If that happened Frost might as well save himself the embarrassment and take an early buyout. We might want to consider going back to a hurry up offense because the only way we'd survive the season is try to make every game a shootout like he did at UCF. Yea it's pretty easy to think that could be a part of it. As an employer I know what's it's like to have to pay to obtain talent. And sometimes said talent may be better than what you have. Also know from experience that if you pay said talent more than what you currently have, they are either in your office very quickly asking for a raise or they are looking for a new job.

This was exactly my point when I said NIL is going to create more problems for coaches. I'm not saying that's what is happening here but just think about this situation. We're begging boosters to try to get Mathis $100k in NIL deals so we can get him here, because we need him. But if you're Casey Rogers or Ty Robinson and you're getting say $5-10K in NIL deals and you're just as important to this teams success, how does that make you feel. Can't blame the guy for testing the waters. It's hard to imagine that this won't create some animosity amongst teammates. A coaches nightmare honestly.

Likely all part of a bigger plan to have Raiola commit to the Buckeyes so they turn away Davis, then he will flip to Nebraska in the final hour. This will leave them no time to sign a qb and will likely ensure dominance in his 3 years here.

I'm guessing we're somewhere between not as good as we all hoped and better than what we showed in the spring game. Middle of the road B1G team would be a safe bet.

Hopefully after a few years the dust settles and it's actually used how it was intended. Right now it's just the wild west. Hard for Alabama to like it when they were basically able to pick and choose whoever they wanted anyway, so this helps other teams a lot more than it helps them. But coaches know that this is just going to create a whole new set of issues for them to deal with down the road, I don't blame them for not liking it.

Can't argue with any of these really. I thought Smothers might stick it out but I have a feeling Purdy will be the #2 guy by fall. I think the only other one close to sniffing the field is Pola-Gates but it seems like he's going to get passed up again.

At times it seems this staff has focused too much on getting guys with tremendous size or length and not enough on just getting hood football players. Very few have worked out.

Yea he got whooped. I had heard a while ago if Ezra Miller would never see the field here and I’d say that was correct. He got flat embarrassed by Jimari Butler. I’m guessing Corcoran would move back to LT in any case that Teddy was out, we have no one else. Side note, did Hunter Anthony play yesterday?

Interesting tidbit at the end when Frost talking about 7-8 of the best guys being out and he says they will all be back for full go for summer conditioning. Hopefully that’s good news for Fidone. Don’t want to get too optimistic but you’d think if he was done for the season he would of announced it now.

Embarrassing

I just wonder how it's going to work when they spend all this money on these recruits and they never play a down for the program. I know boosters are willing to throw around some stupid money but you'd think at some point they're going to want to guarantee at least some return on their investment.

You might think that but so far Nebraska is behind in the NIL race. There are a lot of schools that are basically buying their recruiting class and we are not there. Hopefully some big businesses can step up to the plate and we can keep pace with the other schools. But by all means if we can use it to our advantage and it can help bring us back to the top, then I will be 100% supportive of it haha.

Yea I realize but you're talking about a select few players, bag men dropping some bags of cash with $10k or a nice car for mamma. Now we're talking about almost every single player and we're talking about probably having to basically pay $100k to get a grad transfer defensive end who is maybe above average, certainly not a superstar. Or a million dollars to get a 5 star QB. Just seems like players are going to be basing their education and future to a certain extent on making a few extra dollars at one school vs another. This is totally different than what has went on in the past and really not comparable.

Kinda sucks that we're getting to the day and age where it's literally coming down to the highest bidder to sign kids.

I feel like you kind of know what you're getting with Farmer, serviceable. I know Tyreke Johnson came here to play corner but it doesn't seem like he's even sniffing the top unit there. But I'm sure if they thought he'd make a better safety they would have done that already.

Thompson only has one more year after this season, so maybe if Smothers is still here and clearly ahead of him then possibly but I would say it's a little early to say that's a foregone conclusion.

Will be our highest drafted player since?? And we only managed to win 10 games. Sad
