  1. Dumb question and maybe it was asked all ready. What happens if he gives out the blackshirts today and then the defense gets destroyed vs OU? The same people in here clamoring for the blackshirts to be handed out will be the first ones to call them the PinkShirts. Get over it. He'll hand em out when he feels the team deserves them. It will probably come after a game in which no mental mistakes are made or when we completely dominate a good offense. Take a chill pill, they'll get em someday.
  2. Has nothing to do with ESPN or ABC. But I've always been fond of this one. "You can't spell Co.ck-sucker without OU"! Hopefully I don't get hated on by a moderator for that one!
  3. FYI - This is not intended as racist for all you PC people. Just a cheesy smile.
  4. Murillo was supposed to have help from the safety. He can't leave his responsibility to chase Crabtree. Asante did have a lot of TD saving tackles, but it makes me wonder, if he wasn't in the right position to begin with. Secondary needs to step up and quit repeating the same mistakes over and over. That said, I'm not sure the O-Line really played that much better, or if the playcalling just kept TT offbalance enough to hide the lack of a good push from the line. Maybe I'm wrong here. They did execute the plan well enough to win, and that's all we can ask for. Put yourself in a position to win. Once we've been there a couple of times, maybe we'll learn how to finish it. The remaining games don't look so bad now. OU is my upset special. I've called it all year. I still feel that we win that game. GO BIG RED!
  5. I was at that game. Immediately after the INT I fell over the seat I was in jumping up and down cheering. Then me and my buddy came to our senses to watch the Huskers run the clock out only to see TT lining up with the ball again. LeKevin Smith is a name that lives in infamy for diehards. FALL DOWN!!!!!!!! F&^*!! The only other game that compares to the heartbreak was Texas in 02 when Grixby takes the punt deep into Texas territory and all that we need is a FG to send it to OT and F'n Jamaal Lord chucks an INT to clinch the L. Fundamentals. Say that over and over again and maybe we'll eventually get them right. We as Husker fans don't ask for much. A hard days work and a winning football team. We're on the path back to having both of them again. GBR! NU 37 ISU 17
  6. I have said from the beginning of the year that our upset of the year is OU. I just have a feeling about that game. That is the only game from here on out that I don't expect us to be favored. KU at home just became very very winnable. I've never been one for moral victories, and this heartbreaker could have the opposite effect. We need another great week of coaching to get our men jacked up for ISU. GO BIG RED!
  7. I wanted him to go for two, but I don't fault his decision to kick it. Our offense was having no trouble moving the ball all day, Tech has a shoddy kicking game, and our defense did play fairly well inside the red zone considering how good Techs Offense is. He made the call to put us in position to win the game at the end and he had that with the blocked PAT. A TD wins and then somehow Jamaal Lord kidnapped Ganz and stole his uniform and came back from the dead to lead us to the L. That was a joke obviously, but that was exactly the first thought that ran thru my head. I am trying to figure out what is worse. LeKevin's fumble or Ganz's INT. Both snatched defeat from the jaws of victory... That said...I am pleased with the schemes on O and D. The coaches put the players in position to make plays to win the game and that's all we can ask for as fans. Once we get past the STUPID mistakes and penalties, we'll be able to compete with anyone. Once again, I am sticking with my pick of us upsetting OU in Norman on Nov 1st. GO BIG RED!!!
  8. I'm so sick and tired of people calling 18-21 year olds KIDS! They are grown men. Maybe that is why they play so God-awful whenever they line up against someone who maybe bigger and better then them! We are the only BCS team other then Duke to not win a game vs a top 20 team since 2001! We baby them and baby them, calling them kids, saying that these poor kids can't handle the criticism. You know what, it was only 7 years ago that I was 20, and I sure as heck could have handled being called out for not playing well. It would have motivated me to work my butt off to shut everyone up! I refuse to think that our football players become demoralized and go cry themselves to sleep because someone on a message board said to learn how to block or tackle. And if they do, they need to suck it up and be men. Men bear criticism, work harder, to shut that person up! Believe it or not, these "kids" are adults, who have the right to enlist in the Armed Forces, buy tobacco, and some, alcohol. We have to stop babying them and think we are hurting their feelings too much!
  9. This is a simple one. Is anyone else sick of hearing Slauson, Murtha, and Cotton talk about how close they are to being a great rushing offense and it is just one block here or there? Come on! Don't give me that garbage. Tell the truth. Tell me that you are struggling, and that you are working hard at improving the run game. Don't sugar coat it by saying that it is one guy here or one guy there. That is an insult to all Husker fans, who are some of the most knowledgeable in the country. It is the entire line as a whole not working together. It's them not being mean and nasty and disciplined. You can paint your face up all you want Slauson. Until you actually block someone, the D will just think your an idiot. That said, I'm hoping the offense figures out the concept of rush blocking by this Saturday. We need a huge run game to keep our D off the field and to keep TT offense off it. Here are my predictions. If NU has 100 yds or less rushing TT 56 NU 21 If NU has 200 yds rushing TT 35 NU 38 If by some miracle of God, we get 300 yds rushing TT 28 NU 45 My gut tells me we won't get 100 yds rushing, and it'll be one more week of what if's and Callahan esque excuses. No more excuses. Get mad and play smart, disciplined football! GBR!!
  10. Are you kidding? The fans have the right to voice their displeasure of how poorly the team is playing by leaving. Being a fan doesn't mean that you have to sit the entire game and watch your beloved team get slaughtered. Get real. You honestly think that the fans want to stay the whole game, watch an almost 40 point loss, and then have to put up with the traffic at midnight on a Saturday night in Lincoln? Everyone that left early probably listened on the radio as they left, went home or to the bar, and drank their sorrows away. Get over yourself. Just because you have the stomach to sit and stay and watch that terrible game until the final gun doesn't make you a better Husker fan then anyone who left the game early. Pompass a$$. Your warning level has been increased for violating the Board's rule against personal attacks on members. A second violation will result in a temporary ban. A third violation will result in a permanent ban. Wow. If you thought that was a personal attack, I'm glad I didn't say what I really wanted to.

  12. First, you recruit some speed on defense so you can play man to man and bump and run. The spread is all about timing. Disrupt the timing and you can slow it down. You also need to throw in different coverages, different blitz packages. Oh yeah, and learn how to tackle would be huge. Until we get the athletes on defense, the best defense is a ball control offense. Shorten the game. Keep the opposing defense on the field as much as possible and wear them down. But wait, we couldn't run the ball versus a group of girl scouts. The zone blocking scheme is garbage. Get rid of it. Put a hat on a hat, lead with a fullback, not a fricken TE, and run behind the fullback. That will establish the play action pass, short crossing patterns, etc. We are in trouble if we can't establish a ground game. No bowl game for the 3rd time since Solich was fired. I believe in Bo and think he'll turn it around. A great saying I've heard once applies here. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken $h1t. Once again, thank you Steve Pederson for not allowing us to gravitate toward mediocrity. Being terrible is so much more satisfying.
  13. Nebraska 37 Missouri 31 Passing 287 Rushing 125 Going with my heart and not my head here...Just can't pick against the Skers...head is saying Mizzou wins by 20... hope my head is wrong...we need a big upset around here...been way too long... GO BIG RED!
  14. Just a quick thought for all of you to ponder as you contemplate firing our OC after one loss. Our players have had 4 years of poor coaching, ingraining poor techniques, and poor habits. If any of you have ever been through any sort of intense training, you'd understand that you practice over and over until it becomes muscle memory. Football is a sport where if you need time to think about your technique or your responsibilities, it's too late, you are beat. All these techniques need to be like breathing, they need to just happen. Now, every week you hear Pelini harping on executing during practice and games. Our players have to get to the point where the new techniques take over for the poor, and that's when you'll see marked improvement in the O-line, D-line, LB's and DB's. You just watch, by the mid way point of the season, you'll be seeing vastly improved blocking, better gap responsibility, and more pass deflections and less big plays. It won't be in time for Missouri, but by the time we play OU, I see us being able to run more effectively and playing better defense just because of the extra practice time. I've read on other boards about getting on Watson for not running the ball enough, and that is a perfectly fine gripe, but in order to move the ball, we need balance and some outside the box thinking. I think the running game would vastly improve by adding a FB to the equation. I don't think Lawson or Mackovicka have seen the field yet this year. Throw in some counters and FB dive to the mix, that shakes it up a bit on O and will free up some toss sweeps, options, and draws. Sprinkle in some play action and some deep crossing patterns, and voila, your moving the ball again. (at least in my own theory!) Let me know what you think. I do think we need to give some time for our players to get to the point where they lose these bad habits, hopefully sooner rather then later.
  15. I love how fast someone gets annoited the "NEXT" somebody when they have one good game. Remember Joe Dailey's preformance in the Red/White game in Cally's first year, all they hype he received? Let's cool the jets and let him play a few games before he becomes the next Romo or Montana or whomever you are comparing him to...Also, no matter how good he may be at QB, remember he can't tackle and that's what we need more then anything.
  16. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people don't know how to use the words LOSE and LOSS or when they mispell it LOOSE... You don't loose a game...loose is what your Grandma is... When you are speaking in past tense, it's a LOSS, LOSE is present tense...I.E. Rock paper scissors, I pick Rock, you pick scissors, you lose...5 minutes later, it's a loss, not a lose, or a loose...SOB people it's not that difficult...
  17. These guys are obviously morons because only EITHER NU or CU will make a bowl, not both of us...each has 1 game left and each are 5-6 so it's fricken impossible for both of us to become bowl eligible...I am not a math wizard, but come on...
  18. I heard Cosgrove applied at McDonalds...no word yet on if they'll even bring him in for an interview since he is always "Just sick" after work every day... Hopefully Cosgrove can a job somewhere else. I heard he is a good man, but he is just clueless on coaching...
  19. Knock off spreading all these dumb rumors...BC is right, this is a HUGE HUGE distraction for our guys, and if T.O. decides to let BC go, it WON'T BE until after the season is complete...get over it...we are stuck w/our current coaching staff until then... GO BIG RED!
  20. How about Bill Cowher? Smashmouth football, hardnosed defense. He would be a GREAT fit for Nebraska values...Doubt that would ever happen, but he'd be one of my top choices...
  21. Thanks alot. You all have been a big help. Do any of you know of a Husker Rally going on anywhere or is that just a rumor? GO BIG RED
