  1. Im trying to understand how this is funny? Yep, Carriker, Moore, Bradley, Austin, Ross, McKeon, Ruud, Herian, Swift, Nunn, all horrible picks I guess he could have had picks like Beck, L. Jackson, R Piccou, D Moore, J Adams, T Spain.....
  2. When someone makes a blantantly, uneducated moronic statement like that, they had better accept the response. If we can't use the :asshat , then the mods had better remove it from use
  3. OF COURSE they're not as good as last year. Hell, USC was over rated last year...big time. Statments like this are what give NU fans a bad name. If you want to say that the 05 USC team was overrated when compared to the greatest teams in the history of college football, I would agree with you completely. But to say that a team that came within seconds (a play or two) of winning a national championship is "overrated....big time" is, frankly, and idiotic statement. :asshat Give the team their respect.
  4. I loved Pavelka and Sadlemeyer, and wish they would come back. But Kugler would be an excellent second choice. IMO, Rose and Fiala are an embarrassment.
  5. I agree with most of what you said, but I find this paragraph to be interesting- This might start a firestorm, but here it goes. That is irresponsible. Maybe if he would have spent less time worrying about USC, NU would not have lost to S Miss, or had Texas Tech drop 70 on us, or have allowed Brad Smith put up 480+ yards, or have been humiliated by Kansas. Just one man's opinion.
  6. I agree that it was great to see Herian back on the field, but he did look a little slow. Obviously it's near a miracle that he can even play, let's just hope that he can regain the form that he had a few years back.
  7. Why is that? Gee, sorry that I have a different opinion than some of you
  8. He is a disaster. I used to think that even though he was annoying as a "small case" of the herpes, he was very well schooled on the tradtions and history of Husker football. This morning on KFAB, there was question as to who was the last Outland Award winner from NU, and the answer obviously was Aaron Taylor. Lil' Jim went on to say "He was an All American guard, who the coaches tried at center for a few games, but when that didn't work out, they moved him back to guard where he won the Outland," or something to that effect. Jim, you moron, Taylor played the entire 96 season at center, and was named a first team All American, and was one of the few players in the history of college football to be named first team AA at TWO different positions. Get rid of Rose AND Fiala.
  9. I never said that. If NU plays perfectly, and USC is not sharp, NU certainly can win. But it has been years since NU has played perfectly, and USC has SO much. I find the quote that if "Bowman hadn't went down, I would give NU a 60-70% chance of winning...." the most idiodic and illogical statement I have ever heard. I was suprised that NU played as well as it did against Tech, and it seems as if the momentum gained late last year has carried over well into this year. But USC is a different animal. All I have to say is it is well more likely that NU will GET blown out, then it is likely that they will blow out USC. If NU comes out with a good win, I will certainly believe in this team. IMO, it is highly unlikely that NU will win, but that's why you play the game.
  10. I mean, seriously people, USC has played for the last 3 National Championships, and has had top 5 recruiting classes the past 3-5 seasons. NU is 14-10 since the coaching change, and 31-20 starting in 2002, with one top 5 class. NU has played like crap on the road in the past couple of years. Do you really, really, really, in the bottom of you heart think that NU will walk into the Coliseum and overwhelm USC?? We will be lucky to keep it close. Now you know why guys like that a-hole Mizzou fan wrote that s#%$$y blog of his just killing the NU faithful. Geeezeeeee
  11. I spit my tacos all over the screen after reading this. Are you referring to a comparison between USC and UT, because USC has much more talent than NU. Even though I am feeling better about this game, I still dont think that NU will keep it within 3 TD's. So USC's offense hasn't gelled, and they still hung 50 on ARK, on the road. I'd hate to see them when they are clicking. Are you referring to how the 95 Huskers would have fared against, USC, because if you haven't paid attention, NU hasn't played well on the road in the past few years, and hasn't come close to stopping an offense like USC's. NU gave up 70 and 37 to Texas Tech in the past couple of years, and USC is light years ahead of Tech. Booty's first game outperformed Matt Leinert's first game, so you people had better not chalk up a win for NU just yet. You can talk about both secondaries being banged up, but USC has the option of plugging in some 4 or 5 stud that every team in America wanted, where NU has to rely on a converted WR who has only played the position for a couple of weeks. Wake up and smell the coffee people. NU had a good first game, the best in the new era, but NU is no where close to USC at this point. Wow.
  12. Probably. But I'm sure Keller will be praised much like Taylor is, if he gives similar performances, even though he pulled a stunt much like Beck did. Are people who bash former players NU fans, or sCUm fans in disguise?? Watch the game again. I did. He had one pick, and 3 other balls that hit Tech defenders right in the hands, and were dropped.
  13. Offense B- Good, but still lacked execution. Penalties, dropped passes, fumbles, 4 nears picks. Still a work in progress. Defense C- With the exception of AC playing DT for a few plays, I wasn't sure if there even was an interior line. The supposed great LB's were ordinary, and the DB's were downright scary. Special Teams C- Nice looking punter, weak legged place kicker, average return game, below average coverage units. Coaching C+ Took the offensive coaches 3 years to finally figure out a running game. Very generic gameplan. Defensive plan was poor, many wide open WR's, and the DL gave up about 5 yards per carry to the opposing RB's. PS did you see the Tech defenders doing this:
  14. Very mature. You resemble those spoke of here--- Linky-wink
  15. I was honestly shocked that NU got that many yards. It seemed to me like they only had about 400, I'm not sure if that was due to the environment in which I watched the game, or the overall boredom of watching an offense that was pretty much like everyone elses offense. NU will be tough pressed to get such results against UT and USC, but thankfully, the majority of the teams on NU's schedule are as weak as L Tech. The OL started out very slowly, and really didn't get going until the 2nd half. I attribute that more to conditioning than performance. Pass pro was much better, but we will see how that changes against tougher teams. They had way too many penalties that killed drives. I agree. Purify might be the real deal, but Hardy (and some of the others) had a case of the dropsies as they have had the last couple of years. Why did the coaches let Holt play? Wouldn't he be better off taking a redshirt and saving a season, as WR is one of the deepest on the team?? They played well against Tech, we'll see how good they are in a couple of weeks. Too bad that the coaches have Jackson as the 4th option, as he is the best all around back. Or he almost lit the place on fire. He is fortunate that he only had 1 of his 4 horrible balls intercepted, as the other 3 were dropped. Personally, I would rather have a qb (like Frazier) who didn't have the highest passing %, and threw fewer really bad passes. Also, he only threw about 3 of his passes with any touch on them. Has he lost the finesse that he seemed to have last year. Even his screen passes seemed to be thrown as hard as he possibly could. It's nice to see Herian back, but it's obvious that he has lost a step. That's a shame. Agreed. DL is a concern this year. Ola and Barry are average at best, and besides AC, JM, and Turner, the DL looked very average against an offense that is not very good or experienced. They gave up an average of about 5 yds. per play to the RB's, and got very little pressure on the QB. Disagree. The LB's were average at best, and did nothing to set them out as the playmakers that they are supposed to be, with the exception of Rudd's INT. Agree wholeheartedly. The DB's are in big, big, big trouble against good teams, like USC and UT. Grix is short, and did get burned, but he made up for it on that one play. Jones wasnt much better. Tech's WR's were wide open most of the day, and we were lucky that their QB was off. The safety play was average at best. As he did last year, he was accurate, but his kicks were very ugly, sometimes barely making it through the uprights. His leg strength is lacking tremendously, and lowering the kicking tee 1" doesn't help at all. .Seemed to have a good day today. Agreed. The special teams really took a step backwards today. Pretty poor play, it looked similar to the 2004 team. Agreed. It was a good first game effort. I'm not sure about that, only time will tell. Tech is not going to be confused with Ohio St or Miami. Agreed. It was a good first game, and usually the biggest improvements are made between week 1 and 2. But next week's game is against an even worse opponent. The only way we can tell is waiting until we play USC. As horrible as the North is this year, if NU does not win it, it will be a disasterous season. There are no good teams as there were just a few short years ago when KSU and CU were top 20 programs.
  16. I have been a Husker fan all of my life, but I certainly don't wear the Scarlet-colored glasses. This guy certainly is full of more hate towards any human being that is not an "enemy," and for that I feel sorry for him. I love the 'Skers, but in my time (especially the short time that I have spent on internet message boards), the part of this rant that I have quoted is cemented in the truth, unfortunately.
  17. Wilson had a couple of fumbles today, that has to mean something. The running game wasn't all that great today, until the second half, when NU's strength and conditioning came into play. In the first half, the running game was disturbingly similar to last years.
  18. From what I saw today, Taylor threw 4 picks, but he was lucky that 3 of them were dropped. Lay off the kid, he's in a better place for him.
  19. I totally agree. This is a big reason why I thought USC was highly overrated last year. Everytime I seemed to tune into a game of them playing some "weaker" team, they were having to scramble in order to come from behind. A highly overrated team that came within seconds of winning the national championship? Your joking, right? USC will win by 3 td's.
  20. couldnt agree more. Anything less would be uncivilized.
  21. They are both great linebackers, but this is the first I heard of Octavien being overweight. Like DJR said, I thought that's right where the coaches want him. Who lives on that street? Maybe the two of you ought to listen to Husker's Ill. Sean Callahan who has reported it at least twice on the radio in the past couple of days. Maybe he has no idea what he's talking about, though.
  22. I'm not sure about this article, but I did hear that Keller's dad did have contact with bill c. about sam coming to NU prior to sam being released from his scholly at ASU. That is possibly an NCAA violation, if true.
  23. Word on the street is that Octavian came into camp 15 pounds overweight, and that Ruud has outworked him. Ruud is a proven player, Octavian is not.
