  1. From Husker Journal: DECEMBER 28, 2008. PREP STAR CHRIS WILLIAMS, 6-0, 230, 4.5, ABILINE, TEXAS Nebraska commit enjoyed visit “It was a surprise, a total surprise. I just needed to get my trips going and it turned out to be the right place. I like the tradition at Nebraska, I’ve been to other places it was just the right place.” Williams said, “I went to the Missouri game so it was not like I saw them beat up on somebody.” Game Time “The environment, if you play football I don’t see how you can take your visit there (Nebraska) and not want to go there.” Williams said “Everybody has nice facilities but there are one of the top schools in the Big 12 in graduating. It’s a lot more important than how nice the weight room is.” Williams added Bo “Bo was a big factor. I had a chance to go to LSU but, you obviously see with him gone their defense isn’t the same, they (LSU) are playing the same defense, but without him scheming each week it’s pointless.” Williams said “I got to talk to Bo and Coach Osborne. He (Bo) wasn’t a coach that wanted me to commit, commit, commit he wanted me to make the right decision for me. That’s what I really respected about him. The guys got a good resume and a hell of a coach.” Williams said Osborne “No way to explain him (T.O.) a well respected guy. He talked to me about the tradition at Nebraska.”Williams said “I was their (Nebraska) number one guy,” Williams said. “I know the program is headed in the right direction. He (Bo) will definitely turn the program around.” Williams said “They did say I would have get a chance to play early but I don’t know how it’s going to work out.” Williams said, “Just go down and see what happens.”
  2. Bump again...to blow out 2008...has to be my favorite of the year!
  3. Reports are that we are the leader in his final 3 and the surprise is LSU is no longer there. Anyone know what happened with LSU? He must have realized Bo was no longer there! Could be good for us...the leaders are apparently us, Michigan, and Texas Tech.
  4. Latest from Husker Journal: DECEMBER 22, 2008. PREP STAR JOSH BROWN, CB, 5-11, 175, 4.45, LANCASTER, TEXAS “I’m in Florida right now visiting my Mom. I’m going to Utah (offer) when I get back in January.” Brown said “Utah plays in a good conference (Mountain West), a lot of good schools play in that conference. At Utah I have a chance to play early, that was a goal of mine. The Utah coaches were at my school not too long ago. They (Utah) have a pretty good coaching staff they plan on being there for a long time.” Brown added Big 12 Schools Courting Brown “The schools that I’m really looking at going to are Baylor and Kansas State, they been at my school asking about me a week ago. They haven’t offered yet but when I get there they will.” Brown said “Baylor and Kansas State didn’t see me when they were at the school last spring it was baseball season. Once I get the offers from them I will commit between the two.” Brown said Suspended and Confusion “Middle of the season I got mad when we were losing a game. At the end of the game, instead of shaking hands I took off for the locker room and I got suspended for two games. Coach Beck (Nebraska) didn’t think I was still on the team, he thought I was kicked off the team for real. My coach said all I had to do is call Coach Beck and tell him. I decided just to leave it alone.” Brown said Brown didn’t have much to say about Kansas State and Baylor until he gets more familiar with the coaches and takes some visits there.
  5. I saw this game on local cable TV. Mater Dei is a Southern CA power...last year we recruited Cameron Meredith from Mater Dei. Martinez is my sleeper recruit for this class. He is a good athlete who has a gamer quality about him.
  6. From Husker Journal. Gotta love this...the kid commits to us after seeing Missouri. I'll take that comparison all day...when I catch Missouri games (i.e. Fox regional Big 12 games) there is like no one even in Missouri's stadium...is it just me or is their stadium like always only half full...looks awful on TV with all the empty seats. Like I said, try comparing that to the sold out Sea Of Red crowds for NU! Welcome, Andrew! DECEMBER 14, 2008. PREP STAR ANDREW GREEN, CB, 6-1, 175, 4.5, SAN ANTONIO (JAMES MADISON), TEXAS Green Commits to Huskers on Missouri visit “Missouri dropped me off at the Hotel Sunday morning before my trip back home. Then I called Coach Brown (Nebraska) and told him the good news.” Green said, “Coach Brown told me congratulations of being a Cornhusker, happy to be on board. Coach Brown is to visit me tomorrow night with my family, probably down to the house or maybe the school and the house.” Green visited Nebraska for the San Jose State game “The fans were pretty crazy. They (Nebraska) sell out for every game, they bleed red. I would love to play in that crowd. A lot of fans knew who I was at the game. It was like family at Nebraska. I wasn’t leading towards Nebraska after the visit, I wanted to take some other visits so I could compare. Distance was not a factor.” Green said “Coach Pelini was down for a home visit two weeks ago, he’s a pretty good guy I like his style.” Green said “I like the academics at Nebraska and the facilities. I’m not sure if I will play early, go down there and compete and see what happens.” Green added “Nebraska coaches like me because I’m physical I’m pretty quick and fast for my size.” Green said “I liked Missouri but I didn’t have that feeling like Nebraska. There was nothing wrong with Missouri” Green added
  7. Latest from Husker Journal: DECEMBER 7, 2008. PREP STAR CHRIS OMIGIE, WR, 6-5, 185, 4.5, ARLINGTON (MARTIN), TEXAS Chris visited Nebraska for the Colorado game. “It was nice, went to the game on Friday it was a real nail biter, they (Nebraska) almost lost.” Omigie said. “The kicker hit a, nobody knows how, 57 yard field goal and end up winning. I don’t think anybody at first said the kicker would make it. Everybody was hoping and praying he did. I guess all the hoping and praying paid off.” “At Nebraska I met the whole coaching staff. I met the athletic director (Tom Osborne); he has a lot of history behind him. I met coach Pelini, coach Gilmore the receivers coach and Beck. Coach Pelini is straight forward. He’s right to the point he doesn’t beat around the bush.” Omigie said Playing time “Bo said if I come there (Nebraska) they would love to have me, work with me to make the best player I can be,” Omigie said, “The last day I was there with my meeting with him (Bo), he said he wasn’t going to lie to me. There is no such thing freshmen coming in and starting over a Senior or Junior, they have to work for it.” Nebraska facilities were impressive “It was nice especially the Academic Center. It was like 8.5 million dollar center. I really liked that. They have new indoor facilities and outdoor facility and a new practice field.” Omigie said “Nebraska has a good engineering college.” Omigie said. “Their engineering college is actually hard to get in. If push comes to shove they have other programs, construction management, it’s in the Corp of Engineers. That’s what most of the football players go into.” Did you have enough to eat on your visit? “Every time I was turning around they (Nebraska) were stuffing something down my nostrils. I wasn’t arguing about it, but it was real good food. The first day he had our choice between steaks, grilled chicken. The second day after the game we went to a restaurant called Old Chicago and had a stuffed pizza. On Saturday we ate at the player’s lounge. During the game Friday we ate four or five times, we ate snack at half time.” Omigie said Omigie also considering Kansas, Baylor and Purdue. “I like the whole program (Kansas).” Omigie said, “Coach Beaty is real nice, he’s straight forward. Kansas and Nebraska are pretty much the same, telling me the truth, not just telling me about what I want to hear. Like tell me I will play me freshman year, they tell me straight up, I’ve got to work if you want to play.” “I like almost everything about Baylor,” Omigie said. “It’s not too far from home. They have a good program. They seem to make up a lot grown they lost in a couple of years. They (Baylor) have a freshman quarterback, Robert Griffin he will be one of the best quarterbacks in a couple of years. They need a receiver. “I like everything about the football team (Purdue) and the engineering program. It’s what I’m trying to major in. Purdue is ranked number three in the country. Coach Thomas the running backs coach is recruiting me.” Omigie said
  8. Time to move on...we got some other great recruits out there so looking forward still to the class closing strong. If he didn't even give Bo an opportunity to do the visit, then that is too bad. I think NU is the most certain option this kid had. South Carolina is not a very good football team..they just ride the SEC coattails...and I am not sure how much longer Spurrier is going to hang around. Tenn? Who knows...sounds liked Kiffin pumped the sunshine. The jury is out on Tenn. I am not sure how quickly they will be back.

So Mizzou does not even show up tonight...nice 15 minutes of fame Mizzou...I think Mizzou is on the way back down. This was to be one of the best Mizzou team's ever and NU is likely going to a better bowl than Mizery! Daniel is a system QB and won't sniff the NFL. Coffman is gone. Maclin likely gone as his stock will never be higher. OU was able to pressure Daniel (and Harrell in the Texas Tech game) and thus made Mizzou's and Texas Tech's offenses look pedestrian. These gimmick offenses are only so good and get blown up when facing tough defenses with good athletes. I still think Florida is the best team in the country. OU, TX, and USC are the next tier. Alabama had a heck of a season. My early prediction is Florida 38, Oklahoma 31 for the title. Oklahoma will need to put together an insane defensive game plan to stop Florida and win. OU will score but Florida's defense will be able to slow them enough to win. Should be a good game.
  10. From ESPN Recruiting. Top junior Braxton Chitty pulls verbal to Auburn ESPNU 150 Watch List quarterback Braxton Chitty of Northview (Dothan, Ala.), has withdrawn his commitment to the Tigers for the Class of 2010. Tommy Tuberville resigned on Wednesday as head coach at Auburn. Chitty, also a prospect at wide receiver, has other offers from Alabama, Nebraska and Duke.
  11. From ESPN Recruiting. I say let all the visits go down and see what happens. I like that we are the last visit so hopefully the staff knows how to close! Gamecocks in the lead for Jarvis Giles Under Armour All-American running back Jarvis Giles told ESPN affiliate Web site TheBigSpur.com, "South Carolina is the leader." Giles talked about his in-home visit with the Gamecocks' coaching staff, "They were saying how much they need me, telling me that I'm a gamechanger. They were talking about how I can have an impact on the program." He also talked about upcoming meetings with the staffs from Tennessee and Nebraska, "Their plans are already taken up and flights are already scheduled. I'm going to let them come in. Tennessee is coming in tomorrow so I'll hear what they have to say. Nebraksa is the last one."
  12. From ESPN Recruiting...I liked some of Kinnie's comments below: JUCO WR Brandon Kinnie set for Huskers The Nebraska Cornhuskers have added a big wide receiver in Brandon Kinnie of Grandview, Mo. / Fort Scott CC, Kan. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Kinnie was also offered by Arkansas and Kansas. He has an affinity for Nebraska's offense, "There's not too much run, not too much pass, it's just evened out perfect. There's opportunities for players to make plays. That's what really sparked me because it's just how we run it here," the Grand Island Independent reports. Kinnie added, "When I went to Nebraska, they set the bar pretty high," Kinnie said. "I really don't think anybody could top that at all."
  13. Yeah, this guy looks like he could be a really good one. He would be a nice addition to this class.
  14. Good for him getting more legit offers but hasn't this kid noticed Bo Pelini is no longer at LSU and his staff is over here at NU! What has happened to LSU? Has a team that won the national championship dropped so much the year following...LSU is not even sniffing the Top 25 right now! LSU (and Georgia) have to be two of the most disappointing teams this year. Bennie, do what's good for you and come to NU where defense is a tradition and not just a few year fad!
  15. Scout is reporting we are in-home tonight with Rex. Hope it went well. I want to see this guy as a Husker!
  16. Well, this Scout article says we have cooled on this dude: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/817690.html
  17. This would be interesting. I just don't see BC as a good fit in college. If he over complicates his offense like he did here then this is not going to work. I don't think his complicated offense is going to play too well against the SEC defenses. I think he should just stay in the NFL where he belongs. This thing at Tenn really has the potential to blow up on them.
  18. Glad Jarvis liked his visit to NU...would love to see him here!
  19. Nice pick up...get some speed at WR. Welcome, Brandon!

    BCS

Another BCS Mess! So after all of this we are probably looking at OU vs. the Alabama/Florida winner for the title. My latest observations: OU is playing better than Texas right now but I have to say Texas got jobbed as they beat OU head to head. I was watching the OU/Okie State game last night with my dad and brother-in-law...the whole game we were agreeing that OU was not able to put Okie State away and thus their effort should not put them ahead of Texas...that game was actually close most of the game. Then OU gets some cheap scores at the end and wins by 20...I was the only one saying that look out now because the final score makes it look worse than actual game was...but my dad and brother-in-law kept saying no chance because Okie State played them close and OU gave up a ton of points also even though they won. Sure enough I was right as OU goes ahead of Texas and I see Stoops on TV saying we beat Okie State by 20...as if they dominated them...gimme a break! I am taking Florida over Alabama. Dare I say that maybe I should root for the hated Mizzery and Booger Daniel? I think I am going to have to root for them. I am thinking that neither OU or Texas can win it all this year...to beat good teams they have to outgun them and neither are going to put up huge points on either Florida or Alabama. Maybe if OU loses, we can have Florida vs. USC (I actually think this would be the best game anyway). USC would be a conference winner whereas Texas didn't even win their conference (sound familiar?). If Mizzery wins the Big 12 Championship would OU get completely knocked out of BCS? Would BCS really take all three...Mizzery, OU, and Texas? Hmmm...if that happens maybe OU and Texas should just have a special Cotton Bowl rematch...
