  1. I've watched this thread way too closely (waste of time really) and to quote you "I’ve heard a lot of people say stupid ish like this"... Come on Cornfed.. it's a pipe dream at best. Money talks but doesn't walk the walk.. Respectable people can't be bought. Tempted yes but never bought. (Not calling DS respectable as I don't know him and also haven't any reason to believe he's not respectable).. but in Deion's words about playing for a terrible team in cold weather: Article "But Sanders didn't want to play in Detroit. A terrible team in a cold weather city? No, thanks. Had the Lions pulled the trigger, he famously said he "would've asked for so much money they would've had to put me on layaway."
  2. Deion?? Come on guys, Deion??? Seriously, we have 10° wind chill here.. The west division is over with after next year. tOSU, Michigan, USC, UCLA, Wisconsin, Penn State, heck even Iowa (though this might be the end of Kirk) and snow in Dec, Jan, Feb, March and often April!!! Would I be dancin if it truly happened.. ABSOLUTELY but.... it's not happening!! Deion won't be wearing husker red ever!!
  3. Admittedly as I've said several times over, I'm was, still am and likely will continue to be a MJ as Head Coach supporter (Not popular I know) but what surprises me is how tight lipped and to the vest this process remains. There's zero real leads and those that seem concrete are speculative at best. The longer this drags on though the more convinced I am that Trev has already made the hire.
  4. I've not hidden the fact I'm a MJ fan Mavric but I've also listened to every Trev interview post firing. Mickey, regardless of the haters speak, is checking the boxes.
  5. Let's see: - Recruiting is strong - check - Recruits aren't bailing - check - Current players (CT) hinting a 2023 return - check - Strong display of leadership - check - Approachable by all (players, media, administrators, fans) - check - Continued improvement and development - check - Gaining popularity throughout the media and fanbase - check Hmm... seems Mickey J is checking all the boxes that Trev has either spoken about or hinted about... and YOU think YOU know best!! Get outta here with your hate dude!! It's nothin more than laughable!!!
  6. This >>> Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night - Tonight's The Night Baby!!!
  7. @admo Dude... that's a debbie downer post if I've ever read one.
  8. Like Solich adjusting to a combination option, rpo offense Like Callahan's West Coast Offense Like, Bo's modern power run and option offense Like Riley's Pro Set offense Like Frost's RPO offense Seems to me only two coach's above had success here and both ran a version of TO's offense. - Solich was fired for breaking off his engagement to Perlman's daughter 1 and 2, for TO choosing him to lead the Freshman team over Petersen... (So, vendetta) - Pelini was fired by his own character flaws and inability to control his temper. There was also divide between him and a certain AD (we don't speak his name). Nebraska will never have the recruiting base to compete for the best national talent and though NIL will be a huge tool the truth is, University's with a large recruiting base of in state talent (tOSU) will always have an upper hand in recruiting. The advantage that TO/Solich/Pelini had was they weren't competing in recruiting with the tOSU, Bama's, Texas, etc... and that is what imo (limited as it is, very limited) has been the downfall for the Callahan's, Riley's, Frost's... (well, Callahan was defense as his offense was fire).. Regardless, if a University in a state with the population of Nebraska can't consistently move the ball by eating clock and running the ball, well.. history shows it doesn't work well. The two coaches often mentioned that we know will run the ball are Monken (Army) and Leipold (Kansas)... Personally, if either Monken or Leipold are hired or if Mickey Joseph is given the reigns I'll be dancin because I think it's apparent that MJ, like Bo, Like Solich, Like TO wants to run the rock first. Monken and Leipold fit this mold as well. So yes, I am one of those "Run The Cotton Picken Rock Dudes"... That's all, Have a wonderful and memorable evening Saturday Nov 4th following a Nebraska victory and an MJ announcement.
  9. I think all the "Fire Frost" crowd migrated to the "Mickey isn't capable/qualified" crowd with no real concept of why and what Mickey and Trev have discussed. We can all point to both successes and failures regardless of the given sides and still, without knowing what's already being placed into position by the current staff and administration it's all simply speculation. Trev will do what he thinks is best and he'll do it because it's his job. All these wannabe decision makers haven't an inkling of influence on the decision making progress and that's why I've enjoyed this thread so me much. Regardless of whom Trev hires there will be a meltdown... Best to grab some popcorn and watch it all unfold
  10. So... I think what you are saying is, Mickey reminds you of Devaney.. A coach that has the skills necessary "to do that program rebuild" but will have to find an offensive coordinator (i.e... TO - Per Wikipedia: After disappointing 6–4 seasons in both 1967 and 1968, Devaney named Osborne offensive coordinator for the 1969 season. Osborne immediately overhauled the offense, switching to a balanced attack operated from the I formation. The revamped offense sparked the 1970 Cornhuskers to the first national title in program history. Nebraska defeated LSU 17–12 in the Orange Bowl on New Year's night and finished first in the post-bowl AP Poll. Nebraska won the national title again in 1971, becoming the first champion ever to defeat the next three teams in the final AP Poll (Oklahoma, Colorado, and Alabama).) capable of winning championships. Is my conclusion correct?
  11. Everyone stating MJ hasn't wowed you .. for Pete's sake, the dude has yet to put a staff together. Heck, he's not publicly said a word about who he'd bring in. His job right now is to keep afloat a sinking ship and hold together a recruiting class that is potentially better than past years. In those two "job requirements" he's done masterfully well and though we don't know whom MJ is considering as assistants there's one who does. Nobody could have held things together better than MJ has... And tbh, virtually every "desired" coach spoken of here has one negative that MJ doesn't. That negative is they've been fired from other programs. As this season progresses I find myself becoming a HUGE Mickey fan. Yes, because he's successfully accomplishing that which was asked of him.
  12. Actually, Lovie took them bowling mate... Lovie was let go because his offense wasn't getting it done. His defense however was as he was focusing on defensive recruits while overlooking the in-state offensive talent and I personally think Lovie would have had the same success the last 2 years that BB has. BB showed with his last 2 classes at whisky and his Arky classes that he isn't a good recruiter. That said, maybe illinois has an MJ on staff that will rectify BB's lacking. Obviously I'm "not" a BB fan. In fact, I'm disgusted even looking at his grossness. Great Image for any University
  13. Brett is currently playing with Lovie's recruits. Are they performing for him? Yes... but, until he has to begin using his recruits it's only speculative in saying he's the cat's meow. People forget, many programs (Illinois being one) are filled with 6th year qualifiers. Next year those players will leave a HUGE hole everywhere.
  14. It's not the koolaid, I woke this morning to a vision of 38 - 34 and the huskers dancing on the sideline. It's happening, we win this one.

Yeah, on my planet the Huskers win every game. JK. It’s too bad. They started out strong but it seems like they don’t know a good thing when they have it! They had a good running game going then switched to passing? Why? I just don’t get that.

I dreamt that I was hanging out on a houseboat with a very attractive 20-something year old.

I could handle that!  (or probably not...)

@funhusker - talking about a scary dream, run mate run as fast and as far as you can!!

Wow... boy was my dream WAYYYY off.. :(:wtf

  15. Can we go back in time, clone our 1984 coaching staff (so their younger) and return with the younger versions to take over the program again? I'd take that over any other possible solution
  16. Agree with your above post and the bold text is why I've felt all along that Trev (whom I believe is a very intelligent strategist) has always felt that MJ is the guy. Think about it, without any risk in damaging the season any further Trev is getting first hand knowledge on how MJ would lead. How athletes, media, administration personnel, B1G officials, etc.. etc... react and truth is, MJ is "ok" with a slightly lesser contract that is incentive driven, heck he's come out and said he wants his coaching staff taken care of. (First the athletes, then the coaches, then administrators and he'll take whats left).. Is this not an AD's perfect scenario? Personally, I'm a Dan Lanning fan (Oregon's HC) and not far behind him is Kalen DeBoer (Washington's HC). After that I really don't think any other mentioned coaches (maybe Lane, Rhule) bring anymore calm to Trev's decision. Lance, Aranda, Doeren all have Head Coaching experience but also haven't really won anything. Monken (Army HC) imo has as much upside as Liepold, Aranda, Doeren and also runs an offense much like Bo did... We don't know what offense MJ would implement if he's hired but there's someone that does, Trev.. I honestly think, when the dust settles, regardless of whom is hired, in the end MJ will be able to say "I did my best" and yes, imo, I hope he says that in 2040 after winning 3 naty's
  17. Dang you Enhance... you had to boast your enormous vocabulary and force me to learn a new word. (hang my head in shame)
  18. No but I don't want your savior coach either. In fact, what I want doesn't matter and therefore it's simply not worth constantly ranting about it. One thing I do know is I have been all my life a husker fan and regardless of whom Trev hires I'll continue to be a husker fan. (Yes, even if Aranda is hired)
  19. Hmm... sounds like same things we excused SF for. (yes, I'm guilty of that) I'm not guilty however of referring to Aranda as an elite HC nor was I guilty of calling Frost that.
  20. and this year, he's 3-3 with 2 of his wins coming over G5 teams while losing the powerhouse programs like WV & BYU... yet to you he's elite. Hmm..... 3-3 equates to elite, someone's pushing "their" agenda as much as they accuse others as pushing theirs.. What's the old saying "pot calling the kettle black", is that right?
  21. Again, more assumptions on your part. You group people into categories and then label the groups accordingly. This is a common flaw on public forums. (One I find myself often guilty of sadly/shamefully) My point to you is there is reason for optimism. Tom Osborne had zero HC experience and was nearly chased away because "according to the arm chairs" he couldn't win the big one. Thankfully, TO stayed true to himself and to the young men he recruited. In MJ, I see a lot of the same characteristics. A man that parents will find it hard to not trust. A coach that young high school students will gravitate to and play for. A coach that has credibility within the administration and boosters because of his integrity. A coach that puts everyone ahead of himself and holds them accountable to themselves and to each other. You can boast you're perceptions of mediocrity all you want but you won't convince me that MJ is mediocre. He's a winner and will continue as such wherever he lands. Personally, I'm hoping Lincoln becomes his permanent address. As a HC or as associate HC but non the less, a permanent member of the huskers
  22. Umm... I personally am excited at the prospect of MJ being our next head coach and him being a former player is way down the list: 1. It's obvious that both player's and coach's tend to gravitate to him. 2. He's forthright with his beliefs and answers 3. He's a highly experienced coach with an awesome family of experienced members to lean on. 4. He's shown he can and will make tough decisions. 5. He's engaging both to the media and the fanbase but most importantly, to the young men that enter his office. 6. He's one of the best recruiters we've had since TO's time. 7. He's tough both mentally and physically. 8. He isn't afraid to speak the truth, to put forth a plan and hold everyone (including himself) accountable to it. 9. He is a minority coach and that, here at Nebraska especially, is important because he is the first! 10. He's a former player that understands a winning culture. Now.. tell me again why "I" like MJ?
  23. We all know you are the color guard for standard and that standard is anti MJ but you chose to ignore truths too. Many on here look at how the players have responded to coach MJ's leadership and believe as I do, that had MJ been the head coach from the season's start the record would be much improved. In believing that and knowing what lies ahead I also believe had MJ been the HC from the start of the season (which mind you, would be his first year as HC) the team would likely be playing for 8 wins. So, I refer back to part 2 of my earlier question as evidence of and proof for fans to reasonably be excited about MJ. There will be a few haters (You obviously fit in here) but by a large amount most fans would feel excited and hopeful. MJ has done a fabulous job since being handed the reigns in a tumultuous situation. Hence the reason I think Trev has a very difficult decision ahead. I truly believe if MJ wins 5 games total while reflecting back on the NW and GS losses that a speculation exists MJ would have won as HC then and well.... simply stated, the program could and has done much worse then MJ in choosing previous HC's.
  24. Honest 2 part question: Part 1: If 6-6 was the metric for Frost to hold on and return to his original contract is it considered safe to say that metric is also in play for MJ? Part 2: If MJ is bypassed and a new coach comes in, how soon would this fan base (meaning HB posters) expect a 6-6 metric to be measured? (and wow, we've fallen so far now that a 6-6 record is a goal, that says something and it's not a "good" something)
  25. I'm as uninformed as everyone else but my gut is telling me that we already have our new head coach on the sidelines and MC's commitment might just solidify it. Personally, I'm 100% fine with this.
