Cool... Is he replacing someone or will the scheme be 3-4?
  2. I still dont agree with the argument of more valuable. When you have 21 guys drafted into pro football from 06 (championship year) and 07, it doesnt sit that well with me. That's what UT had. That's a ton of talent. Plus Limas Sweed was a sophomore, and Jamaal Charles was a freshman. The argument can go either way, we all have our preferences. And that makes it fun. For me - Frazier = three straight National Title Game MVP Awards. Niice.
  3. I saw plenty of VY so I have my own thoughts. Yes he did win a championship for Texas over USC. But dont forget USC had a 4th and 1 and the ego of SCs coach went for it, and theh UT defense stopped them. Reggie Bush wasnt even on the field for that play. So it was a team effort, and VY had a spectacular (60 yard) drive. Prior to that game, VY was miserable in his two losses to OU. He beat them when OU was not at their best. And even throughout that championship season, they almost lost to KState. It wasnt determined he was one of the all-time greatest until after that game against USC. That's three years worth of starting at QB. Frazier on the other hand intimidated other teams. He refused to lose. There was a lot more confidence coming from him that filtered onto his team, more than I saw with VY. I have no doubt in my mind that Frazier was the best college QB ever. I'll never forgot prior to the Florida game during the media days he said that FLa. was a good team, but we are going to do what we do and win the game. Without blinking. Man that dude was tough, a leader & a winner. And for the other question about Mac Brown - the heat was always on that dude. Without Young, still no championship for him. Brown is a gracefull winner, but a miserable loser and points fingers. He gets one of the best recruiting classes every year. They should have been in three championship games by now. That one game was the only one in ten years. He is a good coach, but not a great coach. * My edit = my bad, VY loss to OU & Washington State (Bowl game). He didnt start against OU as a RS Frosh but still played enough to throw 2 INTs including one in the first quarter.
  4. That is too funny!!! "I promise I'll just have one or two" <Background> GO!! GO!! GO!! GO!!
  5. I care. I'm rooting for them as well. I dont think they've loss in like two weeks. They're playing good & are exciting to watch. What would make my World Series : Yankees vs Rockies (and Yankees win).
  6. The season is never over until the last game ends. Maybe those fans feel a little dissappointed that we are not looking like a National Championship contender, and that's why they feel like it's over. Other than I dont get it.
  7. "If you smell what the Rock is cooking".. That dude is pretty cool. Does good movies.
  8. Thanks UNO. That's kinda sad. I'm not going to say anything. Better off just biting my lip.

    Week 6 Upsets

Playing at home, #23 Purdue (5-0) beats #4Ohio State (5-0). Florida beats LSU. In my mind it really isnt a legit upset.
  10. I agree with you that he has gained some valuable experience, no doubt. My thing is that he needs to start off somewhere small, like in the WAC or MAC, get some experience first and prove some success before he ever gets an offer from a prestigious football program - i.e., Nebraska, Michigan, Penn State, LSU, Florida, etc. Remember Chizik was considered a defensive wizard at UT, and everyone had trouble against that defense. He's not doing so well at ISU, but maybe in time. But the point is that he is learning on the job. Not good enough here.
  11. coz has no past record of excellence, period. he is just a crony of cally's and may end up costing cally his next extension in 2011! Yeah, but would you be willing to give Cosgrove the head job based on that? That's my point. That's why I don't understand the bogasms, when he sucked too against good teams. Bo had no record of excellence, period. Would things have been different if he were head coach? Think about that one for a minute. I think it's a sore subject to the 185 people who liked him, or else they are basing it on hindsight. I dont get the whole "look at what he's doing now" point of view. He was and is still just a D-Coordinator. Let ISU break in those guys with no coaching experience. By the way bro, that was a great analogy you had.
  12. First I doubt he came here thinking he would be the headcoach the next year or have to fear that the whole coaching staff would be cut like bait. (Nebraska was known as being very loyal towards their coaching staff at the time.) He only threw his hat in after Solich was fired and he probably was crying and complaining because he knew what a joke the fake interview process that Turner Gill and him went through. Peterson already had his mind made up and the Miami Dolphins screwed that up. It's funny how you think Pellini should have turned around a defense in one year but keep giving BC excuses after four years. It's not like Texas or Missouri were terrible offenses that year either. I see what you are saying. The way I phrased a quick response was prolly not the best way. He was hired around Christmas when the Huskers were 7-7. I'm okay with my opinion to believe that a light bulb went off in his head that if he did a good job on defense, and the offense was bad, maybe he could roll it into a head coaching job should Solich get fired. Makes logical sense to me. He did express his desire to be the coach after the firing of Solich. Make no mistake about it. And you are right that he & Gill were not seriously considered for the job by the AD. Regardless, Pellini still acted like a crybaby in the media when he didnt get the head coach job. By the way, I have never cared for BC since he was hired. I've never given an excuse either, as you put it. So I'm not sure where your last comment is coming from. I still support the Huskers though.
  13. Sounds to me like he will be used on blitzed packages or a spy on Chase. Then again, he might not even see the field.
  14. "Give it time. It'll fill out." "You think so?" "I know so" That is waaay too funny!!!!!!
  15. Welcome to the board. Pellini wasnt a hot commodity at the time. Like someone mentioned he jumped ship a lot prior to coming to Nebraska & then after one year he expected to be the head coach. He cried and complained in the media when the job wasnt being given to him. Boo hoo. What did he do up until then? No head coaching experience. As for his defense, they gave up 41 to Missouri that year, and 31 to Texas. Thanks for the input. Speed always helps on D. Good luck to Mizzou as well.
  16. I agree. I thought there was no way we would lose by 17 in '03 and '05 and that happened. It could be a 2 td game either way, who knows. If the Huskers start the game asleep like they did 2 years ago, or fall flat in the 4th like they did 4 years ago, it is possible. It is going to take a strong game, start to finish to win. I agree with both of you. Will the Huskers score some points in the first half for once? The two minute drill has been successfull, but it seems like there's only 7 points on the board until that happens. I believe it actually did happen against Wake, Ball State and ISU. First half scoring: 21 against Nevada 13 against WF 10 against USC 14 against Ball State 14 against ISU
  17. That is some serious pain brotha. I passed one - it was the size of a grapefruit. Just kidding! Actually I thought I had a kidney stone a few years ago. But after going to my doctor, a kidney specialist, taking Intravenous pyelogram (IVP) where they put dye into the vein of your arm & it moves to the kidney & can be seen with Xrays. That part was pretty cool. I asked the technician what that thick lining was around my mid section and he said muscle. I was like "right on". Anyway it was never diagnosed as a stone. But the pain was so severe, I was hoped up on vicadin and prescribed steroids for a few weeks. I couldnt even move a quarter of an inch without that sharp knife pain in my lower back. I even slept on a chair sitting up for 8 straight days. That was pain I wouldnt wish upon my worse enemy. The pain killers made me loopy enough to sleep a few hours at a time but not rid the pain. Rough time. Anyway hope you feel better now.
  18. Damn BRI, sore throats suck. You stuck on liquid diet now? Hope you get better.
  19. Unfortunately the sour grapes alert is in affect down here in Texas. After UT got dismantled and OU lost, a lot of peeps I talk to quickly say "The Big 12 sucks this year". That as oppose to the usual "The North sucks". I'm giving credit to CU and Kstate. But not too much only b/c the conference play has just started. We'll know more clearly four games into it.
  20. skersfan, just so you know I wasnt preaching. I'm not really into debating either. I just simply disagreed. I'm not someone that throws chairs and turns blue in the face to holler out in each thread to get rid of Cally or Coz. However I dont think they fit & I wouldnt lose sleep if by morning they were gone. I prefer they stay throughout the season though. Finish what they started this year. No biggie.
  21. Amen brotha When we use to dominate the visitors, the players and coaches feeling dejected would still sit up to say how great the fans were. Even after getting buried by 40 points. I agree we have to get that home winning streak / edge back. It takes time.
