, they have never been the same. Until Frost came along, I had been concerned the Corn was continuing to go that direction. I feel very good we will be back unlike Minnesota.
  13. This article is very telling. And I agree Kelly needs to step up his recruiting. But I expect his class to look a lot better in February. Herm Edwards’ ASU 2018 class was looking pretty sad, but he closed pretty good as I recall.
  14. 66th? Good grief. Perhaps they are low on commitment numbers versus star averages? I have been informed before that Kelly doesn’t like to recruit. However he always recruited talent that fitted his system. So, yes, I believe he will have some Rose Bowl teams in the future.
  15. Interesting that Kelly has the same record as Frost. One difference is it appears they are going backwards instead of improving when comparing them to the Corn. Yet there was a sign of improvement as they finally won two in a row after losing I believe their first five. Then came Utah and Oregon, and they both blew them out based on the scores. Being from the outside looking in, perhaps I am missing some things that indicate there is hope for the Bruins in year two and three? Do you see Kelly turning UCLA around, as we believe Frost will with the Corn? Edit: UCLA outyarded Oregon 496 to 492. Perhaps that’s a good sign of what’s to come. Again, I am looking from the outside looking in, and perhaps they don’t have a QB like ours.
  16. We clearly have shown improvement that Riley and even Bo’s teams never had shown. Good job, Frost and players.
  17. We played four quarters against a better team that has more depth. We had some missed chances, but I am proud of our team. This is a much better team then when we played Michigan.
  18. It just goes to show you, that recruiting experts don’t really know until the very end, especially with Out-of-State highly sought-after players. Even if he committed to Nebraska, it is very possible he would’ve flipped to Kentucky anyways. It’s a great loss but it’s not going to break us by any means.
  19. Just went down to 58 percent for N and and up 12 percent for UK. Who knows what will happen.
  20. I remember those recruiting showdowns with Oklahoma and Switzer and how thrilling it was when we won those battles — Turner Gill, Mickey Joseph, etc. I feel the same way beating out OSU.
  21. Yes, I was comparing him to Morgan because he is a wide receiver. As for Chase’s speed, read Sam McKewon’s article. He writes that Chase has long strides, can get to top speed quickly, and he can maintain that top speed, putting distance between defenders. He apparently is fast enough.
  22. Not concerned. It’s certainly possible our conditioning program will increase his speed like Stanley Morgan who wasn’t very fast four years ago. Glad we got him.
  23. Oh I don’t know. He is more talented than Correll Buckhalter, who was drafted in the 4th round and contributed in the NFL. He had two seasons with 500-plus yards and one with 600-plus yards. Edit: I’m referring to Oz. I think his best football may still be ahead of him.
  24. Oz is showing to be the complete back, a combination of size, speed quickness and power. He should be able to play on Sundays, and perhaps will be drafted within the first three rounds. Also I want to add that we may see Miles Jones in the last four games. I believe the coaching staff has had in mind of redshirting him.
