  1. Really bad deal is traveling far and spending big money to watch our guys Play and then have to endure a long drive or flight home after another butt kicking. I used to go to one away game, all home games and the bowl game, now it’s just the home games. loved the short drive to Manhattan and going to Harry’s and Ames going to wallaby’s knowing we would usually head home a win. too many good reasons to stay in the big 10 but do miss the short drives
  2. True but the article clearly states warren isn’t qualified for the job, because unlike other league commissioners, he has no experience in college athletics. Warren does not understand how these organizations work. All of his experience is in the nfl. So he is learning on the job at more than $2,000,000 per year. Terrible hire , but it won’t matter a hill of beans to some who will insist on carrying his water no matter how inept the guy is.
  3. This is true, the goal of any public entity is to grow larger and more powerful. I owned a compNy that did outsourced service work for our state. Most December’s were a bonanza for us as several departments had not spent their budgets. So they either made up make work projects for us or we just billed them for what They had left over and then did the work the following year. They always spent their budget because the automatic increase the next year would be based on the higher amount. My guys hated it there, the state workers were absolute expert savants on how to waste time and money. They Had one guy who spent most of his time managing the area fantasy football league. don’t get me started on my experiences working with ops, it gets worse lol
  4. I’m not sure about the Nebraska parents filing a lawsuit. But I am going to love seeing the transcripts and maybe tapes of went on behind closed doors with the ads and presidents, when that information is shared. Kevin warren is sweating bullets that this information never sees the light of day. Because if it becomes public he is going to be exposed as the incompetent fool he is . He is made of Teflon, he can’t be fired, but the nfl commissioner job will be a no go,
  5. Moos is right on the razors edge on this. We never got any favors from the big 10 when it comes to sports, so kudos to him for pressing the envelope. Call things out for what they are, Hail Moos!
  6. Exactly bill moos said on the radio that us playing in the spring vs everyone else playing in the fall makes us look like a jv program. i love that guy.
  7. I’m angry too but he won’t be let go. The university presidents are appreciating having warren take the heat for the decision. They also hired him, going to look bad that they hired the wrong guy. And as the first black power 5 commissioner, they don’t want any additional scrutiny of firing someone like that
  8. Looks like the kids will practice 12 hours per week no pads no contact allowed limit of 5 hours of on field instruction 2 days off So strength and conditioning would be more of an in season type routine I’m guessing. they can get better at scheme stuff And some base tech stuff, but without pads it’s limited It’s all new territory, so who knows what the best way to attack this is. At the end of the day it will be up to Frost to keep the guys motivated and learning. Hope he puts some team building and fun stuff in to keep their attitudes positive. Going to be hard for the players to stay up, not knowing when you actually get to play, https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/nebraska-can-still-practice-even-though-there-wont-be-a-football-season-this-fall/article_236afefd-3d22-526f-a63d-b293620239eb.amp.html
  9. For those that think all Warren is is a ballot counter and mouthpiece, why in the world would you pay someone millions of dollars a year to do that? You could easily outsource that job to someone in India for pennies on those dollars . https://blog.hubstaff.com/virtual-assistant-companies-in-india/
  10. I’m not blaming warren for us not having a season. It rests on him and the presidents that voted no. The reports state warren aggressively advocated for ending the season. I blame him for being a terrible communicator, not having the protocols in place For fall football and not having the data points and details for having a spring season. I blame him for using a fraudulent study to close down the season, dancing around the issues and not being transparent .i blame warren for wanting to be first to cancel and him not cooperating with other conferences. I blame him for not delaying the fall season until more data comes out rather than move to a January schedule that will never happen. I blame him for coming out with a Revised fall schedule And changing his mind less than a week later with no explanation as to what changed. I blame him for still being in Minneapolis when the big10 offices are in Chicago. He’s done a terrible job so far with everything but his get out the vote campaign for the 2020 election.
  11. So his family and son were given the option to play or not play. Not sure why our conference shouldn’t give our kids and their parents the ability to make the same choice.
  12. Great points! Absolutely and bill moos understands this. Many of us have been going to games for 40 plus years, it is a given. We don’t plan for it, it’s just automatic, part of the routine, we go. Don’t give it a second thought. With all the games being televised now, and the cramped quarters of our seats, wwl era bathrooms, no booze, long walks for parking, bad weather and terrible concessions- and living the experience of not attending. I can see fewer fans in the seats when we come back. I will be back for 2021, but the watch parties become more appealing every year.
  13. Moos was on the radio stating he’s not a fan of bubble dome football sec and acc playing will be over, he thinks fans will have had their fill of college football he says nba bubble games with no fans have gotten terrible ratings he thinks there isn’t enough recovery time for the kids to play the following fall wont help the local economies if games are all away I love how moos stands up for our program and gets it, without being a d!(k . He’s a deep thinking realist , but able to get his thoughts That may not be popular into the fray without appearing to be a loon. Trump should study this guy or hire him lol https://www.google.com/amp/s/theindependent.com/sports/college/huskers_hq/bill-moos-says-the-milk-has-been-spilled-when-it-comes-to-fall-football/article_b9a56a90-e344-11ea-bce0-338bbc0e6fb1.amp.html
  14. My perspective is going to be different due to me living and working in a part of each conference . Yes diverse and great people in every spot but the majority cultures, what is important to them is so very different. Areas I lived and worked in sales , so I talked to lots of the same guys for long periods of time and covered lots of ground bay area- state of California only. Some of the most amazing and hard working people in the world are farming here in the valley and eastern Cali. Could easily be midwesterners. But majority is liberal seattle- Washington only. Very liberal dallas- had 4 states-Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana. Some of the coolest people in the world in okc, Texas hill country and west Texas. Conservative Denver- Colorado only- liberal florida panhandle- florida, Alabama, mississipi, Louisiana-Very conservative. Omaha -Des Moines- lincoln covering Nebraska, iowa, South Dakota. Conservative Worked here for companies based in New York City and Boston- so I’ve been to both spots for a grand total of maybe 70-80 days- never lived there. Very liberal Love our country, have great friends in all those spots , but we are very different by region, closest to us is west Texas
  15. This thing has broken right down political fault lines for the most part States that went red in 2016 are playing football: Sec-alabama Florida Georgia Tennessee Arkansas South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky Missouri Texas Big 12 all red -Texas Oklahoma Kansas iowa West Virginia Acc-red : North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina , Pennsylvania , Florida Outlier blues: New York, Virginia no go blues: pac 12- California, Oregon, Washington, colorado, Arizona outlier Red- Utah big 10 yeahs - reds - Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio, pennsylvania, Indiana nos- tied states: Michigan, Wisconsin blues no-new York, Maryland. , Illinois, Minnesota So really easy to see why the sec, big 12 and acc we’re so unified to play we also see why the pac 12 was so unified not to play Very obvious to see why the big 10 was so split, we Are are not politically homogenous at all like the other conferences. At the end of the day culturally our country differs a bit from area to area and in some places football is important and in others not so much . Looks like university presidents either think like their constituants or they just voted for those interests
  16. Talking about liability, looks like Death Star injury lawyer coalition is happy football is going to be played. I’m guessing they are hoping that Illinois phd is wrong and that there will be at least 1death. Not sure why waivers aren’t being used? https://m.startribune.com/scoggins-warren-big-ten-fumbled-everything-but-the-decision-itself/572161642/
  17. This is a pro warren article, supporting knapplecs position castigating the presidents for casting their votes, being untruthful about the process and running for the hills with warren holding the bag . Sure, some of that going on, but he still has done a terrible job so far. But by warren agreeing to be the scapegoat, he’s taking his beating and only thrown Nebraska under the bus. The presidents owe him big time now, he’s not going anywhere until he wants to https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.indystar.com/amp/5617842002
  18. Revised data shows the probability of a covid death in d1 college football may be zero https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2020/08/13/big-ten-football-professor-says-data-doesnt-support-shutdown-iu-football-indiana-hoosiers/3368291001/?utm_source=AMP&utm_medium=UpNext
  19. The pac10 were the ones leading that charge. They seem to care the least about football, Are upside down already when it comes to sports, so we might see that whole ship sink, good time to toss in the towel. Add in all their other demands of giving 2percent of the league revenue to black lives matter and racial quotas on all coaches and admins- might be a good time to just close up shop. It’s possible. if any teams like Utah, Arizona state or Oregon May want to keep playing without all the requirements, maybe Texas gets its wish and those teams join the big 12.
  20. At the end of the day it’s not going to matter a hill of beans if the sec or big12 play football this fall or not, Kevin Warren will never be fired. If the big10 fires Warren, the leagues presidents will look bad for hiring the wrong person for the job. They will never admit to doing that in masse. Also as the First black power5 commissioner, any firing is going to come under a huge amount of scrutiny and negative press. For better or worse, He’s here until he wants to leave. Nevermind that yesterday’s announcement came from minneapolis And not the big offices in Chicago. I did see an update on the fact that now 71 percent of our athletes are registered to vote, so got that big weight off our shoulders thank goodness. looking forward to seeing what Brohm comes up with for our spring schedule.
  21. I think Warren is on very shaky ground here and operating from position of weakness unless all the conferences have kids that get sick and they choose to cancel. He has been far less than impressive.
  22. Jury is still out, I’m skeptical but not giving up on him. The snaps and oline play was poor the first half of the season. Injuries and a very weak receiving corps didn’t help matters. Add in lack of depth at quarterback and maybe some coaching directives and that’s why Martinez didn’t run even when there were big patches of green available. The running back spot was weak early, but mills came along nicely towards the end - so a tsunami of bad events, not all Martinez fault, hurt the offense. He has to be quicker and more consistent at making decisions and he has to run more. Our offensive line will be much improved and with more quality depth at quarterback, Martinez needs to run more. Imo rotate Luke in for a series or 2 every half and if Martinez faulters and Luke has a hot hand, go with him.
  23. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/uw/2020/08/18/revised-big-ten-football-season-could-begin-january/5602516002/ Starting in January won’t work or solve many of the issues and will create new ones. Not enough indoor practice area Domed stadium games means no bailouts for the local economies like lincoln Season would be in middle of flu season
