  1. OK - I think it was mentioned before, but I wouldn't be surprised if they lined up a LB....Octavien maybe....on the end and let him speed rush on many plays. Demarrio Williams ring a bell???
  2. SW Iowa....Glenwood to be exact. And I can't bash on the wife...we've only been married 3 weeks. Plenty of time for her to slowly train me. As far as couches, we are planning on making chili, nacho dip and jalapeno bread. Pretty sure the couch, recliner, and porcelain throne will be on fire all day....win or lose.
  3. That's who I am hoping to have the big/surprise/breakout game. All of the focus is on their big WR's picking on our less-than-stellar secondary. Wouldn't it be great to give them a taste of their own medicine and show all the 'experts' that we aren't the only team with weaknesses?
  4. Maybe Leon Jackson is back on the team again, put on 60 lbs. since he's been gone and will be lining up across from center.
  5. My guess is no. I think that USC is so on top of their game that the coaching staff and players will not let the Bush investigation to distract them. Though we can use any little motivator we can get!!!
  6. I live in Iowa so my day is starting early with the Iowa/ISU game. I'm pretty sure that by the time the NU game is over, win or lose, I'll be so drunk that I wouldn't be able to do anything with that. Besides my wife might get pissed!
  7. I'm sure that there will be plenty of Linkin Park played at our football party. And as far as Tears for Fears - Disturbed did a cover of "Shout" on one of their albums...pretty damn good. Am I the only one that feels like a little kid before Christmas? I won't be able to sleep, I'll be flipping through channels in bed. Hopefully I don't wake up and find that Rudolph $hit in my stocking!
  8. If we win....I'm probably going streakin' through the quad with Frank the Tank.
  9. One more day of work?!?! How about one more day of reading the latest expert opinions, practice and injury reports, blogs and thread posts. Mix that in with listening to Rome, D.P. and everyone else giving the game to USC. Work....that cracks me up.
  10. Eminem has nothing on me....I can flow.
  11. It's been awhile since I tried to do something entertaining so I figured I'd waste my lunch hour dedicating a poem to this weekend's game: ---------- Well, September 16th is almost here Many preparing their food and beer. For the mighty Big Red are in L.A. With one huge game about to play. Fans have flocked to the Coliseum in droves Dressed in there finest Husker clothes. The 'SC fans may think were hicks but that's OK, we think they're pricks. Huskers warmed up with two easy teams But is Nebraska as good as it seems? All the backs were running for major gains And passes were sailing above like airplanes. We're all well aware that this is a bigger test Billy C. and the boys will have to be at their best. But the men from Troy have to be on their toes As their only opponent this year also blows. The game was close at half against Arkansas Them slow-footed boys with slow southern draws. But in the second half Booty put on a show Tossing 3 TD's he was feeling the flow. Now these two storied traditions will clash The dirt will fly and helmets will crash. The Trojans will have a huge upper hand A 19 point dog - expecting NU to can. "Not so fast my friend" as Corso would say The Cornhuskers have prepared for this day. Anyone in their right mind, on 'SC they'd bet Thinking there's no way they can be upset! Nebraska has a special weapon of course Husker Nation will be rooting full force. Many in shirts and hats blazen with red Some opting for the Blackshirt look instead. Nebraska needs perfection on both sides of the ball With a game like that, mighty USC could fall. And if it happens, watch all the Trojans cower As the stadium rings out "HUSKER!!!"....."POWER!!!"
  12. For Game Day: Hey Lee...Pull our head out of your ass! (Referring to when he goes under the table to put on the mascot head.) or Eighteen point Spread? Pick Nebraska! or Without a Bush, you expose your Booty. (Alternate being - One in the Booty is worth two in the Bush.) For ABC: Arnold Bets On The Cornhuskers! or Hey Brent, can we offer you a drink? or How do you spell PAC-10...well there's no "D".
  13. I believe that Rivals or Scouts ranks each class as they are exiting school and then compare them from when they were recruited to how they ended up. Leave the scouting to the coaches. Websites and magazines just create the frenzy for fans to sell subscriptions or get hits on their site to sell ad space. Sure it's fun to look at, but if they were THAT good at scouting....wouldn't they probably be on a great D-I staff? After all....great recruiters know where to look (and who to have the connections with) to find those diamonds in the rough that don't get a second look from the scouting media. There are plenty of 2 and 3 stars out there that aren't seen as superstars coming in, but end up taking over (or taking from) a starting job from a 4-5 star. Prove it on the field. I have no problem with a player believing they are great...it means they expect a lot of themselves...but show it to me first before you tell me about it.

Here's my latest composition....1 finger for #3 Oh Harrison your career was much to short, Your Husker mission you did quickly abort. A 5-star recruit you were supposed to be, But a little crybaby is all that we see. You first looked the part and played the role, "A national championship is my only goal." You said you'd be our best recruiting tool, And you made all the fans eager and drool. But then came the call from old Billy C., And a guy named Zac Taylor, his backup you'd be. A whole season you stood along coaches side, Just an onlooker along for the ride. Then with one hit, you got your big break, and in you ran to save us from K-State. So what did you do...nearly lost it all, Straight to the defender did you pass the ball. Husker fans thank god for that lucky late hit, It was right then and there we knew you weren't S--T. And as luck had it, we were saved on the ground, You should have offered your tailbacks a quick reacharound. A full offseason you sat, pouted and moped, The rumors were you got tanked and smoked dope. Spring drills came and went, now it's preseason ball. And on the depth chart you started to fall. You missed your first practice and left the state, For a good explanation Husker Nation did wait. A second practice you missed, and all were perplexed, Until you sent mommy a note through your phone using text. "I don't like it Mommy" You said "It's Unfair", "I want to throw the ball through the air". "Come home to mommy, my baby I'll coddle", And you drove straight home with the gas at full throttle. Well the time has come, and you're packing your bags, Give back your jersey, shoes, helmet and rags. Get off of our campus you conceited little boy, And have no worries, we have nothing but joy. So now it is time to bid our final farewell, You should probably just go hide in your shell. A much better team the Huskers will be, We salute with one finger our beloved #3.
  15. The buzz on Bowman was that he was going to be "ONE AND DONE". Beck....well, he didn't get the memo on what that meant. ONE completion, ONE interception, ONE game. Well I'm sure that all of us have no problem saluting him with ONE finger!!!
  16. How interesting. I was looking for an office assistant today and found this on Monster.... Harrison Beck Address: See listing for Evelyn Beck (My mom) or my car. Phone #: No number, just pick up the empty beer can tied to the string. E-mail: harrisonbeck@harrisonbeck.net - and see my sweet photos from High School. OBJECTIVE To find a starting job at Quarterback with a Major Division I University without having to compete for the job, attend all practices or take full contact. I would also like to have my Mom be brought on staff as well as a player personnel director. I strongly believe that one player is more important than the team concept and that creating and believing your own hype is the best hype. EXPERIENCE University of Nebraska - Lincoln August 2005-August 2006 PRACTICE: I attended a lot of practices during my Freshman year with the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. I took snaps from center and from the shotgun with the #1, #2 and #3 offenses. I also became familiar with the duties that come along with being a backup quarterback such as sitting on the bench, standing next to the coach and spitting in a quick burst. GAMES: I held the clipboard a lot for Coach Bill Callahan and called plays from the sideline for Zac "Mother F-er" Taylor. I did burn...well coach did...my redshirt against Kansas State University. When the pu--y #1 quarterback got his bell rung, I came in and saved the game making the team bowl elegible. In that game I had a completion with an interception. But the interception was just so I could record a tackle when I knocked the defender out of bounds. I also handed the ball off a lot to Cory Ross with my left and right hand and drew a penalty for a late hit. OTHER EXPERIENCE: Please contact my mother for my high school game tapes. EDUCATION University of Nebraska - Lincoln August 2005-August 2006 18 Credit Hours with a 2.8 Cumulative G.P.A. My G.P.A. would be better if I didn't have to carry the pressure of being an over-hyped quarterback coming out of high school. OTHER INTERESTS I love the finer parts of liquid chemistry and finding out how different mixtures of hopps, barley, grain alcohol react with each other. I also hope to further my agricultural and pharmaceutical interests as I have grown many green-leafy plants and enjoy studying their effects after drying and burning them. I also have a great passion for little brown mushrooms. My other interests include music. I have a rockin' band and we like to kick some ass in small clubs around Nebraska where we scare the locals with our lyrics. Our sound is similar to that of a train wreck combined with a construction zone along the interestate. Lyrically we have a sound something between Jabba the Hut and a belch. REFERENCES My mom. Please text message her for more information.
  17. I'm glad he's gone before the season and it's out of the way so they can focus on '06. It would be bigger news/distraction if it happened 4-5 games into the season. I do, however, have a few concerns: 1) Has Beau Davis learned where the training table is yet? Put some meat on that boy!!! 2) Not that Beck was an overly-capable backup (shown against K-State), but if something happens to Taylor...can we really expect much out of Ganz or Davis? 3) The biggest concern is the future. For '07 we were SUPPOSED to have 2 4/5-star recruits (Beck and Freeman) with a year or two of watching, learning and practicing under their belt battling for the starting job. Now they are both gone. My guess is that JUCO coaches are waiting by the phone for NU to start calling. Again, I tend to play the devil's advocate....but I believe it is a more realistic view to help balance out those fans who think that anyone who puts on a red jersey is a star.
  18. I played College Football '07 against Iowa on PS2 yesterday and Taylor threw for 410 with 5 touchdowns and no interceptions. So that's pretty much how I rate how someone will do on the season. :hmmm
  19. As long as one (or hopefully all of them) can pick up a blitz then I'll be happy.
  20. 6-6?!?! Drew Tait, may not be the best QB of all time, be he is good enough to win 6 games on his own. Bring back the Husker/Hawkeye series, now that they are on similar playing fields!!!! It was great when they did the home & home a few years back.....but the games weren't all that competitive.
  21. In the immortal words of a great thinker of today, Sir Allen Iverson... "Practice? We talkin' 'bout Practice??? PRACTICE?!?!"
  22. Plus, if things don't work out for Beck here he can always fall back on his music career. Wait...their music sucks. It'd be a shame if he put that full-ride scholarship thing to use and opened a book.
  23. I haven't liked the guy since he signed. To me he has ALWAYS come off as arrogant and cocky. Granted the 'promise' was made that he was the only QB being brought in when he was recruited, but last time I checked you need to be a real man to play college football. If he believed his own hype then he should have welcomed the competition and beat the others with his play. He's whining about not playing and that it was a mistake to come here? Correct me if I'm wrong, but if he were to have more patience than a 5 year old on Chrismas morning, he could still redshirt and have 3 years of elegibility....right? Most college major/successful programs don't hand over the reigns to an 18-19 year old to often. Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart...if I'm correct...sat their first year or two. Watching. Learning. Waiting for their time. It's very rare you find a QUALITY 4-year starter. Peyton Manning or Brady Quinn....Maybe I'm wrong...but I don't think the Beck will every be mentioned in the same category as those guys. Maybe Beck and Freeman can share a calling plan with unlimited Text Messaging as they b!tch about the cramps in their arms from holding the playbook on the sideline.

I think I need to re-write... "The Blackshirts are filled with true heart and grit, You can pass, you can run...they don't give a S--T. Bowman wasn't quite ready to be 'one and done', So he's back one more year to fuel the fun." How about now... "We thought the Blackshirts were primed and ready, But Bowman's ACL is now like spaghetti. Can the D hold up...It's quite hard to tell, So put in a different JUCO and give 'em hell!"

Like I said kids....it's just reality in my opinion. I was born and raised a Husker, so I live and die with them on every Saturday....but I also know when to put down the rose-colored glasses.
