  1. For what it's worth, Bo's name hasn't been mentioned much within the Aggie community. The names most commonly coming up are Tuberville, Tedford, Spurrier, and Sumlin. And as of today, Rich Rodriguez has been thrown in the mix. If you guys are interested in Bo, I don't think you'll have to fight A&M for him.
  2. don't forget that texas struggled with baylor last weekend. the final score in that game doesn't indicate how hard of a time texas actually had with them. they also struggled with arkansas state and central florida. texas is not that good. don't give up hope just yet.
  3. i don't know. texas hasn't been playing all that well this season. they have a questionable o-line. and when you put any kind of pressure on mccoy, he tends to screw up.
  4. that's exactly what happens to the Aggies any time they play Texas Tech in Lubbock. To us, Tech is the armpit of the Big 12. Then again, we have to face them in Lubbock every other year, whereas we only visit CU in Boulder every 4th year.
  5. it sounds like CU is to you guys, what Tx Tech is to the Aggies.
  6. i want fran gone. even if he wins out the rest of the season, i want him gone. now after the win against you guys last weekend, there are some crazy kool-aid drinkers that suddenly think they could find it in their hearts to forgive fran. for me, a good half-season doesn't make up for a horrible 4 1/2 seasons. i'm sure a lot of husker fans feel the same way.
  7. because Fran is an idiot. he never seems to know when it's appropriate to go for a 2 pt conversion. this has been a sore point for a lot of aggies about fran. for what it's worth, the majority of aggies think it was completely unnecessary for fran to go for the 2 on saturday, and it was very classless. i've heard he went for 2 because he just wanted the practice. the guys don't get to practice it much. either way, i still think it looked bad. up 22 points with 5 minutes left in the game? kick the PAT and be done with it.
  8. sorry you had that experience. some of those in that section don't really come across as the friendliest people. they're usually the big money aggies that "donate" a buttload of money to get tickets in that section. i've sat over there before, and even i've felt out of place and like an outsider there (i graduated in '02). those in that section are content to just sit there, watch the game, and clap politely when the ags do something good. they're pretty much focused 100% on the game. at the tailgates, they're usually a million times friendlier. i was at the NU/A&M game in college station last season. after we lost, we decided to hit up the bars at Northgate. we camped out with a bunch of huskers watching K-state beat the hell outta texas (whoop!). i don't think they paid for a single drink all night. and over on texags, i don't think i've heard a single negative thing about the gameday experience in lincoln on saturday. as for not walking on any grass on campus...well, that's a common misconception. there's only one building on campus where they ask you not to walk on the grass. that's the memorial student center. the entire building and the grass around it are a living memorial to those aggies that sacrificed their lives in service to the country. and don't worry...there are signs posted everywhere that ask you not to walk on the grass, just in case you're not sure. if there's one thing the aggies take seriously, it's honoring our fallen aggies. i was hoping to make the trip up there this year to watch the game. i've always wanted to experience a game in lincoln. i guess i have to wait FOUR YEARS now.
  9. just like every school, they have their share of rude fans. they're definitely better than CU and Tech, by far. if I had to rate the entire Big 12 by their fans, (with 1 being the best) texas would probably be around a 7. of course, the older 'horns are much better than the students. and remember that texas has a HUGE amount of t-shirt fans that didn't actually go to school there. so there's a very good chance that if you do get harrassed, it's not going to be by someone that actually went/goes to school there.
  10. for what it's worth, there are plenty of aggies on texags that think it was a really classless and chickensh\t move by fran.
  11. go ahead and take pelini. as an aggie, i'd be happy to take tuberville.
  12. Fran is an idiot. That's why. He's notorious for going for 2 at the worst possible times. Just go to Texags.com and you can find NUMEROUS posts blasting Fran for his poor judgement on when to go for 2s.
  13. you know...coming here and reading this thread reminds me what great fans huskers are. if lane had said that about any other team, the fans would be screaming bloody murder and calling for his head. and you guys don't take it personally. i think the aggies are some of the classiest fans in the nation. but they're still beat by the huskers in that department...hands down. i've always said that if my kids don't end up going to A&M, there's only one other school in the Big 12 I'd let them go, and that's nebraska. stay classy huskers! keep your chins up! callahan will be out, and you guys will be building back up to where you were in the 90s.
  14. that's what ticks all the aggie fans off as well. A&M is so easy to figure out! for example...when Michael Corey (receiver) goes in the game, you KNOW the aggies are going to run it. I don't know how more teams don't pick up on these things, because Fran does it EVERY GAME!!!! and I love McGee to death. He's the second coming of Bucky Richardson. But Fran needs to learn when to take him out of the game. The poor kid can't pass (I personally think Fran ruined him as a passer...but that's for another thread). Our QB should not be getting 35 carries in a game. Fran needs to go. It's actually kind of funny coming over hear and reading y'alls comments. they are the EXACT same comments the Aggies are making about Fran. Actually...not funny. It's sad. How have two once proud programs been reduced to this? who would've thought a decade ago that the aggie/husker game wouldn't even be worth televising? just disgusting. i hope you guys get rid of callahan and find the one to take you back to your glory days. Good luck huskers.
  15. sure you can. as soon as fran realizes NU can't stop the run, he'll start passing. then it's NU's game from there on out. fran is a bonehead. he doesn't stick with what works. if the run game works, he'll start passing. and lord knows we can't pass.
  16. you don't want him. especially if you want the blackshirts back. he'll also take you to the 4-2-5 defense, with zone coverage, which is absolutely HORRIBLE!
  17. That's so weird. Because our facilities have improved DRAMATICALLY since Byrne came on board. It might've been a combination of Byrne and Bob Gates, but they're definitely a million times better now. Part of RC's problems with recruiting stemmed from the fact that the Aggies were so far behind in facilities compared to rest of the Big 12. Fran has the facilities, and is doing less with more talen.
  18. I don't think the money is going to be an issue at all. With the VIP scandal, it's pretty much assumed that the buyout will be GREATLY reduced. He's embarrassed the university, violated NCAA rules, and now he's losing recruits. Those were pretty much outlined in his contract as no-nos, and they're all grounds for termination. Let's say we get it down to a $2 million buyout...we don't even have to pay that as a lump sum. The only issue I can see is if there's a buyout for whomever coach we go after to replace Fran. Rumors are they might be going after Tuberville. If so, I think he has a $6 million buyout. That's the tough part. It might keep us from going after who we REALLY want. But Fran's buyout won't be an issue. The Aggie alumni have pretty deep pockets.
  19. Unfortunately, it wasn't Byrne's call on firing RC and hiring Fran when he got here. It was kind of a package deal...."you can have the job, but we're bringing in Fran as well". It's pretty much known that it was the big-money boosters that forced the Fran hire. Truth be told, the vast majority of the Aggies LOVE what Byrne has done for Aggie athletics. He's made some awesome coach hirings that have rocketed us up in the rankings (i.e. men's & women's basketball, men's baseball, track & field, swimming....the list goes on). Everyone pretty much agrees this is Byrne's most significant hire of his career. And the majority of the Aggies trust whatever Byrne decides. He hasn't steered us wrong yet. It is amazing to me how differently Huskers and Aggies view Byrne. To us, he's a savior.
  20. If the Huskers can pass (lord knows the Aggies can't defend the pass), and if you can stop our running game, you should win the game. And count on a few "WTF?" calls from Coach Fran to help you out along the way.
  21. Aggie here. I post on this website fairly infrequently. It's the only other one I post on besides Texags, because I'm a Husker fan (right behind being an Aggie fan). Things are not good in Aggieland right now. Most people want Fran gone and are furious what he's done to our once proud program. We may not have been national title winners in our heyday, but we still feel we were a force to be reckoned with. All we want is to get back to the days of the "Wrecking Crew". We thought Fran was our savior. Instead, he's done nothing but embarrass us to the rest of the nation. We're now the laughing-stock. I wish I could make it up to the game in Lincoln on Saturday. That's one place I've always wanted to see a college FB game. And now it'll be 4 years before I get another opportunity to see the Ags and Huskers in Lincoln. Hopefully by that point both of our teams will be back to their former glory. Glad you guys have gotten rid of Pederson. Hopefully Call is the next to go. We have our fingers crossed down in Aggieland that they'll be able to negotiate Fran's buyout down so he can be gone at the end of the season. Good luck Huskers!!
  22. If the Huskers can stop A&M's rushing attack, they should win the game. A&M is so inconsistent on passing, and rarely throws the ball deep. McGee is not a very accurate passer (I personally think Fran ruined him). If you can contain Lane & McGee, you should have the game in the bag. The best pass we probably had all season was the 71 yarder by Lane. He's more accurate than McGee. But McGee has no qualms about taking rough hits. He's not one of those QBs that's going to slide when a defender gets close. But he also gets very nervous in the pocket and makes bad throws. On defense, the Aggies run a 4-2-5, and it's HORRIBLE! We still have one of the absolute worst pass defenses. We play zone coverage, and give the receivers at least 5 yards cushion. We can't blitz to save our life. If the Huskers utilize a passing gameplan, it should be a cakewalk. As you can see from our last game against Tech, we couldn't stop their passing game. That's what always kills us. So much for the "wrecking crew" of the 80s/90s.
  23. Why is it that most schools think Aggies are pretty classy and nice fans, except for our "rivals" (UT, Tech, and Baylor)? Who has it wrong? The rest of the nation, or our rivals?
  24. I think it's a 50/50 tossup on who wins the game Saturday. The Aggies haven't been playing with any real passion, and they definitely seemed to give up during the loss in Lubbock last weekend. We can't defend against he pass....period. We play zone defense, and give every receiver at least 5 yards cushion before we even try to get to them. Add in some horribly ridiculous play-calling on Coach Fran's part, and there's a very good chance the Ags go home with another loss. Glad to see the Huskers are taking steps to fix what Pederson and Callahan have ruined. NU is my favorite team (besides the Ags, of course). I only hope Bill Byrne follows suit very soon and gets rid of Fran. I don't want to have to compete with you guys for the next HC.
  25. seriously....you had to come over to a team's website you're not even playing, to bash another team you're not even playing? talk about obsession. get over it already.
