  1. Mavs' Luka Doncic dazzles with 73, tied for 4th in NBA history

    img_3547.png

    Sports Illustrated (SI.com) -

‘Disgraceful!’ Stephen A. Smith Foolishly Discredits Luka Doncic 73-Point Game

The day after Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic did something we haven’t seen in nearly two decades, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith stirred the pot by trying to discredit the performance … but that’s not how history works.

“What transpired last night in Atlanta was disgraceful,” Smith said. “Don't tell me anybody wants that. … The Hawks, you should be ashamed of your damn self.”

“Let's not go overboard with this. The fans want this? No, the league wanted it,” Smith said on an NBA on ESPN segment. “Did you see that? I mean, that was a layup line. That was the Atlanta Hawks. No wonder why y'all stink. Did you see how they played defense last night? I mean, this is not Joel Embiid who played bully ball because you know what, you have a thin Victor Wembanyama on you. We understand that, we expect that.”

  2. So night a good night in the gym...?  I kinda figured

If the Huskers BBall team only liked "playing against road games" like Taylor Martinez, maybe it would be different for once.

I can't remember when I felt confident about the hoops team playing on the road consistently.  Like, decades it seems.

My parents got 2000 4Runner. I ended up buying it from them later on. It was pushing 200k miles before our black ice rollover accident a few years ago

Omygosh those trucks were beautiful and hard core bad a$$.  I'm envious!

Back in high school, there was a super rich, thin redhead Senior girl that drove one.  She had the 2nd biggest missile titties in school.  Her, her younger sister, and yours truly ditched school one day to be extras in a cheesy movie that was being shot 20 miles away.  Only I got casted for whatever reason to say a line before the lead actors walked into a country store in the woods.  My GF at the time (black girl) was not happy about it (me riding with them)

    I loved that truck.

By the way, she had the 2nd biggest chest in HS, only because the biggest was her little sister who was a sophomore.  I forget about the s#!t, even though it was fun times.  My HS was 40% black, 40% white and 20% hispanic.

    Sorry for derail, carry on!

I agree that the ad issues are a problem. Trying to find that happy medium has been an ongoing challenge. The costs have gone up while the revenue has gone down. I have asked the ad ops to disable this latest Google Ads feature and not restore it for now. I appreciate your patience.

    Thank you.  Back to good.

  5. I don't like Peter Jackson movies.  He bores me.  The changes to suit his film.  And the original post said it best:

These major differences are as follows—1. differences in form; this includes changes made to the story by deleting or adding parts or spreading ideas over a long period of time, and 2. differences in substance, which included changing actual ideas and people in the story to suit the film. Some such changes include the changing of almost all the characters and changing events to reach the same outcome as the book.

The book was amazing.  I love books by J.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.

It's been decades, but I am curious to pick it up and read it again, but I am more so thinking about the lion the witch and the wardrobe.

Year 1: more violations or wins?

I don't understand how anyone in college football can gloss over transfer portal violations.  Ho-hum news.

Or that a school can do a "self impose" punishment for it.  Ho-humm.

Put the coach on suspension for 3 games.  Or make it 6.  Have some guts.  They might not do it again next time.

  7. Watching Michigan in the two playoff games, the cameras panned on Moore as often as seeing a Burger King commercial.  And the commentators talked about him a lot.

It's like, if you didn't get the message by then who the next UM coach will be after Harbaugh exits, you weren't paying attention.

Hope he does well.  Colin Cowherd had some pretty good thoughts about it.  He basically said that you can go outside of the box, and outside of the School's fam to hire someone, like DeBoer and Alabama, with no ties at all, or you can can keep it rolling with the school's/coaching fam, and hire Moore.

He then mentioned that by keeping things together, satisfying recruits, the current players, the staff, the boosters, the board and the fans, and everybody is okay with it and happy........ and that it's great for a year and a half.........until you start to see the cracks.  And eventually those cracks start to open up more and bigger over the following seasons.  So then what do you do?  And he provided several past examples, including Osborne to Solich.  Funny, I thought the same thing.

    So we shall see....

    This is on tomorrow's agenda.

That's awesome!  Just remember to have low to no expectations.

And be sure to have a good greasy bar platter food ready to go when you watch it.

You will start out like this.....

Is the original streaming somewhere? A year later, still haven't seen it.

Man that is a shame.  I feel bad that you missed out on it.  It's Legendary.

I'm not sure if you watch it these days for the very first time that it would feel like it when it came out.  Meaning, it was an era movie and it was super cheesy........ So cheesy you didn't mind watching 5, 6, 8 or 12 times again.

But if you do watch it, I hope you like it.  Keep in mind it was a late 80s vibe. And the film definitely shows it's time period.

I mean, if I never saw "Say Anything" or "Heathers" or "Weird Science" or "Risky Business" or "St. Elmos Fire"..........I'm not sure if I would like them today seeing them for the first time.  But back then?  Shoot....

So I have heard some "urban legend" type stories about those OTR truckers back in the day.  What kinds of things do they say they did?

Everything.  They been there and done that.  Seen this and that.  Did this and that.  They love to talk about it at the Truck stops.  Driving 18-20 hours straight every night or else you're not a real Trucker.

Well it's not the 70s or 80s anymore.  And we are not called Super Truckers or Truckers.  We are called drivers.

If you are at a truck stop for the night, and turn on your CB radio (mine is hot, meaning this guy rigged it for me so that I can here s#!t from like 100 miles away).....you will here some crazy stuff, funny, entertaining, and truck preachers.  After awhile it's all the same and boring.

The worse part is after a nice shower and meal at the truck stop, you climb into your cabin, get comfy on the bed ready to fall asleep and hear the tapping on your door.

That "knock knock knock" is coming from a lot lizzard....  don't open it because she will tell you she just wants to come in and talk for $20 so she can .....(whatever the hustle is)...... which will then lead to offering services for more money because she needs .......(another story for the hustle)......

Just don't open the door man.  And pray she stops knocking after a few tries and that she doesn't circle back when you are in REM sleep.

    Why did you stop?

I got burned out.  OTR (Over the road).  I wanted be home and have a normal life.  Home on weekends.  So I switched to driving local.

At the time, Walmarts was paying super good (6 figures).  But for years before that all Drivers knew that Walmarts was the gold standard.   It just was mysterious and crazy to get on with them.

Heard from 50+ drivers that they might hire a guy that has 2 years driving experience, plus an accident, and yet, they turn down the Driver who has 10 years of perfect record. Not nobody can figure it out.

I was about to apply with them at the time, but I found a really good local gig, doing 10 hours a day, local.  I have a lot of free time.  And it pays well.

I'm happy.  I'm home every night.  I'm cooking.  I'm living normal.  My GF is happy.  My fam is happy.  I'm not a super trucker from the 80s that drove 15-18 hours illegaly every day and snort coke.....Driving 62 mph max.  I hate those super truckers and their stories.  If you hate the bada$$ Firemen mentality, than you know what I mean.

OTR is like this - if the wheels aren't rolling, you're not getting paid.  But you can drive only so much lawfully.

Local - You paid your dues.  Now You get paid hourly Plus OT and you do 10-12hrs per day.  At FedEx you do that and get $1250-$1400 a week with the right route, with only 3-4 stops a day, and less than 100 miles total.  Mostly just waiting on warehouses to load and unload.  Drive. Park. Sit. Wait. Unload.  Load.  Roll out.  Repeat a couple times.  It's super easy.

  13. @Hilltop I love the energy you have but I disagree with you.  Maybe we need to  make some campfire chili and have some Busch Lights....  Get to the bottom of this.  With some garlic bread.  And tortilla chips with salsa.  And Guacamole.

We might never ever agree, but it'll be fun.

Someplace or Somewhere I think Jimmy H likes the sound of that too!

Don't care for him or michigan.   He got away with cheating, with a minor slap on the wrist.   Won a championship and is now running away because more punishment is due.   Screw that guy and their 1997 2nd place team.

Let me guess. You probably hate Texas too!

    Amirite ?!!?

What is the Chargers contract? I heard 18M a year. I mean, would you turn down another shot at Lombardi? When is a better time to launch back in?

Although he has to go to the cesspool that is LA. Would have been nicer if they were still in SD.

It's not about the contract.  You know very well about college football contracts and payouts.

I think that when you climb Mount Everest (NCAA), looking back at how long it took, but you made it, you feel a sense of elation..........So your next challenge (NFL) that is calling, is to climb Mount K2 or Nanga Parbat. A slightly different mountain and one you climbed before.....but Without the NCAA on your back and recruiting High Schoolers that show college potential.

  16. Just going to add that I watch a handful of spring games, random teams.

The 2 that stand out to me was 2021 Michigan State.  Overcast and so painfully boring.   Thought they sucked.  Like really really bad.  I couldn't see them winning 3 games.  It was an awful spring game.

But they ended up going 11-2 that year.  I'll never forget it.

And 2022 Washington.  Another overcast gloomy spring game.  It was also bad and incredibly boring.  I didn't see talent And they were coming off a 4-8 year.

They went 11-2.  I'll never forget it.

But I've also seen some really good Spring Games and got on the wagon and felt the vibes........Couldn't wait to bet them.... and those teams barely won 6 or 7 games.

    So you never really know.
