  1. Chanting eh? Not a classy thing to do, even if it might be "deserved" Personally, I have no desire to behave like some CU fans.......
  2. I don't like booing anything but a bad ref call or a cheap shot. Other than that, I choose not to boo because I know I couldn't do any better. That goes certainly for playing but for coaching too!
  3. I feel sorry for Ball State already, but that presupposes the Husker defense learns a few things between now and then.
  4. That spread motion running offense USC ran was a powerful thing. It is specifically designed to spred out a defense and confuse linebackers. Hence, your likely first solid defensive contact is in the secondary. It surely did so last night. As the game wears on, the linebackers know less and less what to do. Cover the motion man? Cover the I back? Cover the passing lanes? The team was so spread out IMHO it is way more potent when the DL is stymied and can't penetrate. Outstanding OL for USC. So, Coz or no Coz, how does a defense deploy to stop it? One thing I saw, and this actually first appeared in the Wake game, was the outside LB, or DE, would penetrate on a slant, to the middle right from the line and more often than not, get caught out of position to stop a cut back or reverse or counter. Why wouldn't you have the outside man on the line penetrate deeper before closing on the ball?
  5. No doubt that lost kickoff strip was a huge mental blow to the Huksers, expeically with that huge return. Maybe things would have been different if NU would have recovered, or if it hadn't been advanced. But, doesn't that just means they let the bad breaks beat them mentally and great teams don't do that. I hope that young man is doing well now.
  6. It is admirable that you apologize. Takes a large person to do that. And I hope that none of us ever forget that these are very young men out there, many still teenagers. If it was my son out there on the ground, I'd hope the professionals taking care of him would consider his needs more important than a game. And, for what it's worth, taking more time than you need also gives the opponent more time as well.
  7. My vote is NEXT That order restored is getting old and it won't be restored until UNL is #1 and the last team standing.
  8. Yeah, it was scary. I ahve a niece that had a baby the day before. WOW! A few had storm wind damage and one with flood damage but all survived and have repaired all damage now.
  9. The second easiest job in the world is being a know-it-all sports caster. Second only to being a weather man because there, all you have to say is God did it, and who can argue. Other than that, what accountability is there and how hard is it to always pick the favorite. The only saving grace is that their opinion will not matter when the boys take the field. If the Huskers git-r-done on the field, there will be a lot of crow to be eaten by those blow hards.
  10. It's called Throwin the Bones. Comes from the Blackshirt Defense which usually is displayed with a Skull and Cross Bones. Generally it is taught to all males in Nebraska before they can walk. And, there ain't nothin' sexier than a Husker babe throwin the bones! I am a native of NOLA but now living in Buff Country, but I bleed Red. Always have, always will. I have several hundred relatives in and around NOLA and I'd love nothing more than a Husker Tiger NCG. It is well within the realm of possibility that the Trojans could get laid out. Just like it was within the realm for NU to have beaten Texas last year. I try always to remember that they are kids playing a game but oh man wouldn't that be somthin to see! Meanwhile, I will ignore your real motivation being your desire to have LSU lay rightful claim to #1 and thank you for your kind thoughts. Go Big Red!!!!
  11. i thought that was herbie, in the capital one mascot competition. which, incidentally, herbie was not invited back into the competition in 06. Actually he was invited back but the UNL Athletic department didn't let him rejoin, they said something about wanting to give other schools a chance. That can't be right. Assignments for the Herbie would be a personnel matter and the U wouldn't say anything!
  12. When I've seen a great shut down corner, the opposing team always goes to the opposite side. Seems the "other" CB would have to be up to it, and, Jones/Murillo should be sight lot better that Cortney. Don't remind us. But, we can sure hope that this year we'll see more tackling fundamentals on display.
  13. Lando; Man, you are way far off the mark. When have I ever suggested that the Huskers will have a bad year next season, or, as you say, thought the worst? My heart is always full of optimism that the next snap will go the Huskers way. Always.
  14. Ahh, I see. Totaly credible now! Move on. Old crap only stinks when you continue to stir it. I truly dont care what you think, i know what i know. I would never tell you the name of any source, especially this one. I work with him, i drink beer with him, my family goes places with him. Believe what you want i dont care. I think, Frank Sucked, he was in over his head, he was awful, and if he hadnt left we would be bottom dwellers in the Big 12 North and would have fallen so low that we would never have been able to get out. You are the type to complain no matter what. It's probably just a matter of time till you start moaning over the loss of Collier and complaing about Sadler due to the fact that our BB team wasnt very good this year. I deal with people like you all the time. Nothing is ever your fault, someone is always screwing you or doing you wrong. when others are doing good you complain simply to bring them down. IMO YOU ARE A CANCER WOW! What in the world are you ranting about? I just asked for your sources. I wasn't defending FS. He's gone. You should move on too and quit wasting time stirring up old crap. Sheesh, Chill Dude! By the way, I don't follow Basketball.
  15. Landon, It's more profound than being not our business. There is nothing we can do about it even if we knew ALL the TRUE facts. So, folks resort to making lots of assumpitons about what really went on and then project upon those baseless assumptions to explain the team's performance. But, all of this is done with the "benefit" of 20/20 hindsight. Since I've not seen anyone on this board be very good at predicting the future, I tend to ignore those who say they would have done things different and then suggest that it would result in great progress for the program. That's all hogwash but it does provide interesting entertainment whilst we wait for the next kick off whistle. For me, I am content to hope each year, as I have for going on forty years now, as a new batch of red clad KIDS take the field and try their best while directed by a group of older red clad coaches who are also trying the best.

  17. From Fox Sports' Peter Schrager 3/1/07 "21. Broncos Adam Carriker DE Nebraska Senior 21st SAME 21st / NR Carriker was terrific in Mobile a few weeks back at the Senior Bowl. Though his senior season at Nebraska featured few awe-inspiring highlights, his overall career in Lincoln was steady, if not superb. Denver's defense glowed in the first eight weeks of the season, only to crumble down the stretch. Carriker will be a nice addition to the unit. At the Combine, he held his own -- keeping himself in the 10-25 range for April's draft. " Being a Broncos fan, I'd like that and it would be a good fit for him too I think. What do ya'll think?
  18. Maybe if they all stay healthy but this is definitely going to hurt depth wise.
  19. Yeah, you are right. Sorry, I wasn't thinking. As you throw, you pull the leading arm back. Is it obvious that I spent way too many year teaching kids how to throw? I do hope he can make it somewher ein the pro game.
  20. True, but what cracks me up about him is it's the SAME in every single shot!!! it's freakin' classic. the pic on the left was just recently taken; the right one is like two or three years old. same face, same poise. heck, look at his left had fer pete's sake... you can't make comedy like this, folks. it's a goldmine. Hmmmm..... When I was taught to throw footballs and baseballs quite a few decades ago, especially as hard as ZT seems to be intending to throw those passes, aren't you supposed to point your off hand where you are going to throw it? I realize that was a long time ago and things have changed a lot but the physics of the human overhand throwing motion seem to indicate a counter balance with the off arm. Hmmmmm......
  21. Isn't he the highest paid college football coach making lots more money that he did as a pro coach. I don't suppose that had anything to do with him "not liking" the NFL.
