  1. except for the opening pot shots, i thought it was a very thoughtful outlook from an outsiders position. i like the part where he says total domination of the North is the only thing acceptable from here on out. they know we're getting better and that we are the team to beat in our division; and that even on a national level, we should have won a few games we didn't. the thing i like the best, though, is how everyone...all teams' fans' come to our site and talk about our team. they know just as much about us as they do their own school. they know our records, stats, players, tradition, and fanbase. so much respect. so much. it doesn't bother me that someone writes a well-informed opinion and even makes fun of us by ripping cartoons. trust me, i spend a LOT of time in texas, and the people there are much worse. i dislike mark may more than this guy cuz at least he based his assesment on fact instead of some emotional bias.
  2. the thing that frustrates me is that analysts are not supposed to inject much, if any, emotion into their prognosis. however, it seems May does that all the time. not only with dissing NU. he does it for other players he has a hard-on for. if there is a little hype about someone or a negative opinion out there, it's like it gets him all giddy and he just jumps on some bandwagon. during the segment he talks about keller not playing since oct of 05', and emotionally drains himself with his FEELING of how sam will play. instead, he should have said, "it will be interesting to see how Keller plays and shakes off the rust. but given his past performances and numbers, combined with Callahan's offense, it could be exciting. remeber, Big XII fans, Zac Taylor was the offensive player of the year and by all accounts; Keller has more tools." now THAT sounds like an analysis based on fact not feeling. besides that, he didn't really answer the question--he started dogging Cally instead of giving his take on the team and the QB race. normally i don't get upset about this crap at all, but May just keeps sliding further and further down as an analyst who doesn't really "report." he just gives his emoted opinion. at least when Holz or Trev was there they provided balance.
  3. what do you mean what?? check out the article about the DB's and see what the coach are saying about murillo...that's what.
  4. jake sharp from salina, ks might actually surprise a few this year, if he can handle the pounding. extremely fast, i mean, fast...especially for a white boy. and will run through a wall. but he might be their only home run threat on offense so it won't matter.
  5. new article on DB's today...absolutely the toughest position, skill and technique wise on the field. deion sanders, charles woodson, champ bailey...that's why these guys are remembered--cuz they are in some rarified air!!
  6. true shut down corners are very rare. so the ability to not give up big plays and stop the opponent on medium yardage is KEY. they gave up 9 for 40 (40!!) yds or more? that's a lot. what about the REAL daggers--9-16yds on 2nd and 3rd & long for 1st downs. Big XII title game, anyone? this article actually scares me more than reassures me. if bowman doesn't come back stronger than before, (and he might not even be the answer) our senior linebackers and revamped d-lne won't mean squat. DB's--still the biggest ??'s on our team.
  7. i like ganzs' attitude. reminds of dukes and beck. oh...wait. no, it doesn't.

how is he handling practicing knowing he won't play the first game? any news if he is just staying quiet, or is he being a vocal leader or otherwise? will he come out humbled or with a chip on his shoulder ready to prove Cally didn't make the wrong choice? is he getting reps with the 1's or are they playing the guys who will be there? i've read all the articles on him, but haven't heard much since camp started. any news would be great.
  9. mark 'it's my thyroid' mangino. you know they made this prediction to piss us off for the herbstreit breakdown about the greatest ever.
  10. prince will get his mouth shut for him. it's fall camp right now and players arent' really hitting yet. wait a couple weeks when the FULL contact and scrimmages are going on. when he gets way-layed by a crackback or gets burned by tightend or something. that will shut him up. unless of course...he is the real deal and can walk the walk. then he can talk all he wants as fas as i'm concerned. we just may need some young brash bad ass who doesn't give a sh#t who Limas Sweed is and goes and shuts him down.
  11. i do not want them to pigeon hole him into the 'short yardage' back. i think we wasted an entire year of watching cody glenn waltz in from 2 yards out cuz he was a 'short yardage' back, but not get good carries from other parts of the field. if this kid has this much potential, and he's going to burn a redshirt, then give him some quality meaningful carries throughtout the whole game. this is one aspect of Cally's WCO that frustrates me at times. if it is SO f'ing complicated that we can't have our best players on the field to do what they do so naturally easy, then maybe we should put them in and just slam the ball home sometimes. simply KISS...Keep It Simple, Stupid!! but man, if he remembers LP and compares his own running style to him, then i'm all for getting him some good looks this year.
  12. true, i guess that's why CU could lose all their games, but if they beat us it was all that mattered. i guess basically in my lifetime i've never had to deal with the skers being really bad for even more than 2-3 year. so i just wonder if teams fans' can have real optimism. but i guess they probably have realistic expectations for their team.
  13. do all fans of their teams feel a REAL sense of optimism entering the season....i think we actually have a real chance at some big things this year, especially with the tough schedule. i mean, you can't tell me KU, REALLY thinks they are going to be some kind of dark horse...i realize to be a fan of a team (even k-state) you look forward to a new year cuz everyone starts 0-0, but i look at this board and follow the spring and fall camps and think we have a good as shot as anyone. so, is it just us because we friggin rock, or do you think all fans have true optimism?
  14. anyone still think it's foolish for SC to have 9 5 star running backs? now we have to have a freshman and a dude who played safety practice for us this week. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH GOOD RUNNING BACKS. IT IS AWESOME THAT WE HAVE WITT, GABBERT, LEE, ETC... one or two injuries and BAM...i'm glad they've had culbert back there since the cotton bowl or we'd be hurting.
  15. so, pooh bear. it's too early to make a prediction on the grades of our players during PREseason, however, it's not too late to emphatically say, "i would would chalk up 2 loses" ?? dude, you're a negative nelly!!
  16. dude that pic is hilarious. i'm glad another team in this country hates OU as bad as we do!! also glad a little of the North v. South is picking up again with us getting better each year and you guys winning a NC after almost 40 years. i think a key to victory will be our front 7 on defense. if we can contain the run and put some pressure on your passer it will make a huge difference. last year, late in the game charles was ripping off some good, time consuming runs. for you guys, the big play always hurts us. if you guys have some deep passes, it spells trouble for us.
  17. i was thinking of HOW they announce the games. not so much ABOUT our past. a LOT of the announcers butcher our players names, invoke a style of offense that hasn't been here in 4 years, and don't give enough props for how far we've come, etc... they can talk about our championships and stuff all they want, i love that. i just can't stand how they don't report up to the times.
  18. cool, i would like to see some big things out of him this year damn, we have some serious depth at LB!!
  19. has he purposely been flying under the radar? because he got a lot of hype coming in and has suffered some injuries and growing pains. i hadn't heard anything about him, i thought he may have transfered. is a junior this year or did he have a redshirt last year?
  20. am i lost...or has there not been a lot of news on him? tell me what's up
  21. i think having this game on national tv and with a win--well, that my friends, would pull some recruits.
  22. the bucs brought in taylor as a favor to cally. no offense guys, but taylor's phsyical skills left A LOT to be desired. that's why beck left, because he knew he had more talent but as we now know, he lacked any toughness. now, taylor's heart and his determination and leadership made up for his lack of speed and height and arm strength. without him, the Huskers would have been in a deep hole for a longer time. anyway...we haven't had an outstanding tight end threat in a long time. this is yet another piece of the puzzle that BC has hopefully brought in which makes me so excited for this season. especially with keller's ability to spread the ball downfield.
  23. maybe culbert doesn't have the TRUE footwork to play DB? Prince even said the coaches told him CB the most athletic position on the field...and it is!! the RB coach said he likes culbert's 'junk in the trunk'....how many corners do you know that are shaped 'squat-like' NONE!! if he was going to contribute the most and best @ DB then the coaches would have him there. the truth is, non of our RB's have showed they can grind week in, week out in the Big XII. we need to find out who is going to be the MAN. even jackson was riding pine last year for awhile and STILL got hurt and he's in the pro's. i trust the coaches decision to put culbert @ RB and think all the freshman should redshirt. except Prince if he will star on special teams.
  24. i think the transition for players is really tough too. although if lucky, glenn, some of the o-linemen we hear about really struggling as frosh; well, i think it was because they didn't have anyone that'd been in the system like we do now. now, the upperclassmen have been here a few years they can mentor and tutor the younger guys. sometimes the coaches can explain things 17 times but another player can teach someone his own age and position by showing and leading by example as well. that's why i think this program is really ready to turn the corner.
