  1. You are getting opinions too bad you don't like them. See ya. Try anything sponsored by the University. You will only see sunshine there.
  2. USC hasn't lost 15 games in the past 3 years. Actually that is to the contrary. Most of the staff hasn't been contacted for other jobs, and the ones that have went to schools that pale in comparision to NU and its tradition.
  3. Interesting. He did have to interview for many jobs just to get one that is a step backwards. On that thought with all of the players who have bailed and the assistants who have bailed, I wonder what's going on down there. These assistants haven't left for better jobs so are they seeing a sinking ship? Also with all of the openings in major college football and the NFL, how come none of these coaches (with the exception of Coz) have been named as candidates? Something is not right in Lincoln.
  4. BJax won't be withdrawing his name. According to Steve Sipple (of the Lincoln Journal-Star)'s interview with Brandon's high school coach, he is upset about how he was used in the Cotton Bowl. Apparently the straw that broke the camel's back.
  5. Sounds like a few we have had the last couple of years
  6. Sounds like he wasn't even the best qb on his former team. Let's hope he picks up the offense faster than Dailey or Taylor did or it could be a long year.
  7. You can't blame him for going, good luck Brandon! You can't trust this staff. He is the best RB we had this year by far yet he was #4 on the depth chart to start the season. Make us proud!
  8. You must not get out much. Every local talk show except for the one that Peterson runs rips this coaching staff. Tom Shatel has a new Q&A column in the World Herald and every one of the comments in it were critical of this staff. Many former players are critical of them (Benning, Zatechka, Frost, Frazier, Alberts) to name a few). Personally I have not heard many positives about this staff except that they supposedly know the West Coast Offense and that they are good salesmen. For what its worth, the only place that I have seen support for this staff is on internet message boards. Meyer wins a national championship in year two. Stoops wins one in year two. Carroll built the best program in less than 3 years. Ron Prince took a horrible team with a true freshman qb to a bowl game in his first year. The guy that Callahan replaced took a team that had only won 6 games combined in the 4 years prior to him getting there to a bowl game in his second season and had the same record a Callahan. The excuses are getting old, patience is wearing thin in Husker Nation.
  9. Please, Don't even compare Meyer with BC. Ron Zook had a top 5 recruiting class almost every year he was there. That's what Meyer had to work with. BC had to work with a lot, lot less than Meyer. The two situations are not even comparable in any respect. Yes they are comparable. Certainly Zook brought in more talent then Frank did but Leak was not the qb to run Meyer's system. he tailored his system around the players he has. And Florida played 14 true freshmen this year. If NU's talent really had dropped off that much then Callahan's much more talented players would be making more of a contribution right now. I would bet everything I own that if Meyer was coaching NU, we wouldn't be 22-15 in his 3 years.
  10. That's the way that I heard it, too. It's good that he wants to be around his family, but you have to admit that if the team acted like they needed him more (only let him kick 7 times this year after he went 19 for 23 last) or that they trusted him he might have been more motivated to stick around and make things work. That seems to be BC's way, just ignore players until they leave. It seems like there is a human factor missing from this coaching staff if players are bailing the way that they are. At this level, it's not a business, there is a lot of nurturing that needs to go on-- kids need to feel like they belong. I think that BC does the Xes and Os well, but can't really figure out humans. From what Sean Callahan said on Unsportsmanlike Conduct, Congdon was upset with his lack of playing time and the possibility of him being a liver donor is slim. Good luck to him. Let's see, thats 10 of the 30 from the 2005 class now gone Maybe there is more to football than just highly rated recruiting classes.
  11. This should turn up the heat on NU's coaching staff. Meyer is a great coach who has won everywhere he has been. It's only year two for him and he did it without his players. As terrible as the Big 12 is anything less than a Big 12 championship is a failure next year and changes need to be made. Even with the upgrade in talent that NU now has, the team still is not much better than they were back in the days of Solich and in some areas they are worse. If Meyer can do it at 3 different schools with players that he did not recruit (this year in the best conference), there is no reason why we should lose more than 2 games next year and be playing in a BCS game. Maybe Callahan is our Ron Zook or John Blake. The excuses are getting old we need results. If these simple goals cannot be met then Pederson and Callahan both should be shown the door.
  12. Just because a team is preseason ranked #2, it does not mean that they are the 2nd best team in the nation. You can only tell how good a team is at the end of the season. Just because a team is assumed to be good does not make it true. As I said before, Tennessee was a preaseason top 10 team last year, yet went 5-6. I don't know many people who would think that 5-6 team is a top 10 team. I don't. I look at what a team does over the entire season, not just which ever couple of weeks fits my fancy.
  13. Actually 4-6 against the top 25. You forgot Michigan last season and I'm almost 100% positive that Missouri was 25th in the Coaches poll the week we played them this season. 5 of the 6 losses have come against top 10 opponents at the time that we played them. So we're 4-1 against ranked opponents outside of the top 10 in the Callahan era (only loss being the Texas Tech thriller a year ago). Wrong. With A&M likely falling out of the rankings, in the Callahan era, NU has not beaten one team that has finished the season ranked. I don't care where they are when we played them. Remember Tennessee was preseason top 10 last year and finished 5-6. NU has yet to beat a ranked team since the coaching change.
  14. If Boise's winning the last few years has more to do with coaching then talent why wasn't the Almighty Dan Hawkins able to win with what he had at CU? Did he change his coaching style? To steal a line from many of the Husker faithful, Hawkins had only had one year. He doesn't have his players. It's a 180 degree turn around.........(YAWN)
  15. From Callahan's quote today about us "not yet being top 10" it doesn't seem that he trusts his players. And with the amount of players he has alienated from both Oakland and NU you may not want to say that he is universally loved by his players either. His players have to trust him, and if he keeps making dumbass calls like this, they won't.
  16. Pretty cool! As many have mentioned "Things have changed. That ain't Nebraska any more." I see that there were no highlights from the past 3 seasons, hmm?
  17. I agree. It happened last time. We had to settle, and look at what it got us. Listening to sports radio today, Callahan mentioned that he "knew that we were not a top 10 team" to which Stewart Bradley seemed pissed (it also explains his poor game plans like this game, OU and USC). Also the Auburn D Coordinator mentioned that "if they could survive the first 12-14 plays, they would be fine because West Coast [Offense] guys are 'programmed.'"
  18. Why would you run that with 2 guys who did not handle the ball all year except for very few instances?
  19. Much of what your saying is making a ton of sense. I thought the play calling was very good. 3 and 19 ...we run a shovel pass and get a first down. Excellent call. Yep, every single call was a great call. This game had all the excitement and imagination of a Solich coached game, well with out the qb left, qb right, qb middle call.
  20. No, Congdon is great. The short kicks are part of the game plan. Also, why did we go to get this kid from Texas when there was a better kicker in state, who wanted to come to NU, but wasn't offered?
