  1. K well if you scroll up I tried to be the voice of reason a while ago. You all know my views and I know yours, so there it is.
  2. 951huskers, is this your thread, the almighty god of football? Sorry I didnt know that everyone had to come through you. I would think that since youre such an expert you would be doing some coaching of your own, getting ready for the offseason, or something worth your time and not posting on a board that has zero effect on anything. As a matter of fact since you do think that shanle was good you obviously have zero brains anyway, as a result I dont want to talk to you anyway so keep you worthless opinions to yourself.
  3. No capp doesnt suck bc he has an accurate judgement, I think 951huskers sucks.
  4. Well yes It was directly shanles fault that the fake punt didnt work. Im not saying that we should have run it, but it would have been a first down and much more than that had he caught the ball. So yes it was his fault. I said I thought Pelini was a fantastic d-coordinator and I think he is much better than coz. That was the reason our d was so good in 03. So here is the deal, since we will never agree on shanle Ill say that if our defense is not drastically improved next year than I will agree with you that there need to be some changes on the coaching front. With that said I will never think that ALL or MOST of the defensive meltdowns were coz's fault this year. We will have to wait and see what he can do next year.
  5. I absolutely agree and I am excited as can be about the future, particularly next year. I think he is exactly what nebraska needs to get back up to the top.
  6. Ok I just want to say that I would absolutley love to have Pelini back. I thought he was an outstanding d-coordinator who had fire and brains. I also am taking a argumentation and debate class this semester, so I guess that worked out well. It might have been said, but the class with bullocks and washington went through three d-coordinators in three years I believe, how are you magically supposed to be great the with a new one. I know they were magically under Pelini and I already said I wish we had him back. I am not blaming everything on shanle. I think he had a lot to do with not being able to blitz, and do stuntz because he knew that we would not be able to get to the qb in time without giving up a bunch of yards through the air. I am not sure Coz is the answer either. I am saying that it has been three years and there are going to be players in his system now for three years or at least two. I have no idea why they would leave him in either, the only response I have for that is there just couldnt have been anyone to put in besides him that knew the defense. Again how can you put someone at linebacker if he cant tackle. He wouldnt hit someone who was stretched out, defenseless coming across his zone. How do you expect him to take on Jorvorski Lane coming at him untouched. I can MAYBE see corner because I think he does have good speed, however I really dont think he would have been any better there. Like I said, we will have to wait till next year when he has some athletes in the secondary, notably Asante, I think he is going to be great. Maybe the coaches arent the best, however I will still never change my opinion about shanle. The picks he had this year, he might have well just been picked up and told to stand in that position, looks like the coaches did a pretty good job on those plays. Could it be possible that he just has no football instinct and goes just exactly where the coaches tell him to go and does nothing on his own. Thats what makes all footall players great is the fact that they can make things happen on their own. He without a doubt doesnt have that.
  7. Well if you scroll up that is what I said I dont understand and more than likely this post has drug on for as long as it has. I said if we were going to do a fake punt, which would have gone for a lot of yards, but in the end we should have just punted, we should have done it with people that are used to having the ball, or a little more athletic, maybe run it with the guy on the other side of the punt team. Coz doesnt suck and I would have loved to hear what you guys were saying about him last year when his defense led the nation in sacks and tackles for loss. Is a coincidence that we lost Bowman, Teitke, and Bullocks with the rest of the team coming back and the defense was that much worse. Why was the pass defense so bad this year and the way it was last year? Your telling me that Bullocks and Bowman were that good that they could just transform the defense from leading the nation to cant stop anyone against the pass? Is it at all possible that Teitke was better than people thought and shanle is as bad as I say he is. Believe me, I am not the only person who thinks like this. Everyone who I have talked to besides maybe three of you on here thinks shanle is also the worst we have had in a while. According to what you guys are saying since we get Bowman back next year we are just going to be great, I sure wish we had shanle back since he was so good. This is going nowhere, Ill just take your opinion that he is great and the coaches suck and I will most defenately keep my opinion on Shanle is far and away the worst defensive back nebraska has ever, ever, ever had. Live with it, its my opinion and I will never, ever, ever change it. I guess we will all see, including the people on here who think shanle is good that with the people playing next year how bad shanle actually was this year. Heres to the future!! (thank god its without shanle)
  8. So its the coaches fualt that shanle is ALWAYS trailing the play? Im glad you finally agree with me that yes shanle did screw up almost every play. Dont you get taught in junior high if youre the safety nothing gets behind you. Looks like he not only got worse athletically but also got dumber from freshman to senior year. The reason Carriker didnt have the kind of year he had last year was because coz wasnt able to blitz as much as he did last year bc he was always having to keep people back to save shanles butt. Tell me why if he is so good then why when he was healthy last year did he not start in front of teitke? The coaches said that they just thought teitke stepped up his game. Stepped up his game past shanle isnt hard to beat tho. It sure seemed to me that teitke was able to make it over in time to knock away a crucial pass in the alamo bowl last year. The coaches had him in position the year before. Is that a coincidence? There werent near as many missed tackles, getting beat deep, and teitke would also hit you if you came into his zone, unlike the ferry we had playing the position this year. Give it up its not the coaches fualt, Shanle sucks!!! I dont know why you cant see that, he made our defense so much worse that I cant even put it into words. With any sort of capable back up shanle would not have played this year. I would love for you to sit down and watch the games again this year and see how many times shanle missed a tackle or screwed up in the many ways he did this year. Not because of the coaches, but because he just plain sucks!!
  9. Wallace Franklin wont be joining this years class due to grades. In my opinion I am kinda glad to see this, we have a ton of receivers and some very good young ones coming up. The last thing we need is a average junior receiver taking up a spot who we could have given to Patin, Amie, or Peters. Now we might have room for two more of those. Im personally pulling for Amie and Patin but all three would be great. A threat at tight end would do wonders to this offense. Its just nobody sees it bc we dont have one right now. We need a quality inside linebacker for this class with two outside linebackers already on board. We have something like 10 d-line commits already and three of them are d-ends, sounds like crick blew it up at the all star game, i think Yancy will be a good one, and Grant may be the same mold as Barry Turner. But if Peters wants to come here that would be fantastic.
  10. Well how does someone become a worse tackeler? Shanle missed tackles this year that were one on one several times that either led to touchdowns or was a touchdown on that play. Let alone him not hitting someone that should have been layed out. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he got hurt last year. I have on idea, maybe he was the only person at his position the coaches felt comfortable with knowing the plays. Even if he knew the plays he was still the most unathletic db nebraska has ever had and I will never think otherwise, that is unless someone proves me wrong which would take a whole lot (players on the field) Maybe he lost a lot of his confidence. Ill agree with you that I dont think the db coaches are the greatest but watching shanle this year was disgusting.
  11. WOW!!! I just checked on huskersillustrated and they have an article on him about how he committed. This is a HUGE pickup. Great run stopper and definately someone that we need. Something like a 360 lb bench max and a 610 lb squat. One of my friends can lift that much, you know who you are.
  12. If that was a joke its not funny at all. If it was serious then thats fantastic and another key player who I wasnt sure if we were going to get. The linemen in this class look great with Grant, Crick, Townsend, Barfield, Perry, Yancy, Davis and some others that I might be forgetting. They are just stockpiling the d-line.
  13. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA well thats the first time I have ever heard that shanle flew to the ball!!! I needed a good laugh, school started this week and I was kinda down, so thanks that helped. Even if he did fly to the ball (which he didnt) he should have some momentum coming up on the ball carriers hes a safety. Capp makes a great example of the okie st. game, and there are several more of HIM making mistakes. I see you failed recognize my point of the PLAYERS saying the COACHES had great gameplans and on film you could see they were out of position. Thats ok you can ignore that point. If a 20 year old kid doesnt want to take the blame for what HE is doing then dont play college athletics. That was the most ridiculous statement. These kids arent just kids, some of them are on their way to becoming more rich than more than likely any of us will ever be in our lifetime. As for shanle he never had to worry about that happening to him, even if he was a finely tuned machine as a freshman, which I doubt he ever was.
  14. From what I understand Cole wants to play defense and I think we are recruiting him to play wide receiver. It would be great to offer him as a db though. That would give us potentially five four star dbs in this class with Ross, Asante, Cole, Murillo, and possibly Washington, with the potential for a five star or two. Talk about depth while developing Blue, Sullivan, West among some others that might rise above the pack unexpectidly.
  15. Ok well he obviously didnt almost die...that was taking it a bit far....but did you see the hits he took this year alone....and that was nothing compared to last year or the spring practice his first year when coaches even said he would take hit after hit after hit and just keep getting back up
  16. So does the fact that the players will stand up and say that the coaches had a good gameplan and the players were out of position and/or just didnt make plays when they were there mean anything to you? About shanle being a linebacker....that makes a lot of sense to put someone at linebacker who cant tackle any better than a 7th grader at linebacker.....people are whining about rudds inability to lay someone out? Shanle had the opportunity to take peoples heads off this year when they were extended for a pass and he either would arm tackle them or just run by the them....if you think that didnt happen this year a lot of times then you didnt watch the games. Im not even sure that he played linebacker you might be thinking of his brother....but I could be wrong....and you might even be wrong about him playing nickel bc from what I can remember we either had rickets, mchperson or washington in there for the longest time.....once again not sure though....I am sure that he flat out sucked this year and I thank the football gods that he is gone...when asante or culbert maybe thenarse start next year in the position that he so pathetically held down this year...yes you will finally realize that he is.....you know the story.
  17. Yes they won that last game for him, who cares? All of the players have said that they love Callahan and the other coaches. Yes callahan can bring them in here and the ones that dont want to be here can go to NC St. If you dont want to compete then dont plan on playing college ball let alone a shot in the nfl. that was just a ridiculous comment. You think the players that are going to usc and texas and ohio st. and all these other places who have all-americans every year look at them and say oh well ill go there bc i wont have to compete. Im sure thats what matt leinart said when he saw Carson Palmer there. Im sure that is what Jimmy Clausen said when he saw two four star qb's from last years class on notre dames roster. Give that point up, if youre good enough to play then youre good enough to play. As far as returning talent this is the most talent Nebraska has had in a long time. Especially at the skill positions. Im sorry that Solich inherited a group that just won the National Championship and Callahan inherited a group of people that were recruited to run the exact opposite of the west coast offense. Callahan won as many games as solich did in his last year, totally restructuring the offense and bringing in TOTALLY different personnel. Maybe Zac Taylor didnt deserve the Big 12 poy but I respect the hell out of him and he almost literally gave his life for Nebraska football. I love the guy, is the most athletic? Nope, but he saved Nebraska football and more than likely he saved Bill Callahan.
  18. In response to skersfan, I agree with you somewhat. You cant tell me that Suh, Carriker, Moore, Bradley, Bowmann, Purify, Lucky, Jackson, Glenn, Wilson, Dugunduro, Cryer, and maybe Mceon would not play at a lot of other colleges. The reason that may be so low is the exact reason that Solich got fired, because he was severely dipping in recruiting. That was one of the last classes solich ever had and what players were his? Carriker, Moore, Bradley, and maybe Mceon. Four people out of the whole team? Now look at the people that we are bringing in. Holt, Henry, Paul, Asante, Lee, Castille, Ross, Washington, Townsand, Lewis, Lawrence, Potter, Turner, Thenarse, Murillo, the list goes on I just dont want to put anymore down. To end this class with the way it is looking right now we will have about 12 four stars and 1 five star with the rest three star. Some of the three stars are right on the edge of getting another star and i think Paul gets bumped up. That is a good class, not good enough to be the number one but solid either way. That is two out of the three years that callahan has been here that we'll be in the top ten and the other one was 20 I believe that filled a lot of needs. I think you can win being in the top ten as long as your coaches know how to spot talent and know what is best for the team. Its not like the ten best college players are going to be the top ten rivals in rivals 100.
  19. Huskerhank is right, I graduated from the same high school he is from in 2002 and people are saying the same thing. He is lazy, not strong, hes a cupcake who doesnt like to hit and very imobile. Actually one of the my other friends who was also a lineman from my school who went to nebraska said it made him feel like less of a lineman since they offered shulte. I also heard he is dumb as a rock. This kid is certainly being offered on potential alone.
  20. Californiahusker or whatever your name is......Shanle never played on defense from what i can remember untill this year....i think you are referring to the fact that he was flying around on special teams.....so was thenarse.....so was rigoni......we should have played rigoni this year........and yes he is the worst defensive back nebraska has ever, ever, ever had.....not attacking him i dont doubt his dedication to the team or his effort, some have more ability than others and athletically yes he is the worst.....sorry to burst your bubble.
  21. Totally agree, I think if anything he will put in some more bootlegs so if everyone is covered he can make something happen with his legs. In my opinion the west coast offense has everything. You can pound the ball, inside or outside, swing passes, you can do short passes all the way down the field, intermediate passes, and then like sometimes we saw this year we can go deep. In my opinion I think the west coast offense is the most effective offense there is. That is of course when the team is doing what theyre supposed to be doing. A lot of times this year I think we tried to go deep but something always happened, either pass pro broke down or the receiver couldnt get off the line fast enough, didnt run a good route, whatever it was, but we tried. The most recent memory was hardy tried to run an out and up in the cotton bowl and pass pro broke down in about two seconds.
  22. Ya I certainly think our o-line is going to be a lot better next year and is looking really good for years to come. Callahan is bringing in really good talent, size, and athleticism. It helped that the young guys were just kinda thrown in there. We will have Williams, Burkes, Barret, Jones, Marcel, (last name?) Hickman, Christenson, Huff, and Roark. That is one hell of an offensive line as far as talent goes. Im talkin about the far future not just next year. The last five recruits nebraska have got have been outstanding and i look forward to see what they will do next year.
  23. I think its just a matter of getting the type of players that fit your system. Just because there is a five star running back that ways 240 pounds but he doesnt fit your offense then why take him. I guess maybe to move him around somewhere but you get the point. That is what callahan is doing. I also think you have to look at the region or competition your recruit is playing in. Solich was recruiting all these guys from Nebraska who were three star guys. Now callahan is recruiting all these guys from texas and cali that are three star guys, for backup recruits, of course he going after the best talent in the nation. The competition is just so much better there as a whole that more often than not a three star guy is going to be a little better in my opinion than a guy from nebraska.
  24. I am also so psyched to see the young players and the newcomers out there as well. I think Asante is the real deal, I was watching some film on him and he just flies around and knocks people around. I think Murillo is going to be a fine addition as well and may start since he is going to be here in the spring. Love the fact that Dillard and Bowmann will be back next year. It will also be exciting to see how players such as Thenarse, Culbert, Young, West, Washington, Ross, Lewis, Blue, Sullivan and Lawrence will step up next season. I think Anthony West was supposed to challenge for some playing time before he was hurt.
  25. Losing a receiver like Jarret is never good. However they will just move the former number one overall player in the nation Patrick Turner over to number one and then still have a solid former five star receiver in Vidal Hazelton at the two then probably have former four star wide receiver David Ausberry at the third wide receiver. I dont know who else you guys have that would just be my guess. I have always wondered how the USC's and Texas' keep getting players like this. They have all-americans after all-americans. Kids are willing to go to some of these places knowing they are not going to play for maybe three years and that is ok with them. Then when it comes to a place like nebraska where they could start right away they say things like there is too much depth there. I just dont understand it, we are still a presigious program on the rise.
