  1. Player: Morris Claiborne Hometown: Shreveport, LA Position: ATH/WR Height: 6'0" Weight: 180 lbs. 40 time: 4.45 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Texas A&M, LA Tech, Tulane, Arkansas State Favorites: Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: Athletic prospect has good speed and is a WR candidate. Second team all-state selection. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15%. He attended LSU's camp and is known to want a LSU offer. Good to see that we continue to recruit Louisiana hard.
  2. From Husker Journal. Confirms he is being recruited at OLB. The quote about Bo eating popcorn is my favorite. JULY 24, 2008. PREP STAR EMERSON EVANS, OLB, 6-1, 230, 4.5, HOUSTON (ALIEF TAYLOR), TX “I committed to Nebraska. It came down with my mom we had a conversation about where I wanted to go. We just got off the phone with Coach Ekeler. My mother talked to him. He (Ekeler) was telling her about the school.” said Evans “I checked out Nebraska on the Internet and liked what I found out. I haven’t been to Nebraska I will try to make it up there this September for a game.” He said “I called Coach Ekeler and told him that I wanted to commit and he was real excited about it. After that I talked to every single coach. Bo Pelini was the last coach I talked too.” said Evans “Bo told me that he handpicked me. Bo said he watched my film while eating pop corn and said I was a freak of nature. I like how Bo Pelini runs his defense. Nebraska is recruiting me as a outside linebacker.” he said “Coach Ekeler came by my school for our spring game and talked to him face to face. He likes to talk and a funny man. Coach Ekeler said they were going to recruit me real hard. Then July 4th I got a scholarship letter in the mail.” said Evans “I like Nebraska’s tradition and I want to be a part of it.”
  3. From Husker Journal. Nice article. JULY 25, 2008. PREP STAR NICK ASH, OL, 6-5, 260, 5.3, KELLER, TEXAS “I’m glad it’s over.” said Ash in reference to committing to Nebraska, “I called Barney Cotton and told him that I’m going to Nebraska he was excited and said I made a good choice.” “I like Nebraska’s tradition, the fan base. More than 80,000 went to their (Nebraska) spring game. Nebraska is linemen U.” said Ash “We (family) just visited Nebraska again last week. This time we spent the time looking at academics. During the spring game visit we didn’t see that part.” he said “I talked to Carl Pelini my primary recruiter and he was excited too. I met Carl at Nebraska’s spring game and became friends.” “I met Bo Pelini at the spring game he had a BBQ for the players and I got a chance to sit down and talk to him. Bo is really a nice guy.” he said “Nebraska coaches told me that they are going hit it running.” said Ash in regards of winning now. “They have good enough players to win now.” “Nebraska coaches said they like my mobility and the knowledge of the game.” he said, “Barney told me they (Nebraska) want to go back to the old fashion days and have their linemen pull more.” “I called the schools that offered me and told them my decision. They weren’t mad. They just told me super job, good job things like that.” said Ash “My dad and I were just talking about when I was young he told me I will probably play football at Nebraska. It’s kind of funny now years later it happen that way.” he said
  4. From Husker Journal: JULY 28, 2008. PREP STAR TERRELL WILLIAMS, ATH, 6-2, 210, 4.6, TULSA (UNION), OKLAHOMA “Stanford was first to offer me they are high on my list. Stanford academics are like the Ivy league” said Williams.” “I have an opportunity to go in and play early at Stanford. I talk to Coach Clayton White he said I could play both ways. I play a lot of positions in high school wide receiver, safety and linebacker.” he said “I’ve been to Arkansas’s summer camp. I met the coaches and players. Coach Petrino loves me he keeps calling me number six. Coach Petrino said if I keep working hard I will be in the NFL. They (Arkansas) are always asking me to commit but I tell them that I want to wait and take all my visits.” Williams said “Arkansas has great facilities. Arkansas said I could play strong safety or wide receiver. I don’t know what position I want to play in college right now, it’s hard to say.” he said “Arkansas is close to home it’s only a 1 ½ to 2 hour drive. Fayetteville is a little college town not big or small.” said Williams “I have a chance to go to Nebraska and get the job done. Nebraska has great tradition, great program. They just need a little help. I would love to go there and make an impact. I have a chance to play early at Nebraska. That’s what my plan is play early at a school, look at the depth charts.” he said “I call Barney Cotton about every two weeks he said I need to get a little bigger I’m already 6-4, 215." Williams said "I’m following Nebraska this year to see what they do with their new coach. I’ll probably visit Nebraska this fall for an official visit. We haven’t gotten to that point yet. We just moved to a new house and schools start in two weeks.” he said “I definitely want to get out of Oklahoma, do some new things. I don’t have any favorite conference to play in, but I do like the SEC they get you ready for the NFL. I want to take all five visits, two or three during the season one or two after the season.” said Williams “I intimidate defenders with my size and speed. I can go on top of corners.”
  5. Latest from Husker Journal: JULY 30, 2008. PREP STAR BRADY BROWN, WR, 6-5, 205, 4.6, ARGYLE, TEXAS Brady has narrowed it down to Nebraska, Kansas and Vanderbilt “I don’t have any favorites I will probably commit a month from now just before season.” said Brown “I came back from Kansas three weeks ago with my dad and he loved it too.” he said, “Coach Jackson is recruiting me and said I could play early. That’s one of the factors is to play early. Kansas coaches say I run good routes and I’m a procession receiver.” “Kansas is a great program they have great facilities and it’s only a five hour drive.” said Brown “Nebraska’s facilities are top of the line better than Kansas it’s a great place. Nebraska’s weight room, coach’s offices and player lounge is top of the line. I liked how everything is close together even the class rooms. My dad loved it too.” he said “We met Coach Pelini and Coach Beck.” he said, “Coach Beck showed us around all day long.” “Nebraska is recruiting me as a X receiver. They want to use me on the deep balls. Nebraska said they are losing five or six players as an outside receiver and I have a good chance to play early.” said Brown We went to Vanderbilt and talked to the players and coaches.” he said, “They are in the process of rebuilding their facilities. They should have them done next year. Vanderbilt is a great academic school. My family believes in academics.” “I like Vanderbilt a lot, I like the SEC.” said Brown “My mother is originally from South Carolina and she would like to move back their (Greenville) after I graduate from high school.” he said “Oklahoma said they are interested in me. Its sounds like they might offer me, hopefully. I would visit them (Oklahoma) if they offer. Oklahoma is a big-time power house.” said Brown “I’m looking for a school that has chemistry, fan base, Nebraska has the fan base.”
  6. Is Texas Tech going to be #8 or top 10 by end of the year? They are the most intriguing pick to me...they could be awesome this year or just end up at back of top 25. I have no idea how we are going to do against them this year but that game looks scary this year. Clemson and BYU both seem a bit high on this poll to me. Pitt does not belong there. USC is going to beat Ohio State so I'd like to see OSU drop because I am tired of all the pub they got last couple of years only to get blown out in championship. If NU can't be there, I think a Georgia vs. USC championship would be a great game. Going by this poll, our schedule is very tough this year. We play: #3 Oklahoma #8 Texas Tech #9 Missouri #17 Kansas #20 Virginia Tech
  7. I'm not concerned...winning is the main thing and the more weapons we have the better. If we can wear down defenses and keep our RB's fresh, then both Lucky and Helu should benefit by ripping off more yards per carry as each of them (+Castille) wears down the opposing defenses. You can bank on it that we will get a "W" or two based on this philosophy alone. Staff knows we are going to be in some tight games and need depth to win.
  8. Mods, this recruit should be moved into the 2009 forum...we have offered. Other programs offering are Iowa State, Baylor, TCU, Houston, Colorado State, SMU, and Utah. He is also a track star and would run track at NU. ESPN Evaluation: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009
  9. Player: Andrew Green Hometown: San Antonio, TX Position: CB Height: 6'0" Weight: 181 lbs. 40 time: 4.5 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa State, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Purdue, Houston Favorites: Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: ESPN evaluation: Green is a well-rounded corner prospect with a good blend of physical and mental skills at the position. Has coveted height, is layered with good muscle tone and his rangy frame should continue to fill out well. A bit of a waist bender but overall shows above average fluidity and flexibility for a taller corner. Transitions quickly and smoothly out of his pedal breaking on plays underneath him. Shows strong plant and drive skill and burst on the ball. Anticipates throws and reads underneath routes very well allowing him to quickly undercut the ball. If he can't separate the ball from the receiver he looks for a firm often punishing tackle. Flashes good strength and physicality pressing and rerouting receivers off the line with his long arms. More here: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009 Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15%. Looks like this CB will end up in the Big 12. Kansas is recruiting him very hard.
  10. Player: Ricky Johnson Hometown: Lafayette, LA Position: WR Height: 5'11" Weight: 185 lbs. 40 time: 4.45 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tulsa, Southern Miss, Tulane Favorites: LSU (no offer yet) Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: Talented athlete also plays basketball. Says Georgia Tech is recruiting him as an option QB. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 5%. He likes LSU but they may not have room in the end and have yet to offer. We need to focus on him more if we are serious about him. Talks about teams he is interested in here: http://recruiting.scout.com/2/768485.html
  11. Player: Desmond Gardiner Hometown: Port Arthur, TX Position: CB Height: 5'11" Weight: 175 lbs. 40 time: 4.5 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Baylor, Texas A&M, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, TCU, Houston Favorites: Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: CB prospect was a first team all-district selection. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15%.
  12. Our top CB target in 2007 David Ross jumped to Oregon State at last hour. Our top CB target for 2008 David Whitmore may not qualify. Gabe Lynn could be a 4 year starter as we need CB's. He should give us a serious look.
  13. I tend to agree with your assessment, Danimal. We need to get on top of these guys early or we will be in for a tough game. Crowd is going to be amped up and so are both teams. That first quarter is going to fly by and I don't want us to be in situation where we are down 7 or 10 and then the second quarter is nearly over. They are going to run some stuff at our defense, no doubt. Our offense needs to be putting points on these guys early and take over this game.
  14. That three week stretch in there of Virginia Tech, Missouri, and @Texas Tech is going to be tough. Our team from last year loses each of these games by 3 TD's or more. I am hoping we can beat one of these teams and compete in all of these games at least. We need to be 3-0 going into this stretch.
  15. Reiff is in trouble with the law. Probably best he did not come to NU afterall. Link here: http://www.press-citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll...KS0104/80719002
  16. Fix'd for ya Nice...me likey. Now we just gotta get Anthony Blue in this mix somehow.
  17. I am expecting Brown to be N. Just thought I could learn to like these colors...Green to Brown! Touchdown Nebraska!
  18. Scout has teaser that he may soon commit. If so, I would expect both him and his HS teammate Cordarius Golston to both be N! We shall see.
  19. Player: Chris Williams Hometown: Abilene, TX Position: LB Height: 6'0" Weight: 230 lbs. 40 time: 4.52 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Baylor, Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee, Arizona, Oregon, TCU, New Mexico Favorites: LSU Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: From ESPN Evaluation: Williams is an active pursuer to the football and a big-time hitter when he locates it. Lacks some ranginess but possesses a good frame for a linebacker prospect with his bulk and strong, stouter body. Great vertical attacker and we project that attribute will slide him out to the strong side backer position in college. Does not always diagnose the play correctly or quickly but once he zeros in on the ball carrier he flashes explosive closing speed and a burst to and through the ball carrier. This kid is a hitter who possesses that natural pop and spring from his hips on contact that you can't coach; he is a punishing tackler with great form and consistently knocks ball carriers backwards. More: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009 Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 20%. He is known to favor LSU but says we are in his final 4. Bo should just tell him the LSU defense is now over here at Nebraska!
  20. Player: Randall Dent Hometown: Grand Prairie, TX Position: DL Height: 6'4" Weight: 256 lbs. 40 time: 4.9 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Oregon, Minnesota Favorites: Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: From ESPN Evaluation: Dent is a big kid. He will play some defensive end and defensive tackle at the high school level, but will need to slide down inside and be an interior lineman at the college level. He has an adequate get-off. He will flash some solid quickness and when he can get on the shoulder of a blocker he can push his way into the backfield and be disruptive. He will bring his hands and work to keep separation. More here: http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009 Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 20%. We are recruiting him hard but he is known to be looking for LSU and Texas to offer but to this point neither has.
  21. See article below...props to Coach Watson and to us...the best fan base in the country! From Husker Journal: JULY 10, 2008. PREP STAR CODY GREEN, QB, 6-4, 220, 4.7, DAYTON, TEXAS “I called Coach Watson about me committing to Nebraska, he said I made his year. Then I called Bo Pelini and he said I’m fired up and said he can’t wait until I get here.” said Green “Both Nebraska and Texas A&M run the same offence (WCO), it’s just that a 17 year old could relate to Coach Watson and what they do. Watson was one of the main reasons why I going there.” he said “When I went to Nebraska’s quarterback camp I met Coach Watson. He was good to work with, I could understand the terms he used. I met Joe Ganz when I was up there. You look at Joe and what he does on the field it tells you a lot what Coach Watson can do. ” said Green “Nebraska and Texas A&M are about even but it came to fan base, Nebraska is the best, and the whole state is behind them.” he said “I met Barney Cotton” said Green in reference to Nebraska Offensive Line coach, “He is huge, he can play football now, he can block for me.” “I like Coach Ekeler too. He’s a lot like my coach all wired up. He is fun to be around.” He said “At first distance was a factor. I was a little skeptical about making the trip to Nebraska. But once I got there I loved it. My mother came with me too she loved it too.” “I called the A&M coaches they were not mad but wanted to know why Nebraska. I told them. A&M said they were still going to recruit me, but it’s done. I’m 100 percent committed to Nebraska. I’m a midterm graduate will sign with Nebraska and will be there in January.” said Green “I’m sure a lot of people in Texas are upset that I’m not going to Texas A&M. People assume if you live in Texas you should stay in state. But I know there is more people happy now.” he said
  22. :spooners Guess who I voted for? A win against OU would be huge for us.
  23. Player: Brett Thompson Hometown: El Dorado Hills, CA Position: WR Height: 6'3" Weight: 205 lbs. 40 time: 4.58 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, BYU, UNLV, Air Force Favorites: BYU Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: ESPN evaluation: "Thompson is a wide receiver with good size and a strong build, but he is strictly a possession guy with great hands and is at his best in the underneath passing game working against zone defense. Is at his best on the inside where he can work the short and intermediate range routes, settle into soft spots in zone defense and get himself open." More http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...26season%3d2009 Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 5%. He likes BYU and is checking out some Pac 10 schools. We are most prestigious program to offer...a visit would have to blow him away or otherwise he is likely a longshot. Recent link here: http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?cid=820062
  24. Player: Emerson Evans Hometown: Houston, TX Position: DE Height: 6'1" Weight: 255 lbs. 40 time: 4.8 Visit Date: Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Ole Miss, Utah, UTEP Favorites: Nebraska Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Big Red Report: Assessing the talent: Second team all district selection. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 35%. We are his favorite.
