  1. Again, more assumptions... were you in the locker room? Maybe the coaches office? Hell, maybe a fly on the wall? There's many reasons to sit the young man. Maybe just to get him healthy. Ever think of that? You speak on the boards as though you know facts when in reality you know nothing more than the rest of us. AM's performance after the sitting was markedly better. Receiver play was a part of the improvement. Maybe also was a change in playing calling as frost said he step aside some in the last few games.. Lastly, AM has been through more than most his age.. Loss of a parent, personal injury, courageous enough as a 18 yo to step into the captains chair of one of the nations most storied programs... I'd say he's proven himself time and again and through it all he's wisely ignored the naysayers and whiners out there that know next to nothing about the realities that he's facing. Am I defending him, damn right I am. I won't be judgemental of a circumstance that I myself know nothing about. I might pose a question about the circumstance by I won't spout off my opinion and when I do, I want someone to shut me up. (Even if it calls for suspension! Sometimes suspension is the best remedy and too often is not used on this or most forums.)
  2. I think a bigger problem might be public boards that don't know the entire truth of any scenario spouting negatives everywhere. What I do know is many times I've seen experienced starters benched for a game or two so they can deal with whatever issues they are going through. (Kind of like a paid leave of absence/time off.) They clear their heads and reclaim their position and are all the better for it. Want some hall of fame names.. lets start with Troy Aikman and Joe Montana. (both btw benched in college and in the pros...) Instead of presumptive negatives based solely on the assumptive, instead maybe we should applaud our starters that were benched but regained their starting position and performed at a higher level. Yes AM has performed better since. (If memory serves we had a recent corner that was benched and months later drafted, yes?)
  3. Identity, Identity, Identity... What I can say with confidence is, Chin's defensive scheme has been consistent from the start and seemingly as a result the defense now has it's identity. On the other hand, what we though would be a strength, (Remember Frost stating he hoped they'd have to adjust to us comment) has actually been a disappointment and might I argue that is due to a lack of consistency thereby resulting in no identity. If you're identity is stretching the field, than do it. If it's power run game, than do it. If it's RPO to throw at TE, than do it but don't do one thing one year and another thing next year!!
  4. I think the offense is still a year or 2 behind.. doesn't make sense to me that Frost and Company are having so much trouble with that side of the ball. Wonder what the issue is.
  5. lol, not surprising but truth... Mav's stadium is better than 70% of the B1G's complex's. MSU sucks, Northwestern's Garbage, Illinois Garbage, Iowa's is ok but not as nice, Michigans.. almost garbage (garbage for a CWS runner up)... Face it, B1G cares very little about the spring sports.. always has, always will. B1G baseball simply doesn't exist in the eyes of the B1G's marketing guru.
  6. Video reminds me of Tommy... like that he keeps his eyes downfield, knows where to the line of scrimmage is and when he decides to run, he tucks it and goes. Seems to have that pocket presence instinct too. Me like this young mans potential.
  7. Welcome to a communistic governing concept... all about the few and their authority over the many.
  8. I'm sure I'm not alone here but dang, where's the media here. Why no outside media pressure addressing the ineptitude of B1G conference leadership. We're 3 weeks out from first pitch and still no schedule news.. The CWS is represented by a B1G conference team 2 years ago (runner up to the championship but still..) and it's like the conference doesn't know the sport exists. WTH B1G? Media.. do your job and start asking the questions please and thank you!!
  9. Its hard for us who lived the glory years to comprehend how the team has fallen so far. Who'd have thought Bo's 9 win average would be a goal we hoped for? That said, I do think a "no bowl" season would be hard, very hard to swallow. I, like many, am tired of excuses and below mediocrity. Sadly, the entire men's athletics department is at below mediocrity with the exception of wrestling and baseball. There's simply "no" excuse for not being a top 25 football team. NONE
  10. There you go guessing... safe guess I'll give you that. Still doesn't justify risking the health of athletes... (and again, like you, I too am not happy the difference is, I'm ok with conference only, better this than no season at all.)
  11. I'm not disagreeing with you @FrantzHardySwag I'm simply stating that IMO athlete safety out weights competitive risks. Keep the athlete's safe while allowing them to compete. Might seem foolish (does seem foolish) when discussing a 40 min trip but i'm ok with it if it keeps our athletes healthy. Besides, I've yet to hear any of our athletes complaining. The only complaints are coming from the public boards..
  12. I didn't post that I thought they'd be safer.. I posted "I'm OK with incompetence "if" it ensures the safety of our athletes". Key word "if"... Does it, whose to say? My point is, the safety of the athletes should be our first priority. Not the game but the athlete.
  13. I'm Ok with incompetence if it ensures the safety of our athletes. It's not like they won't be allowed to play nor if successful enough in their efforts that they won't be rewarded with post conference play. Everyone speculated that a 7 game season would remove the B1G's chances at a natty yet the B1G was in the championship game. If a B1G team shows competitive strength they will most certainly be rewarded with post season play. I for one want our athletes safe, healthy and confident.. I'm ok with the "no" out of conference games strategy.
  14. "Regarding Tom Rathman" Wonder what type of Special Teams Coordinator he'd make? I'd imagine he'd be a hard nosed, run through the blocker type coach. Either knock them out of your way or we'll find someone who will. (that's how I imagine he'd coach.)
  15. you mean like say.. maybe Navy's OC.. add in some sincere attempt at running some option offense? Thought everyone agreed, that offense has long since past. Personally, I'd like frostie to meet with Andy Reid and Company.. throw a little Bieniemy flare into his playbook.. A playbook mind you that each week they create one set just for that game with 2 (maybe 3) multiple off the set.
  16. You know guys/gals... seeing the transfers and declarations to the nfl it's not hard to figure out where our issues lie. Frostie has to correct the offensive side of the ball. Players are leaving because whatever is missing, whatever is slowing development is becoming alarming. It's already been confirmed that we didn't bowl because the offense wasn't up for it. Chin's defense and defensive players seem to have that winning mentality that is obviously lacking on the offensive side and that is what needs to be corrected. We won't win until the offense decides to actually play with some sincere attitude. If that means replacing the entire offensive coaching group.. Just do it!!
  17. We all would.. the largest portion of this thread is hypothetical hence the reason I didn't include your #3.. We all hope he commits and is both happy with the commitment and reaches his max potential. That however would kill this thread
  18. Really? Is it "maddening" or is it "stoic". I'd say for sure its time tested, team oriented, proven consistency that also happens to provide for each of it's members a very substantial participation check. In another words.. I'm willing to tolerate their few inconsistencies for the overall consistent normalcy of the stability of success as a conference.
  19. so question/poll, choose 1: Which would you rather have. Personally, I'd chose the second option even if the player never achieves the hype. 1. A local recruit, undecided and somewhat overwhelmed with the decision decides to stay with the local choice and commits just to later regret his decision. (none come to mind here) or.. 2. A local recruit, also undecided and somewhat overwhelmed with the decision decides to travel a far to spread his wings and fly but after a year or two decides he'd rather be home. (Like SF did) As for Avante, I like that he's strong enough to change his mind, courageous enough to speak softly and calm enough to show patience. I wish for him the best be it as a husker or any other.
  20. I'm guilty of that... I made an absolute statement based on assumption and i'm being rightfully laughed at. foolish of me to post as i did.
  21. One has to wonder how much pressure these young men have on their shoulders. Hope his parents are included in the decision making process and that he leans on those whom he has in his circle.
  22. He's staying with his original commitment. Minny will get him. Time to move on!! Wish him the best. Can't blame a young man for wanting to spread their wings and fly away. GL to you Avante!
  23. sick hype video... gave me chills... so anxious to watch our ladies shed their will on opponents... Hoping its another championship season for them and coach Cook!! GBR!!!
  24. I think Frostie knows his time of excuses has come to an end. He a football season this year in spite of mr. covid. Players developed, playbook developed, experience gained and most of the seniors are returning. Excuses won't be anything more than shameful admittance of not having the answers. Pretty sure all on here feel that way.
