  1. Unfortunately, defections are part of recruiting. I'm sure we'll have a few jump ship, almost every school does. With Rippy and Whitmore continuing to take visits, they're my mostly likely decommits right now.
  2. Anyone know his eligibility or if he'll be available for spring ball?
  3. For qualifying they use a sliding scale based on GPA and ACT/SAT score. They don't go by the 16 he got but use the total of the four sections of the test. To be a Division 1 qualifier with a GPA of 2.5 or above the total has to be a minimum of 68. Yet as a partial qualifier with a GPA of 2.75 or above (he's 2.82) the sum of the scores only has to be 59 which is feasible with the 16. I believe the Big XII only allows one partial qualifier per recruiting class. There are no partial qualifiers anymore. That went away with the formation of the B12. The test score is on some sort of sliding scale using the parts of tests (can be different ones), but I have no idea how that works or what the numbers are.
  4. I expect we'll begin hearing reports he's ready to get on the field in the week leading up to the WF game. Then the fans will complain while he's not on the field through the next 3-4 games. Then he'll start making limited appearances and the fans will complain that he's not seeing more time on the field. At the end of the season the fans will blame any secondary issues on Grixby and that the coaches didn't get Bowman on the field enough. How well Bowman plays is irrelevant in this scenario. But seriously, I agree that Bowman isn't the superstar some have made him out to be. And coming back from both knees being injured and not seeing the field for over a year means his recovery is that much harder. However, I think he's better CB than Grixby or Jones. In the end he'll see significant minutes by mid-season and he'll be ok but not super.
  5. If you had said that he's the least hyped or most under-the-radar, that would be more accurate. As far as impact, none of the recruits have had an impact, really. In fact, most of the 07 recruits have yet to step on campus and therefore have had no impact. You're saying "he is easily the lowest-impact guy" which is a prediction that the guy will have little to no impact in the future as compared to the other recruits. So either you meant something other than how I have interpreted "impact", or I strongly disagree with your assessment that this early stage in the game.

  7. Didn't the SAT change the scoring system in the last few years? I heard that 1600 isn't the max anymore.
  8. Did anyone see it and have a scouting report?
  9. He did receive 4 stars from rivals.
  10. He's planning on graduating early and getting on campus in January. That's huge!!! I think we bring everything he's looking for to the table, but he doesn't seem to have narrowed down the list of about 20 schools yet so there's a lot of competition.
  11. "played previously at Wichita Collegiate" - is he a JUCO?
  12. Anyone know what his eligibility will be?
  13. IMO, Todd Peterson is going to emerge as the next best WR after Purify. He's tall, gets open, and catches the ball well. He's also going to be overlooked early with Purify, Nunn, and Swift getting the attention.
  14. Is he a guy that could arrive in the spring?
  15. Am I reading it worng? That link has Blue at #10.
  16. There's no way Octo is a DE in the 3-4 scheme. He's most likely on OLB who's rushing from a 3-point stance.
  17. I believe David Harvey is from Maryland.
  18. True. I meant that it's unusual even in the recruiting world.
  19. A few HS baseball coaches I talked to here don't think Hill will get drafted. I don't know how accurate their opinions are, but thought I'd share.
  20. That's pretty strange to commit this early and then decommit so quickly.
  21. Grixby, Jones, and Green started every game last year (or close to it). I'll grant that Green is moving positions, but he also started about 8 games at CB the year before. So we look to have plenty of experience. The real questions about the secondary (IMO): Will the experience translate into better play? Will the inexperienced players move into bigger roles or even start? Will we stay healthy or have more injuries? Will we have a pass rush to help the secondary?
  22. I've heard some other people say the same thing. Which of the LB's do you take out? I'm guessing the WLB. Mizzou and Texas are the only teams that come to mind as playing the "spread" offense against which it seemed effective last year (only 1 game though). Maybe we'd use it as part of our 3rd and long package when we bring in fresh pass rushers.
