  1. Dow: 18,259.60, +371.32, (+2.08%) S&P 500: 2,131.52, +46.34, (+2.22%) Nasdaq: 5,166.17, +119.80, (+2.37%)Nov 7, 2016 4 years ago they must have been so exited that Trump will be gone in 2020 that has to account for the 12,000 point gain.
  2. taken from the article: The latest catalyst: It appears that a formal transition from President Donald Trump to President-elect Joe Biden is finally underway. And that follows more promising coronavirus vaccine developments on Monday, as well as sources confirming to CNN that former Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen will be Biden's nominee for Treasury Secretary. Shares of travel related companies, such as airlines, cruise lines and hotels, also continued to rebound on hopes of a more normal economy in 2021. Shares of Carnival (CCL), Delta (DAL) and Marriott (MAR) were all higher. I guess reading is fundamental: less uncertainties combined with the prospects of a partially stable 2021. Didn’t see the “yeah Trump is gone, buy, buy, buy, sentiment listed”.
  3. I’m fine right where I’m at. Democrats actively chose to vote no on Covid relief. it’s undeniable that McConnell put a Covid bill on the floor for $500 billion in relief and the Democrats did not want that relief to move forward and voted no.
  4. Not denying that happens and it’s no different than the treasury policy during the Obama years. Free money all around isn’t sustainable and I hope you agree it’s been happening since long before Trump. and I hope you will agree that @knapplcwas spewing nonsense when he said the market is rising because everyone in the market is happy Trump is leaving which is just not true. It’s vaccine and treasury related upswing.
  5. Just cause @knapplc says it’s a sham doesn’t actually make it a sham. Do I have to read it a certain way in order for it to not be your opinion? Maybe I was fundamental enough when reading the words ya linked to. it’s undeniable that McConnell put a Covid bill on the floor for $500 billion in relief and the Democrats did not want that relief to move forward and voted no. Full stop.
  6. Gotcha. A link to your thoughts. The Senate tried to get money where it’s needed and Schumer and the Democrats votes no. Full stop.
  7. That’s just not true. The market has been rising since the initial Pfizer news. It’s vaccine related, though it could be a sugar high if unemployment starts to rise again because of the shutdowns.
  8. Maybe you work in Canada I guess, I don’t know. I said single-payer will have worse wait times, and as you know with working in medicine like you do, longer wait times can lead to worse outcomes.
  9. You say you work with doctors, nurses, and clinicians yet seem to not understand basic facts about the payer system. By your standards UHC, or Aetna, or the Blues are each considered a single payer system because everyone who has insurance through one of those specific plans gets the payers portion of the billables paid for by that plan.
  10. Sorry but I find that hard to believe that EVERY single person believes that way and quite frankly that leads me to believe you didn’t try. comparing life expectancy rates amongst countries can be like comparing apples to oranges. Just look at how each country classifies infant mortality for starters. Then take into account diet. Then take into account the dollars spent on the last year of life here vs other countries.
  11. You are the one who keeps bringing up Covid relief money to big business as a reason to forgive student loans not me. I just respond to your silly argument. If we are going to forgive some debt, why should there be winners and losers in the process? Why is student loan debt more important to forgive than mortgage debt? Than car debt?
  12. so you were not for Covid relief?? And if that’s the rational for giving free money for everything else going forward, can’t wait for my direct deposit to pay off all my bills and get me a second home.
  13. Good idea. Forgive the interest, make it 0% and extend the terms to 20-30 years. Deferments for being unemployed. Change BK laws to include student loans. No reason to forgive the debt.
  14. Apples are apples and oranges are oranges. Comparing US to Norway no bueno.
  15. Is UHC a single payer system? Everyone who has UHC has their claims paid by them. The answer is off course not. UHC is a payer within in a group of payers of our healthcare system. we don’t have single payer healthcare and hopefully we never will. I will continue to ask if people will do this: Ask your doctors that work in private clinics and see what they think about single payer healthcare/M4A. The providers are essential here, if you have a brain drain of providers because it is no longer worth it to practice medicine you end up with worse healthcare and longer wait times.
  16. 5 police officers tackling what seems to aBe an unarmed peaceful person who happens to be out past curfew seems like those procedures could use reform
  17. Sounds good and sorry posting in the wrong thread. Not sure why it was stated this way by the previous poster but I appreciate how you handled it.
  18. Ummmm...please re-read. As your post shows: 1) I never said people won’t wait longer than 60 days. I said the wait will be closer to 60 days. 2) I referenced Medicaid and free clinics, not Medicare. 3) There are many different private payers in our system of healthcare, there are government payers in our system of healthcare, there are public/private payers in our system of healthcare. We don’t have single payer!
  19. How is that NOT on topic. A video post of how the police handled a guy for sin of being out past curfew?
  20. You know how the rules of the Senate work don’t you
  21. Why was it blocked? Could have provided much needed relief.
