  1. I have to think that OSU went to the prevent in the 4th. I want to shoot any DC who does that.
  2. baylor has some serious issues on run defense.
  3. looks like the defense on both teams got exposed today.
  4. there are so many differences between now and then it makes alot of stats like that pointless to compare. Teams never used to thow that much, the spread offenses of today didnt exist for mcbride's tenure. The scholorship caps and the current parity changed things also. To say nothing of the rule changes to allow more scoring. I'm not giving a ringing endorsement of Cosgrove, but I dont think he should be fired either. Time will tell, but the defense has had some great games, and saved the team more times than it killed them sence Cos took over. How things look when we are not riddled with injuries, and have more elite talent in there will be a better yardstick.
  5. Being an offensive power is something we havnt really been sence the 90s. Being #1 in the big 12 is awsome. I have ever read comments calling it 'prolific'. It is almost scary to think that there is still alot of improvement that can be made to make it even more powerfull. Looks to be a bright future.
  6. I havnt had a chance to watch much ISU games this year, part of the texas and iowa games is all, but for all the talent and success the offense had last year, it is not there this year. Odds and ends about ISU offense Only scored more than 20 points in 2 games. 45 vs toledo, and 28 vs NIU. other games were 14, 16 and 17. Not much explosion there. 7TDs 4 INTs, not a great ratio, shows mistakes by meyer. 5 of the 7 TDs came from Blythe. Meyer has been sacked 14 times. They are 81st in rushing, ave 113 YPG TO me the numbers show an offense that leans to being one dimensional, and if you can get pressure on Meyer he will make a mistake.
  7. I might be wrong, but I'm thinking sence it is on ABC, it is part of the gameplan for espn(maybe even the online gameplane)
  8. To some degree the 2 loss streak has less to do with ISU and more with NU. 2002 and 2004 were the worst teams NU has had in the last 40 years. Both were non winning seasons. 7-7 in 2002 and 5-6 in 2004. So while we have dropped the last two at ISU, the streak is definatly over rated. And only the 2002 game, which included 5 NU turnovers, was decided by more than one score.
  9. Only Cox Cable isnt broadcasting the HD version. There are havinbg a pissing match with the station's owner over money. satalite, qwest will have it, you can also get it for free if you have a TV set up with an HD antena
  10. If ISU had BCS talent then maybe, just maybe, when they had a chance to go to the title game the last two years they would have. And it really seams that the iowa sports guys are always overblowing thier teams. I mean, really, when was the last time ISU or iowa won anything?
  11. given the success NIU had with the dink and dunk method, I wouldnt be suprised to see alot of the short passing patterns to set everything else up
  12. ISU has been one of those teams that should be playing better than they are on offense. Thier largest margin of victory for ISU is 4 points. And only scored more than 20 points in 2 games, northern iowa, and toledo.
  13. I really think there are a number of husker fans who wont be happy untill every game is 77-0. Bad games happen. Osborne and Devaney had bad games where the team came out flat, but people dont seem to remember those. For some reason a number of fans only want to remember the '94, '95 and '97 teams. Not the '96 team that got shut out at ASU. People called for osborne's head in the past too. Commonly saying he got outcoached, and couldnt manage the big games. I'm mixed on Cos. He did have some really good defenses up in wisconsin, the years where they won the big 10 come to mind, and some very average years. How much of that is talent effected is a good question. Also keep in mind people didnt really think McBride was a great D play caller till they got the elite talent and speed in there. And there should be no blackshirts in practice this week. They played too poorly for them this week. Re-earn them next weekend.
  14. Very true. But they dont have Snyder anymore. And I just dont think Prince is quite the same level of coach.
  15. I am more worried about ISU than KSU. ISU this year is a tougher team on paper than on the feild. With who they have on offense they should be better, but they have not been a dominant offense in any game this year. Thier largest margin of victory is 4 points this season. There is something about the SU team that is just off this season, and I have this odd fealing they may wind up imploding this year like they did in '03. As for out losing streak at thier house, the last two games there, '02 and '04 were also the worst two years in the last 40+ for NU, so that might be reading too much into things. KSU fun fact. There were 2 head coaches prior at KSU who won the first 3 games in thier first season, neither won another game. And while the KSU defense may beable to slow down our attack, the KSU offense has been dreadfull. I jsut dont think they can keep up with any amount of scoring.
  16. It is a multi part issue, really. Part of it is that teams gameplan for the pass rush and are running alot of max protect vs us, and we have some large weakspots in the secondary. Hopefully the freshmen can get gameready as the season goes on and can move into more playing time. I'm also hoping Suh and Stienkuler ccan step it up and get more playing time too, they look to have alot more potential than Ola and cryer As to KU outplaying us, I think it gets down to this. Every team in the north brings the best game of the season out for NU. We are still the team to beat in the North, much like texas and OU are in the south. If we have an off game(like we did sat) we get accused of being outcoached/outplayed/out-talented. Offgames happen, the people falling into the doom and gloom mentality after after a sloppy win need to chill out. Every team plays a bad game or two, the difference is the good teams find a way to win when they have played a bad game.
  17. Shanle didnt do too bad. 2 picks. But that whole secondary needs a big upgrade. I hope the 4 freshmen that are the backups have alot better ability.
  18. While watching that MU/CU game, I thought the tiger's D was exposed. Despite the score CU put up over 300 yards.
  19. It would really suprise you how much alot of pollsters look at a close win, as good. Shows character of a team, and finding a way to win. We probly stay the same.
  20. KU has been very, very good vs the run for the last couple years. It's a good thing we have some versitility
  21. Totally agree. One other good thing, they showed that ability good teams have to find a way to win no matter what is happening. We made big plays when the game was on the line.
  22. 24 yard pass to swift. Glenn scores next play 1 yard rush KU gets a first down. and on 4th and 5 from the 14(i think) the pass is an overthrown floater.
  23. Any conference win is a great thing. The defense concerns me though. That was WAY too many passing yards given up. And the front four didnt do a good job getting pressure.
  24. wait wait, fox sports west is showing a soccer game, and fox sports midwest is showing a pac 10 game? What is wrong with this picture?
  25. I dont have any idea why the defense had that kind of breakdown. But I suppose in the end, a win is a win.
