  1. I'll take a mobile QB with an accurate arm over an athlete QB. Feel the pressure in the pocket, move around & keep looking downfield, scramble for a first when needed. Not Zach Taylor mobile (if such a thing), but ............. Tony Romo type (as my example). Only runs when no one is open, and he usually finds someone downfield by creating space with his feet. I like the hybird selections CMB put out there. Although I dont think Stephen McGee or Pat White can do well if trailing by two scores & the running game is shut down. That's why I always prefer a QB that is more of a thrower than runner.
  2. This pretty much sums it up for me as well. And I will include being a good sport. As for the article, I hate to read and hear this kind of stuff. Even though the master spin doctor of words continues to preach "we are hurting, it hurts, when we're doing the best we can" gets old when searching out for sympathy, the actions and crap the families and kids recieve is pathetic.
  3. These guys dont know the difference yet. They only know Cally and their previous HS years. It'll change. I'm sure guys like Meno Holt, Niles Paul, Curenski, Culbert, and any other towel waver will appreciate a new start to actually do something besides pass out gatorade. The guys who stink up each Saturday and get their PT week in and week out, stand behind their coach.
  4. Yah, it would be great to beat the snot out of KSate. However, Okie State didnt have it all, nor did Ball State or Texas A&M.
  5. It's a nice perspective. Edge goes to Gill. The opportunities were there, Gill went to Buffalo and gave it a shot. He's doing good things as the head coach. He's learning about managing and dealing with everything. Pelini still only wants to test drive a mercedes without owning a license.
  6. In the NFL guys are older and you have smaller rosters. In college guys are younger and can recover much faster Plus you're talking about a 17+ week schedule vs. a 12 week schedule The NFL.. those dudes are million dollar investments. You cant afford someone to get beat up & injured during practice & misses a game.
  7. I havent heard anything like that, but I dont know all the rules of the NCAA. I'm sure that teams regardless of their success get investigated at some point or another. It usually begins when something fishy gets leaked, i.e., rumors.
  8. 1985-86 - Georgia Southern (OC) 1987-94 - Hawaii (OC) 1995-96 - Navy (OC) 1997-2001 - Georgia Southern (HC) 2002-Present - Navy (HC) Now that is some serious experience. He's also wearing an N on his shirt. Interesting...
  9. One year at Auburn, plus this year makes good experience? As a D-coordinator? I dont think so. Someday sure. Give him a few years and he'll be at Alabama.
  10. Who else is approaching Gill? Sure, you could use that as logic. But I dont think the next Nebraska football coach will be decided by what the nation views as popular or "in".
  11. The thing about the NFL, it's a man's league. You can throw out any hardware you won in college, and the hype will get you only so far. You can throw out your combine BS scores too. And you cant play on talent alone. You have to bust your azz day in and day out, with the mentality that the next guy is battling for your job. You have to earn everything. Only the best play. And only the very best (and healthiest) stick around.
  12. Yes, I think he's happy with his decision and embraced Nebraska. He's not ashamed. And yes, he will play in the NFL. He might hold the clipboard most of the time. But if you dont follow the NFL, then all you have to do is play fantasy football to realize how often starting QBs go down with injury.
  13. It would count against the 85 cap total so in that regard, yes. Thanks BRFO, I wasnt sure how that worked.
  14. Question: If a player is a walk-on, and by his junior year earns a scholly, does it take away the number of scholly's provided to the immediate or next recruiting class?
  15. It's time to cut ties. The coach and QB get the credit most of the time, and they also get the blame. You always start at the top. That's not a newsflash, it's just how it's always been. When things are extremely shaky like they are, you make a change starting from the top. Cally is a decent person. Unfortunately, as a coach, he failed.
  16. Not a chance -- if Dr. Tom fires Callahan, he will have a new coach annouced within a week. I am pretty sure he has an idea of who he would want to talk to and the interviewing process will happen very quickly. We cannot go through a 6-8 week search for a coach again -- that is a bad sign and one of the things that got us Callahan last time. Dr. Tom will have a plan -- unlike Pederson. I agree he will have a plan. I would also like to find out a week later. But my guess was based on interviewing possible coaches that might be in a late Dec or early Jan bowl game. I wasnt sure of the ramifications of interviewing people during bowl games, or announcing a new hire while someone is still committed to a program with a game left. I think more than that, Dr. Tom would not want to cause a distraction for other teams, or steal the headlines.
  17. Great story brotha dawg. The significance of the story is worth keeping the hat. I'd hold onto it if I were you.
  18. There are several good candidates. However, to those that are ripping into skersfan for not wanting Pelini and for stating his reasons why, well y'all better ease up. I'm telling ya... not cool.
  19. "I wish IBR would show up and bring me some good news!" That is just so sick and funny at the same time!!! Maybe he'll open the shades to his bedroom window? Herbert the pervert. Damn.
  20. I think Bohl is doing a heckuva job where he is at, and I'm happy for him. I dont think things will change as far as him leaving there for the Big Red.
  21. I am jsut curious what they said because i honetly dont remember. Addison Mode i am not trying to take anything away from what Missouri, Texas, or K-State did in those games. Also i posted this as support for Pelini, and eventhough you are right that a maybe the defense jsut needed to make more plays. However when you are playing a team that has as much or more talent than you do, you cant make a bunch of mistakes. All those teams i beleive had as much or more talent than NU and when you give them that many chances you are going to get burned evenually. I went back and read the game recaps and i think that we would have lost to K-State and Texas even if our Ofense hadnt made all those mistakes. But the Missouri game was different, this little paragraph was from the official game recap: Turnovers...Nebraska 5 (4 fumbles, 1 interception)...Missouri 2 (2 interceptions)...After Josh Bullocks picked off Brad Smith on Missouri's first drive, the Huskers scored three plays later on a Lord-to-LeFlore 55-yard pass and made the extra point. After Josh Davis fumbled Missouri's punt on the ensuing drive, Missouri recovered at the NU 7-yard line...Missouri scored two plays later on a 6-yard Abron's run. On the ensuing short kickoff, upman Jack O'Holleran fumbled the kickoff and Missouri recovered at the NU 29, but Smith was picked off by linebacker Demorrio Williams, his first career interception. I-back David Horne fumbled on the Missouri 12 and the Tigers recovered with approximately 6:30 remaining in the first half. Missouri did not convert. In the fourth quarter, Nebraska's Lord fumbled and MU recovered on the Nebraska nine. The Tigers converted the turnover into seven points on a touchdown via a fake field goal. Behind 34-24 in the fourth, Lord threw an interception which Zach Ville returned 39 yards to the NU 7. Missouri scored two plays later. Nebraska has gained 21 turnovers this season (NU had 21 turnovers gained in 14 games last season), and turned them into 61 points, while opponents have gained 15 turnovers and turned them into 28 points (21 by Missouri). I was not trying to give Pelini's D a pass in these situations but you also cant crucify him for those games like some people have(thats why Pederson claimed he fired them). It's cool NP . I like the recaps, the stats and such. And I'm being honest by saying you did a great job with the research. I just wanted to give a different perspective. Those were three gut-buster games. I dont think its accurate to say the defense gave up so many points just because of a poor offense. That team had several guys that are now playing on Sundays (Demario Williams, Barrett Ruud, Scott Shanle, Fabian Washington, Josh Bullocks) BTW.
  22. It's a rumor board so I cant argue. I would have to agree that Turner is what TO likes character wise. And Gill has done some good things with a dead end program. I can see him getting hired. I would not have a problem with that. I dont think I will have a problem with any coach he hires. And that includes, yes, even Pelini. (If you dont know already, that says a lot coming from me).
