  1. Fine. Consider it year 1 again. That is a reasonable excuse for winning 2 or 3 conference games. It is NOT an excuse for losing to Western Illinois. Or UC Riverside. Or Southern Utah. Or North Dakota. Or Sam Houston State. All at home.
  2. Getting destroyed on the boards. Again. By a school whose athletic department budget is about one tenth of Nebraska’s. Again.
  3. I can buy a 6 year rebuild theory to compete for the upper 3rd of the Big Ten. But there is absolutely no excuse - NONE - to lose at home to the likes of Western Illinois and Sam Houston St; along with the other ridiculous losses we have seen under Hoiberg. His program is a complete joke.
  4. Losing to Western Illinois and Sam Houston State doesn’t mean you are rebuilding. It means you are incompetent.
  5. Check back at the end of the season. Losing a game like this means you stink. Review the multitude of NU hops seasons that include early season losses (at home) to directional schools like Western Illinois. You’ll see that it signals Nebraska is a rotten team. Again.
  6. There is no way to spin this - it’s an absolutely devastating way to start the season. Losing to a team like Western Illinois means you can forget about even the most modest expectations for this team. .500 season? Forget it. Dare you hope for maybe even an NIT bid. Forget it. Losing this game means NU will be lucky to reach double digits in wins. NU checked all of their typical boxes. Missed 4 of 6 free throws in the final minute and gave up 2 treys. Ridiculous. Get ready for another abysmal season.
  7. I checked to see that maybe Western Illinois was at least a good Summit league team. They are not.
  8. Uhhh, c’mon Huskers. Please don’t destroy all hope on opening night.
  9. I accept these changes, and this accept Frost returning for a 5th season. I’m anxious to see the new hires. Really hoping for some guys with measurable success at P5 schools.
  10. Well, definitely closer than I expected. Good thing I don’t gamble for a living. But same old, same old - opportunity is there, but NU didn’t execute consistently enough to change the result. Special teams are again a disaster. Two missed FGs; 13 yard punt that set OSU up for their first TD; AM missing an open receiver for a first and goal…. No bowl game. Again.
  11. Doing what bad football teams do - holding penalty negates a first down and kills the drive.
  12. Doing what bad football teams do - drop an int, then give up a first down on the next play.
  13. Doing what bad football teams do - failure to take advantage of a break.
  14. If I were in a location with legalized sports betting, I would put my entire weekend’s entertainment budget on Ohio State -14.
  15. Another classic game where the opponent did absolutely nothing special. They just played their game and waited for NU to screw up. A couple of things stood out to me. First, the pick 6 was bad enough - especially since he nearly had one on the first drive. But the play before, we picked up a first down on a nice option play that was nullified by a holding call. Instead of 1st down in Purdue territory, we are facing 2nd and 15. The asinine desperation, shovel flip INT is arguably Martinez’s worst decision ever - in a career full of bad decisions. Worse yet, it came right after a great punt and great stop to give NU great field position. Instead, the field was flipped by Purdue and they seized control of the game. I’ll add the missed opportunity at the end of the half to the list of mistakes. A complete game-changer is missed. And - what the hell was up with our pass coverage? How many completions came without a defender anywhere near the receiver? It was one uncontested catch after another. It seems we are better off with just one week of poor coaching than 2….
  16. This one score thing is kind of a joke. A LOT of them are games just like this. We score a late TD to get within one score, but the game just wasn’t that close.
  17. We didn’t learn anything new. What we already knew/feared was merely reinforced. Nebraska is one of the most poorly coached teams at any level of football. This team will go 3-9.
  18. Nebraska just keeps getting worse every year under Frost.
  19. Soooo, after a disasterous first half, the black shirts got 6 stops in the 2nd half. 6 straight stops to open the 2nd half! 4 times, NU got possession with a chance to take the lead. They whiffed all 4 times. Not exactly prime-time players on the offense.
  20. Soooo….we miss a PAT; miss a chip shot FG from straight on; give up another ridiculous safety. That is 6 free points. So instead of being down 30-16 on our last drive, it could have been 28-20. We could have been going for 2 to tie at the end. Not to mention 1st and goal inside the 5 and coming away with nothing. Not to mention a false start on 3rd and 5 at the 25 yard line down 5 points in the 4th quarter. We just give games away. This was another
