New Coaching Staff: "They must be experts & treat people right."
jschmidt replied to The Duke's topic in Husker Football
We have one. His name is Mike Riley I believe HE will be the QB coach. And history has shown he's darn good at it. I gotcha both.... but I prefer he wasn't. this program needs the head coach to be a CEO. -

Things I hope for from this staff... 1) a fresh start... there are coaches I like from the old staff, but just feel the whole thing needs to be wiped clean. 2) player development...we see raw talent all over the field... time to refine it. 3) Experienced QB coach. someone that has directly coached upper level college quarterbacks 4) selective recruiting... recruit kids to a system, look for that 4* in a 3* and 5* in a 4*... don't need to be Top 10 classes, but Top 25ish w/great coaching will get it done. -
NU never contacted Scott Frost per Oregon Head Coach

lol.... hope this is true... cause Perlman just tied himself to SE on this hire. right or wrong. -
great insight.... thanks! but from "tailspin" ??? yes, part of it is my last name Tail/Tayl and seemed more classy than using tailhook, if you remember that scandal. yeah I would say so. welcome to the board.

Which players benefit most from the Riley hire?
jschmidt replied to ColoradoHusk's topic in Husker Football
Stanton.... but! great talent rises above the challenges before them. (fortune cookie) BO did not put Stanton #3 on the depth chart for zero reason... below a walk on. Johnny needs to prove himself. here is hoping he does. -
What recruiting ranking do you want/need to see this year?
jschmidt replied to teachercd's topic in Husker Football
rankings??? was hoping to see a, just one, stud QB on Oregon St. commit list that could be turned. -
thanks for the ride! entertaining to say the least.

Which players benefit most from the Riley hire?

So TA continually missed open receivers on simple swing passes and other short routes because Beck's offense was horrible? Perfectly logical to me. All about timing and confidence. And Beck never took the blame. His offense did not use the TE, RB & FB and everyone knew it. beck never took the blame for throws an upper level high school quarterback makes???? -

not at this point. better to not contact him and make this hire... then contact him, interview and still make this hire. -

like it. sure I would be all for a few of the pipe dreams... Patterson, shaw, tressel/frost. Mullen is best realistic coach on the board. -

No committee, making decision all on his own, and not taking calls from interested coaches. This better be a slam dunk hire, SE. +1 but also wonder how many of these coaches are just trying to get raises and extensions get linked to a job... get a raise -

x1 thought the same thing. but also wonder how many times Alvarez throw his 2 cents in. which he seems to love to do. had to play a factor. two big ego's butting heads. -

what's harder in your first HC job... go to a mid-major winning a good number of games. or going to the doormate of the SEC west and build a program to compete with Alabama, LSU and Alburn best seasons, all of which are this year... Wells 9-4 AAC Fuente 9-3 MWC McElwain 10-2 MWC Mullen 10-2 SEC all have a measure of risk I would just give the nod to the guy that did it in a major conference, was an assistant on Championship teams w major bowl wins, and has been an OC/QB with elite level college quarterbacks. also a lot of the same reasons McElwain was my #2 choice. -

So since coaching hires tend to go the opposite of the previous coach that a team had... who best fits the opposite of Pelini's mold? Win the games that matter HC experience Offensive mind Calming influence Embraces the media/fans Can separate being loyal and what is best for the program. I am sure there are more... -

http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/94692/dan-mullen-should-have-coaching-options I bet "someone" knows if he is interested or not very soon. has to be SE's first call right? -
Must mean Troy Calhoun is the guy. Air Force guys stick together not the big splash that some would like to see, but would be a good solid hire.

would really like to see Mullen or McElwain. Frost should get a serious look I have seen a number of people make "CEO" comments... maybe out of left field, but what about Tony Dungy? -
If they want their scholarship revoked, they can go right ahead and do that. What us vs them mentality, right? one of my biggest faults with BO... us vs.. always seemed to lead to us vs husker nation.
-
I choose option c, to the first question. sometimes beat the team you shouldn't, and sometimes lose to team you shouldn't
-
I wonder... SEC West and your not at LSU, Alabama or Auburn.

live in Colorado... McElwain has everything we want. would be happy with Dan Mullen too... people he is winning at Miss St!
