  1. NCAA needs to implement an early signing period! It would benefit everyone involved and calm my nerves.
  2. You mean Zack, Pat and Blaine!...........nope I didnt forget anyone. How could you forget the guy who's currently competing for the starting job!
  3. Hey fellow husker fans, I'm going to be in New York the weekend of the Okie St. game, I was wondering if anybody knew of or could recommend a husker friendly bar in the manhattan area.
  4. A&M game is actually set on the schedule as a B******. I refuse to wear black. It's Nebraska, you wear red. Period. End of discussion. I'm with you, I only make it to a few games so when I go, I'm wearing red!
  5. afterwards he challenged Gabbert to be a DB while he was the reciever and of course Gabbert batted the ball away Gabbert's a stud! I'm sure he would excel at any position.
  6. Gabbert will definitely be the top recruit of the BC era, I pray we can hang on to him and get him signed. The NCAA really needs to allow an early signing period because this kid looks like the real deal. I'm convinced that he would already be a 5 star had he committed to a school like USC or Florida.
  7. I'm right there with you! I bought six, I guess I'm going to three games this year I also bought six for the K-state game and already had two for the SC game. I better start tuning up the RV (hope gas prices come down) GO BIG RED!
  8. Carpenter was on a local radio show here in L.A., he seemed like a pretty decent guy he said all the right things about the Keller situation (he did mention how grateful he was to all his teammates and his coach for having his back throughout the situation), but what I didn't know was that Carpenter's ex-girlfriend has a baby with Matt Leinert. SMALL WORLD!
  9. Thanks for the tip, I just bought the max of 6 tickets! I can't believe how easy that was, I encourage everyone to do it. Let's keep that disgusting purple section out of the stadium this year! Please let me know if you find other teams selling tickets like that.
  10. I don't want to burst your bubble but a little geography lesson will be needed. Pasadena, site of the Rose Bowl and losses to UCLA & Texas, is a suburb of LA. Its about 45 miles NE of USC. It would be like Nebraska playing in Omaha, just closer. Hardly far from home. That leaves two losses on the last play of each game, with one in overtime. Hardly the data to make a, "Hey, dudes, they're vulnerable away from home argument." Pete Carroll's resume: Nation's winningest active coach (65-12) 84.4% in six years at USC Ranked in the AP Top 10 for past 56 games 24 wins over AP Top 25 teams (average 4 per year) Produced 3 Heisman Trophy winners, 25 All-American first teamers, 32 NFL draft picks If you're looking for week points. You won't find any. But you can beat them. Line up and play great football and hope they have an off day and you win. These "secret formulas" for a win are crap. Dude, you're the one who needs a geography lesson. Pasadena is more like 15 miles from south central. Do you have an issue with my statement or my typo? God forbid should anyone have a typo. Yes, YOU ARE RIGHT, its 15 miles not 45. I have made that drive so many times before, the first one was to the 1975 Rose Bowl where UCLA defeated No. 1 ranked Ohio State, and many, many times since. You would think I would remember to double check such a crucial piece of data for my argument. That 30 extra miles completely invalidates EVERYTHING I said. That extra 30 miles certainly would make any person feel a long way from home and totally insecure. I have been driving in LA since 1972, oh God how could I have overstated this. Oh God! Yup, I stand corrected this definitely qualifies as an "away" game. Since you are making the point, the computation error would also invalidate my analogy of my comparison to NU playing in Omaha. Thats a whopping 60 miles from NU, making the Huskers go an extra 45 miles! They probably would feel like they were falling off the edge of the earth. (The earth is flat you know). Next time I give distances, I am going to check my GPS for validity and spell check is obviously no help. I bow to your superior geography knowledge and driving experience in LA. Beside, I only have a minor in geography, you must have a masters at least. I knew I should have gotten my masters in geography not history. Now I will tremble every time we have to travel more than 30 miles. You guys have discovered our weakness. Now, I am terrified of coming to Lincoln. I want to change my prediction, NU 31-USC 10. Somewhere there's a USC message board that misses you...or maybe not. We all know you're a closet Husker, not to mention having too much time on your hands, so go ahead and buy your dream retirement home in the great city of Lincoln and vaporize. And make sure your wife keeps you away from the computer. Thanks for getting my back LAhusker, we should meet up for lunch sometime, I understand that if we stay within 15 miles of our homes than it's like we stayed home for lunch!

After I posted this I re-read it, and I realized I came across a little harsh. I didn't mean to sound that way. Sorry. When I say away from home of course I mean away the from the coliseum! Suburb or not, it's not the coliseum. I guess I shouldn't expect a typical arrogant SC fan to know the difference. Before you knock my "their vulnerable at home" arguement maybe you need to think about it. If you haven't lost at home in x number of years, but your last 6 losses are AWAY FROM THE COLISEUM I think it's pretty safe to say that if your going to lose, it's going to be on the road. Before you offer anymore geography lessons, I should tell you that I have resided in a SUBURB of Los Angeles for the last 33 yrs and I'm quite familiar with the LA area. I respect your team and it's coaching staff very much and being from L.A. I'll root for SC as long as their not playing the Huskers, but I think the huskers can beat SC in Lincoln and I can't wait! I'll apologize in advance if this comes off a little harsh!
  12. My neighbor and I had the cops called on us rocking out to these songs before the '01 OU game. Pantera - Walk Suicidal Tendencies - Alone, You can't bring me down, War inside my head!
  13. I have a great idea! BC should just name all of his starters in January so all the players don't wear themselves out with meaningless competition.
  14. I'm staying optimistic because one glaring fact that I keep thinking about is that USC is vulnerable on the road. They are pretty much unbeatable at home, but beatable away from home! Their last 4 losses have been away from the coliseum -Oregon st,UCLA,Texas and Cal (last 6 losses if we want to go back to 2002). We all know that they have superior talent, speed and depth, but if were going to beat em it's going to be in our house. I can already here the chants of O-V-E-R-A-T-E-D!
  15. Wow, I guess there really isn't much to do in Nebraska!
  16. I don't know if its too far out of your way, but Danny K's in orange county is a great Husker bar. I go there for some of the pay per view games and it's standing room only. You can google search Danny K's for info.

    QB battle

With much respect to Joe Ganz, Keller was the starter the minute he agreed to transfer to NU. BC knew he would be filling a huge void getting Keller he has the size, arm, experience, leadership & stats that would make any head coach salivate, especially replacing a senior QB. Besides you all know how worried we would be if we were putting our hopes on Ganz, Davis & Witt (although I'm sure Witt will be a star eventually). Ganz will be a capable backup and I wish him the best!
  18. Welcome to the board and I agree with most of your points as well, but what we have to remember is that while some players have physical limitations others have mental limitations as well. Some players are extremely athletic, but if they can't learn our grasp their assignments they become a liability out there. We know Nate isn't as gifted athletically as other players, but he might have a better understanding of the offense and it's mental aspects which makes the coaching staff feel more comfortable. It's been obvious that our biggest problem areas are at WR and DB, and the coaching staff has obviously been addressing these issues through recruiting, but until we get the right players were stuck with the best possible at the time.
  19. Great post! I couldn't have said it better myself. It's so obvious that the landscape of college football has changed, and the current system has to change with it. The fact that the two teams that play for the NC are arbitrarily decided has gone from weird to down right embarrasing! Do you realize that Florida almost didn't get a chance to play for the championship! If Michigan gets their rematch than everyone would still be singing praises about the Big 10 no matter who won, instead we got to see both of those heralded programs get crushed. Enough is enough, lets get this thing settled on the field and the so called "mid major" teams have proven on the field that they can play with the big boys why shouldn't they be given the opportunity.
  20. That's not a bad idea! It seems like he would be an ideal fit in a west coast offense which usually features a TE. He reminds me of a player named Eric Bjornson who played TE/WR at UW and then in the NFL the cowboys used him solely as TE. He would definitely help stretch defenses. He seems a little tall and lanky, if he could add some weight I think he would be a homerun at TE.
  21. Thanks for the info huskersnc949597. I was baffled, I figured TO would win in a landslide! I wish Dr. Tom would have passed his ability to recruit over to Frank Solich.
  22. The more recent teams are always going to do better in these polls, the casual fan remembers them better!
  23. I would have thought that this poll was done by ESPN, considering that they have Michigan and Ohio st so high! If it was up to them they would have had a Mich-Ohio st rematch and nobody would have been able to see how much better Florida and USC are. The big 10 is so overated it makes me sick!
  24. I was just curious because I live in so cal and I'm not too familiar with politics in Nebraska, but why on earth did Tom Osborne not win the election for governor!?
