  1. First quarter of the first game, on the road with a brand new coaching staff and 1 billion new players. I’ll take 0-0. No matter what it looks like.
  2. I’ve dealt with my own mental health issues and went to therapy for it on many occasions. I am the son of a first generation immigrant family, my dad put us in bankruptcy and lost our home, when I was 10, grew up with a single mother who was never around because she worked all the time, lived on my own since I was 16, I was homeless for a year in my 20s, and I fought through. And I did it with far fewer resources than this kid has right now. I know not everyone is the same and different people struggle in different ways, but it’s hard for me to conjure up empathy or sympathy here. I wish the kid good luck, just not at Nebraska.
  3. If this is how this kid responds to not getting his way, and letting things out of his control affect him, he’s in for a rude awakening in life. This was an opportunity to deal with adversity in a healthy way, and he fell flat.
  4. Why would an NFL team take a risk on this kid, I agree. Raw talent, sure. But a lot of kids have raw talent and also have their head and priorities in order. To play in the NFL these days, you have to be a dude. Not just a physical specimen, but intelligent, controlled, and driven in the right ways.
  5. I mean, I get how that feeds into his mental health issues, but life is bigger than football. A lot of things haven’t gone the way that I wanted to in life, but I didn’t throw my life away because I didn’t get my way. This kid has a free college opportunity at an amazing university, and all sorts of professional support to prepare himself for something else. The fact that he’s so singularly focused on football is the mental health issue, not whether he can play or not.
  6. Exactly. This kid has more resources, opportunities and support available to him than 95% of people his age and he decided not to take advantage of them. That’s on him, no one else. A lot of people have lives that are more difficult than this kids’, and they don’t have these resource, opportunities or support, and they find a way to push through. Tired of people’s excuses these days. Do you have a problem? Get help. If you don’t, that’s on you and literally no other person. and do people make mistakes and deserve another chance? You bet. I just don’t think it should be at the University of Nebraska.
  7. Idiot. No excuses. Don’t care if you’re young or a sad little boy. This is plain stupid. Enjoy mediocrity, dips!t. I hope Rhule cuts him loose ASAP and opens up the schollie for someone deserving.
  8. 19-17, Nebraska over the Groundhogs
  9. He’s the highest rated high school recruit we’ve ever had on our team. I know that doesn’t mean much after three years of college. Hopefully this staff doesn’t just develop on the field, but off of it. I think we all see how the last staff lacked in both of those departments. If Rhule and Co. can take immensely talented guys like him and Betts and nurture their heads and hearts, a lot is possible.
  10. Everyone knows the S on the Stanford helmet stands for schmuck.
  11. Uh, the guy this thread is named after.
  12. Pretty sure it’s Betts. I don’t think it’s smoke, I think it’s a rock. I think it speaks to mending relationships and then day by day, stacking those rocks until you’re at the top of your own mountain.
  13. I have a feeling this staff is quite a bit more supportive of their student athletes than the last one. Perhaps Betts will really benefit from being led by adults. I am cautiously optimistic about him pulling it together. If so, our WR room is looking in decent shape with Betts, Washington, Kemp, Brown, Fleeks and maybe a surprise or two from the youths.
  14. I agree with you and I’m not advocating that Prime is a better hire, but he does have the #1 transfer class in the country right now.
