  1. What I was saying in regards to being stacked at rb is yes we have a lot of bodies, but how many of them would contribute on a top five or ten bcs team? I am excited for the future about tray and rex, but Helu is a senior and the rest aren't really top notch guys, although I really think Ward can become one. IMO we Heards committment gives us the ideal amount of quality bodies at rb. anything less than 3 and it can be a replay of iowa state and anything more than four and people begin to transfer, much like USC.
  2. How can you say that Hagg will start ahead of Dennard? Yes Hagg is a playmaker, but more from a hybrid LB sort of way. How many times did you see the ball get lobbed up to the guy Hagg was covering man to man only to have Hagg get beaten or interfere with his guy? Dennard is one of if not the best man to man cover corner we have on the entire team and he will not get beaten out for one of the corner spots by anyone especially Hagg.
  3. I actually think that the 07' class is callys best and there are a ton of very big contributors out of that class. Prince (1st team all big 12, shut down corner) Asante (1st team all big 12, 3 year starter) Crick (outstanding0 Hagg (very important part to our D) Helu (don't need to say anything) Marcel (Young yet and has contributed a ton) Adi (huge weapon despite B12CG) Murillo (started two years coming from juco) Niles (had a bigger year this year, was hurt by not redshirting) Currenski (will contribute by the time hes over) Blue and Mendoza could end up being big contributors in one way or the other before their time is up as well.
  4. Everyone keeps saying we are stacked at rb but I don't think we are overly stacked at all. Helu is going to be a senior and burkhead and tray are going to be sophmores. mendoza is more of a situational/3rd down back, okafor might not even stick it out with NU and Ward (although I think he's better than tray) doesn't seem to fully get the pass pro aspect. We have a lot of bodies at RB but not a lot that would even crack the three deep at places like texas, ou or florida. Heard, Burkhead and Green are the types of playmakers we need to beat the best on a consistent basis.
  5. Jaquizz Smith also impressed me a lot this year and Ebner will be a pretty decent LB as well, but I agree that they need a lot more recruits on both lines.
  6. Ya I think that we should give Cotton next year and if he doesnt show huge improvement then we need to look elsewhere. If he shows he can excel with next years group we have some pretty big studs coming up that he should be able to take us to where we want to go.
  7. I really hope Hagg moves and I think he will in certain cases. He doesn't play the ball well when he is man to man in the corner position and I think he would excel being able to have his eyes in the backfield and just play the qb. He's super athletic and would bring a lot to the safety position next to either smith or thenarse next year. I do think that Green would be a good option to have in the dime or nickel bc he's a bit bigger than Middelton and I think he would be kind of an interchangable player when it comes to run support much like Hagg has been this year. I see Middleton as kind of in that Prince or Dennard mold where he is much more of a shut down corner on the outside.
  8. I absolutely think that our offense can take off with a guy like Green or Turner at qb running a power run game. However, Wats is going to have to get a lot better at his play calling and offense in general IMO. Right now it seems like when we ran the spread we either ran outs, stop routes or bubble screens and thats it. Then when we went to our power run game all we did when we passed the ball was we would lob it deep to Paul. You look at Va Tech or Uconn or any other team that runs a power run game O and they have a very diverse pass game but not really west coast diverse. I realize that a lot of our O was set up to win and our line wasn't very good and our wr's weren't either. But Wats O in general is going to have to get a lot more match up friendly.
  9. I don't wish him the best in the future.
  10. with the addition of Heard our offensive class isn't looking too bad at all. We have some excellent linemen in this class, dynamic playmaker at TE, and a very, very promising WR and now a playmaker at RB. With the addition of one more WR this whole class will be excellent IMO.
  11. has anyone heard anything about how Washington has looked so far? He's one frosh that I have heard nothing about.
  12. I was a little skeptical as well, but HI changed their headline to "Huge Addition" with quotes and film to go along with the article. I'm not a member so I have no idea what it says but I think with the headline its safe to say that he's a Husker.
  13. SWWEEEEEET!!!!!! Huge, huge pick up!!!!!
  14. well that might make more sense seeing as how they have an article up on him but he's still not on the commit list. did you read it or hear from someone who read it?
  15. Sooo it appears Heard will be a husker. Can anyone 100% confirm?
  16. Personally I am pretty impressed with what they have got on the offensive side of the ball. Demien, Lucas, Sasser, Franklin all seem to be excellent players that could very well end up just like Alexander. They also seem to be recruiting pretty decent in the defensive backfield, which is where I see a four star and some ath. that also could project to the secondary. What I don't see in this class or a lot of the other classes they get is a very big empahsis on O and D lines. I'm pretty fearful about their O skill players and anyone just assuming they won't pan out is just sour that we don't have the quantity they have for O skill players. Lucas and Sasser will be excellent receivers. Maclin good? Not many are so that just isn't a favorable comparison.
  17. Love it!!! I think he could bring some really good innovation to the offense, some pride in NU football and I think he would relate very well to the team. His line of coaches that he's got to learn under isn't too shabby either.
  18. I don't know that I would say he led them to a win. He overthrew #7 three times on a for sure td. Who the hell is #7 anyway? That kid can fly and looks to have a little build to him as well. Isn't that Bernard for the other team at rb?
  19. One can only hope. I really think Enunwa can make an immediate impact next year. This is def. one guy we need to keep.
  20. Scout has an article that hints at him being solid but wants to see the offense open it up a bit. Could this bowl game be an audition for our offense? I'm not saying a W isn't important but our D is so good that we can be put in holes every now and then, so a sacrifice of a wide open offense to save a few recruits might not be the worst thing in the world. I know the power run game got us to the Big 12 CG but this might be a good time to let the ball fly.
  21. This is just getting flat out ridiculous.
  22. HI reported that we sent every member of the defensive staff besides one. Sounds like he is the top priority for this class regardless of position. I don't have an account but I don't recall any other player getting the house thrown at them.
  23. I agree I would be a lot less upset if we did end up getting a commit from Harris, Wright, Lucas or Reese. Maybe we have a silent commit out of one so far or something. But like I said in a prior post we have taken less athletic kids before to get another recruit so why not do the same thing with Hill even if we do have other options?
  24. Knappl I don't know if I consider one solid backup to probable starters David, Compton and Fisher solid depth. If you can name me two quality LB's for backups at each LB position then I can see your point but pointing out one true frosh that was a terror on ST and didnt even play in the base or nickel doesn't really prove to me anything. I am saying he is a hell of a talent. I'm not doubting what has been said about his lack of work ethic and no I don't want people like that on the team. However, there can be no debate on him being a hell of a talent, one that again has left the program for a multitude of reasons. I'm more coming from last year when Compton and Fisher were redshirts but when you have to insert Holt or May and we were already playing Wortman somethings wrong. In the last two years we have lost four star Lawrence to injury, four star Dillard to graduation and four star Williams left the program all while gaining a very good four star juco and a three star high schooler. That's just at the LB spot and not even considering decommits.
  25. That's one thing I also really don't understand. Ya we might have better targets at WR that they may feel good about getting. However, in 08' we took Mason Wald which has been said numerous times that we took him to get Justin Rodgers more than anything. Is anyone telling me that they can't take Austin Hill, someone who could have had ten times more impact on our team than Wald, to have a much better chance with Aaron Green? I know we are in a schollie crunch year but he is a solid prospect at a position of need and will greatly help us next year with an elite prospect at a position of huge need. What am I missing?
