  1. Well, last year...uhh, 0%. Love and Natter...and McWilson until he fell off a cliff and died on impact Hahaha. You should be a spokesman for Subway.
  2. Listening to the radio - they spent the entire 3rd quarter talking to the AD and barely mentioned the game. <sigh>
  3. It's all good. I gave up oxygen for lent last year. So you both gave up the same thing.
  4. I'd love to see Terrell Newby back there. x2, or even Drake Martinez's. I'd bet a lot of money we don't see them in the spring game. I'll disagree here. While he didn't get into the open field much last year, we've already seen how fast he is returning punts and kicks. Ameer is faster than most backs. He's tough and finds yards between the tackles. I'd bet he's All-B1G this season. And based on the last few years, I bet we see very little of either of the true frosh (unless there's an injury of course).
  5. Wow, another thread about whether (insert coach name) is doing a good enough job and whether that will lead the Huskers back to elite status. Can we move this crap to another thread and at least try to keep someplace for practice updates?
  6. Thanks for the laugh to get my morning started, Paul.
  7. Why don't you guys put him on "ignore" if you don't like his posts? Keep the posts coming, nebraskafaninwi
  8. That's why Illegal Pete's is the preferred burrito place here in Colorado. They mix the fillings before wrapping it up.
  9. Didn't we score 30+ against all the teams you mentioned?
  10. Sounds like you've been thinking about this.
  11. Is it the 60's again? Or maybe the 70's or 80's? Even the early and late 90's had the fans saying pretty much the same sentiment. The more things change the more they stay the same. What I've learned is that no matter what happens, fans are going to believe what they always believe. Some are eternally thinking that "this is the year!" Others are still trying to figure out how last season could have gone the way they wanted. Some others don't think coach A or B is "getting it done". Recently a large faction has blamed/praised recruiting hits and misses. The older I get, the more I realize that fans=fanatics. I used to naively think I could convince another fan of a differing viewpoint or that I could learn something from a debate. But really there are very few open-minded fanatics. I'd like to think I'm one of the open-minded ones, but based on what I've seen in others that doesn't seem likely. Mostly what I've learned is that whether you're considered a "skeptic/realist/negative nancy" or a "believer/sun shine pumper/etc" is apparently more important than being a fanatic for your team. I'm not sure if I've got a point other than to just share that opinion with everyone. As for myself, I usually start out thinking we'll have a poor year and slowly convince myself we'll go undefeated by the opening kickoff.
  12. Almost every other measurement > 40 time for OT Heck, almost every other measurement > 40 time for all positions
  13. seriously? it would be helpful to know if the link is to premium content only members can see. it would also be helpful when people post to provide insight into the recruitment of a kid. links to recruiting sites are nice but not all of us want to click on 6 million links. I completely disagree. Don't click on it if you don't want to - it's that easy. I'd rather have the link than not have it.
  14. Hope the bad practice didn't affect him.
  15. You have the weirdest posting style I've ever seen. Just thought I'd share. What is a manster. Half man - Half monster? I like food. Half Man- Half Monster Like Lacy from Alabama- 235 lbs and fast, consistently running people over and getting the 3rd and 2, 4th and 1 .Low Pad level, explosive TO THE POA and THROUGH THE POA (Cross Hasnt really shown me that so far), low to the ground, just a brute/bully etc We havent been able to consistently make those downs power running, Cross or otherwise Not sure what the answer is, but IMO it isnt Cross You post how you want to, I'll post how I want to LOL. all I care about is legit content. What a waste a forum would be if everyone were exact clones of one another I like the offense, seeing progress, but Im not happy with our 3rd and 4th and short efficiency. I dont think most Husker fans feel real confident we are getting first downs running inside on those downs. I know Im not. GBR If you look at the numbers, we are decently proficient in short yardage situations. Last year we were: With one yard to go: Cross was 78%, Burkhead 71%, Heard 50%, Martinez 80%, and Ameer was an astounding 92% success rate. From the 1 yardline and goal to go: Ameer is 2/3 (his failure resulted in a TD the next play), Rex: 0/1 (failure resulted in an Ameer TD next play), Cross 2/3. Extending that to the 2 yardline and goal to go: Ameer 3/5, Cross 4/6, Rex 1/2, and Martinez 1/2. Overall, we were pretty successful in 1 yard to go situations with Ameer leading the way. In goal to go situations, we scored TD's around 90% of the time with one of the failures ending a half as time ran out. If we want to be top 10 we have to be better than 9/14 from the 2- about 65% and better from the 1 than 4/7 57% As to 1 yard to go, not sure what the real stats were but I do remember some plays we made and some real stuffs as well- not top 10 worthy IMO- which is our goal My guess is some of those Martinez and Ameer runs were to the outside The inside runs- just muscle us the 1-2 yards when we need it- isnt as consistent as it needs to be to be top 10 worthy GBR You know that the other team is trying to stop us, right? The other teams are trying to be top ten as well.
  16. If he is academic minded and wants into the SEC, I could see Vandy or Florida as strong competition. Bama does not provide the academics. Nebraska obviously is a strong academic institution, he has a brother on the team, immediate family living in the area, he would be instate, and has grown up in Nebraska (since the age of 6), so most signs point N (just not the SEC comment). Nebraska isn't exactly a strong academic institution. I think we sometimes get that confused because of the academic all-americans. We provide a tremendous amount of support to our student-athletes, but that doesn't mean we are a great academic institution. All that really means is that our athletes get good grades. It really isn't a reflection on the content of the education. OTOH, even top academic schools rarely have top academic situations for their athletes. Vandy and Florida aren't churning out any better students from their football teams than NU - possibly NU is ahead on that comparison.
  17. While I certainly understand your enthusiasm, I'd be surprised if Taylor gets more than a few carries this year. I'm betting he redshirts. With Abdullah cemented as the top RB and Imani Cross looking like a solid #2, there's not a lot of time for true frosh there. Add in that Martinez takes quite a few carries from the QB position, and there's not a whole lot available this fall. Plus he'll be dealing with all the common challenges of frosh being away from home and dealing with a different level of competition in college. Injuries or an exceptional performance from AT could of course change things, but 2014 or even 2015 is more likely for seeing AT.
  18. Can the mods just get rid of the 1st posts that say "Editing"? Someone else has gotten the template in the 2nd post for most the the threads.
  19. He might have shocked his own world.
  20. Your last sentence made me laugh. The NFL spends millions trying to figure that out. And on a bigger stage, billions upon billions are spent trying to figure that out on the stock market. "Projecting potential" is simply educated guessing. There's no magic bullet to figure it out.
  21. I'm sure that is it. Somebody mentioned that he still has some work to do just a little while ago in this thread I believe. I know it's posted somewhere around here. Somebody more knowledgeable can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think only the guys already on campus are academically qualified. The NCAA Clearinghouse will qualify the other players after they graduate.
  22. Happens every year with almost every team. Those players can't participate in school or football until cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
  23. With all due respect to OU, does NU really have a more lenient academic qualification standard than them? No, but often how schools count and accept transfer credits differs dramatically. Even affiliated schools such as UNL and UNO can differ.
