  1. yes Seriously, to most people on the coasts or in the south, this is what Nebraska means.
  2. Told Rivals he likes NU and wants to visit.
  3. I will echo what others have said. Location, location, location. As 'nice' of a city as Lincoln is, there are much more exciting college towns across the nation. To most young dudes entering college, that plays a huge role. If we do get one of those 'wow' players, it will be because the kid has a different perspective than 95% of the high school seniors in his class, and picks his school for purely football related reasons. Also, it's not like we haven't gotten a 'wow' guy before. Marlon Lucky was one of the best RBs in the country (like top 3). We beat out USC (and the Messiah himself, Pete Carroll) in a head-to-head to get him to come to Nebraska.
  4. I say, if a kid is no longer interested in us, we stop posting updates on him. I disagree. In addition to following Nebraska, I like following recruiting as a whole. I know there are other board members who do as well. It's relevant information, especially if they decide to go to another Big 12 school.
  5. I can't say I've ever seen a Nebraska player control a game from the DE spot like KVB did against Northwestern in the 2000 Alamo Bowl. He literally shut down Northwestern's offense, which put up fantastic numbers all year, for the whole game.
  6. Will unofficially visit Nebraska, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Missouri, Clemson and Georgia this spring. Also has interest in Tennessee.
  7. Agree with you 100%. I think this guy is potentially the best player in the 2010 class. Unfortunately, there is 0 chance we get him.
  8. He's USC's number one target for Safety. The odds look very slim on this guy.
  9. I think he could go either way. I'll change his entry to ATH.
  10. Player: Dietrich Riley Hometown: La Canada, CA Position: ATH Height: 6'1" Weight: 189 lbs 40 time: Visit Date: TBD Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennesee, USC, UCLA, Washington Favorites: Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Scout: ESPN Grade: Assessing the talent: "Riley is truly an amazing athlete. He has good size and is extremely active both sides of the football. Possesses all the ball skills and football instincts to be a difference maker. As a running back displays great vision and makes cuts while accelerating; reads the hole from tackle to tackle or bounces the ball outside. Makes defenders miss in the openfield and can run through an arm tackle; has little wasted motion. Has exceptional quickness and a burst. Catches the ball well out of the backfield on the flare and flat routes and can turn a short catch into six points. As a wide receiver, has soft and reliable hands; shows the ability to snatch the ball out of the air and get north and south in a hurry. Has excellent leaping ability and can go up to high point the ball as a receiver or as a safety. Very dangerous with the ball in his hands; big play maker. Tremendous instincts as a defensive back; reads and reacts instantly. Breaks quickly on run support and doesn't shy away from delivering on the ball carrier or receiver. Takes good angles and transitions in the openfield; turns his hips and changes direction fluidly. Displays closing and catch up speed; runs down ball carriers that break contain or receivers from the opposite side of the field. Has the ability to run by tacklers on defense and blockers on offense. A smooth and fluid athlete with a ton of natural talent; does things that can't be coached. Riley is one of those rare athletes that truly could line up either side of the football and be a success. He should play very early in his collegiate career." - from ESPN Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 2%
  11. Mike Brown. My favorite all-time Husker.
  12. Michael Booker was a stud, although it's hard not to vote for Ralph or Tyrone. Keyou Craver also sticks in my mind, but I think it's just because of that hit he had against that A&M receiver. Booker gets the vote from me though.
  13. Player: Jay Guy Hometown: Aldine, TX Position: DT Height: 6'2" Weight: 300 lbs. 40 time: TBD Visit Date: TBD Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Cal (soft verbal), Baylor, Houston, Kansas State, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Texas A&M, SMU, Stanford, UCLA, Favorites: TBD Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Scout: ESPN Grade: N/A Assessing the talent: "Guy is not just another guy on the field. He is a fun player to watch as he has a "bull in a china shop" style to his play. He is very active for a big boy and while at times he can be sloppy in his play he can be disruptive. He is a thickly built kid with adequate height. Needs to be more consistent in his get-off, but he shows that he can be explosive at times coming out of his stance. When he is clicking and firing off the ball low and shooting his hands he can stun and knock back a blocker. He can be disruptive in the backfield by getting the blocker on his heels and pushing him back. He does need to watch his pad level as he can tend to play high. He will come off the ball with force but will leave his chest exposed. He can struggle with double teams some because he can play high. He can be active with hands, but needs to be more consistent in quickly punching and separating from blockers. He can be violent, but at times makes things harder on himself and gets caught up wrestling with blockers. When he can get to the shoulder of a blocker he can power his way into the backfield and will flash the ability to turn his hips and get skinny some to slip past. He has a good motor and really hustles around. As a pass rusher he can bull rush his way back, but needs to be more active with his weapons and work on shedding from the blockers so he can not just create pressure, but also get to the quarterback. There are some things that Guy needs to clean up, but he is a big kid that lets it fly on the snap of the ball." - from ESPN Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 10%. Verbally committed to Cal, but we recently offered and he seems very excited about it.
  14. Player: Clayton Geathers Hometown: Hemingway, SC Position: DB Height: 6'1" Weight: 190 lbs. 40 time: TBD Visit Date: TBD Scholarships offered: Central Florida Favorites: Nebraska, Clemson, Georgia Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Scout: ESPN Grade: N/A Assessing the talent: Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 25%. I'm not even sure if the coaches are aware of this guy, and he doesn't have an offer from Nebraska yet. However, on multiple occasions (interviews, etc.), he has stated that his favorite school is Nebraska, and that he has always wanted to be a Husker. That's pretty rare for a South Carolina kid to say, with no prior connections to the school. I hope the coaches get some tape and get in touch with him. Several of his family members have played, or are playing in the NFL.
  15. Agreed. I can't wait for the final result.
  16. Player: Aaron Franklin Hometown: Marshall, TX Position: LB Height: 6'1" Weight: 215 lbs. 40 time: N/A Visit Date: TBD Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Baylor, Oklahoma, Stanford, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M Favorites: TBD Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Scout: ESPN Grade: Assessing the talent: Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 10%. Doesn't know much about us.
  17. Player: Eddie Johnson Hometown: Midlothian, TX Position: WR Height: 6'3" Weight: 194 lbs. 40 time: N/A Visit Date: TBD Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Arizona, Baylor, Missouri, SMU, Tulsa Favorites: TBD Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Scout: ESPN Grade: 77 Assessing the talent: Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15%. Visiting this spring or summer.
  18. That sounds good in theory, but I think you still have to make the base salary comparable to the base salary to other head coaches. LOL tell this to the people ready to burn Wall St. bankers... In any event, I think it's awesome that TO is taking steps to get this corrected. When some of our assistants do leave (and they will), we want the coaching community to regard Nebraska as both a great football program AND a place where you can make a great living so that when we go looking for new assistants, we can get the best and the brightest.
  19. Player: Diamonte Wheeler Hometown: Arlington, TX Position: DT Height: 6'2" Weight: 255 lbs. 40 time: N/A Visit Date: TBD Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma State Favorites: Nebraska, Oklahoma State Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Scout: N/A ESPN Grade: N/A Assessing the talent: Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 40%. We are in his top two.
  20. It can't be. Bo is still the coach! You know, from some of remarks, it almost sounds like you want Bo to fail at Nebraska, just so you can say I told you so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you make alot of sarcastic remarks about Bo. I really don’t believe that he wants Bo to fail because that would mean his favorite team would fail as well. I know there are people out there that are like that and we saw plenty of them from 2004-2007 but this isn’t the case here. I think this is more of a case of being tired of the “Bo can do no wrong and this cat can walk on water” crowd. I compare it to the way I feel about Obama, I don’t want him to fail because that would mean the country I love will fail but that doesn’t mean I can’t be tired of the Oprah crowd that swing by his balls on everything. I understand where you are coming from, but I think that the whole "too cool for school", aloof crowd needs to warm up a bit. There is nothing wrong with a little optimism, versus constant sarcastic cynicism. There is a happy medium between fairy tale hero worship of Bo and unabashed skepticism.
  21. Player: Evan Washington Hometown: DeSoto, TX Position: OT Height: 6'5" Weight: 290 lbs. 40 time: N/A Visit Date: TBD Scholarships offered: Nebraska, Kansas State, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech Favorites: TBD Rankings/Stars: Rivals: Scout: ESPN Grade: 77 Assessing the talent: Son of NFL player Marvin Washington. "Washington looks like what you see on Saturday afternoon already at the offensive tackle position. He has great height and overall size. Possesses very good natural strength and often overpowers his opponent; dwarfs smaller defensive linemen. Big powerful lower body helps get movement off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes leads with the chest instead of the hands in run game resulting in not near the domination he is capable of creating. Plays too high when run blocking and must become a much better knee bender. Very good straight ahead base blocker but needs to play lower in order to control the line of scrimmage every play. Shows the foot quickness to reach and zone block but lacks some overall foot agility. Slips to level two linebackers but needs to be a better finisher in space; also true when pulling and trapping. Has to concentrate on staying square on combo and double team blocking; tends to get angular. Pass protection is hot and cold. Huge wing span is a plus and does a much better job of leading with the hands in the pass game. Often locks into the frame of the pass rusher completely stalemating the defender's charge. Other times jumps the rusher too soon on dropback instead of kicking back and anchoring down. Needs to show patience on drop back in order to not give the edge to a speed rusher. Washington has the ability to be an outstanding pass protector at the next level but he must gain flexibility in the lower body and use his hands more consistently especially in the run game. " - from ESPN Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 10%. Doesn't know much about us, but we were his first offer. Goes to the same school as current 2010 prospects WR Darius Terrell (committed to Texas) and CB Adrian White (NU not in his top 5).
