  1. Wow, you completely can't come up with a response, links, or information, so you make your own leap in logic to create an ad hominem? Oh well, at least someone has a good sig line. Just make sure they give you proper credit, m'kay?
  2. You need to label this stuff NSFW. Umm, you clicked on what was obviously a You Tube link. If you don't expect a modicum (or more) of swearing when clicking on the link, you're not really using common sense. And last time I checked, one can mute their PC or plug headphones in.
  3. So, is that a "yes"? A yes to what? The unsubstantiated red herring you pulled out in a failed attempt to vilify me? The obvious (well, maybe not to you) leaps in logic you make to associate groups to help justify your ignorance and hatred? There's so much derp in your post, it's hard to know where the derp ends and the question begins. Honestly, if you have to process politics in absolutes and make unsubstantiated leaps in logic to support your myopic, extreme views, I pity you.
  4. For those of us new to the site... what is "derp"? That's a way to call someone stupid without violating the terms of use of this and most other websites. No, it's not. Again, use the links provided, but that assumes you can read and process information that doesn't come from a Fox News-sanctioned website. http://www.urbandict...rp&defid=134579 "A simple, undefined reply when an ignorant comment or action is made." Ignorance /=/ stupidity. Contrary to what Fox News tells you, words mean things.
  5. For those of us new to the site... what is "derp"? http://knowyourmeme....rp#.TsFmcFZU1I4 Thanks, I get it now. For example: The Tea Derps were confused into thinking they were protesting for the common good, but instead were suckered into whoring for the interest of large corporations who wanted to pay even less taxes and do away with pesky regulations. Good. I would go for the pejorative 'derp 'baggers' so you can get two into one. Of course, we only use these when you're dealing with people that are simply regurgitating talking points and can't come up with any sort of critical analysis of their own. If someone actually uses common sense, uses sources that don't link to an obviously slanted and biased news source, and that doesn't discuss the whole of politics in absolutes, then you probably should hold off on the term 'derp'. But considering how the 'Pedia castaways are derping up the board, I would say it's socially appropriate unless a mod tells you otherwise.

  7. Let me make sure I got this right. OWS: Endorsed by the KKK, Iran, Neo-Nazis. Paricipitants are guilty of assault, rape (special bonus: women and men), illegal drug use and dealing, violence, rioting, and open anti-Semitism. They try to coerce women into not reporting sexual assaults to the police. They want to destroy capitalism, favor socialism, and they also like to destroy property and defecate on those things they do not like. Tea Party: Want lower taxes and smaller Government. And you "despise" the politics of the Tea Party. And the award for the "Best Regurgitation of a Right-Wing Propaganda Story as Fact" goes to... Seriously--before your morning constitutional, do you check to make sure that Glenn Beck approves? And how many ignorant, false email chains are you required to forward to everyone in our Outlook contact book daily, lest they kick out out of the Tea Party? 3? 5? 10? What's pathetic about Tea Party supporters is that they don't realize they're being duped by the largest astroturf movement ever. It's a blatant cash grab by two rich white people that were brainwashed by an abusive father and forcefed Ayn Rand until they believed her prattle was actually valuable social commentary and political policy (neither of which is true, as it was laughed out of the popular discourse during, of all things, a Dwight D. Eisenhower presidency *and* both a Republican and (eventually) Democratic Congress. I'm Republican, but the current state of affairs disgusts me. The Tea Party, people like Beck, Bachmann, Perry, Cain, Palin--they're all vermin, preying on the ignorance of an aging baby boomer class that realized that they, themselves, helped **** up what was supposed to be the twilight of their years--hence the blatant cash grab and unabashed regurgitation of some of the most inane talking points--with no regard to the future of our Country or the impact their ignorance is causing now (see our crumbling infrastructure, Vermont rebuilding). The best hope of a Republican win against Obama was McCain, and the derp-filled 'baggers saddled him with the half-wit Palin. No one in the current field has a chance of winning, as the status quo will saddle someone like Romney with a derp-filled idiot like Bachmann, Cain, or Perry, and people will be scared to turn over the keys to the world's biggest military and most significant economy to people that diplomacy is for the weak and that stagnation and unilateral action are always acceptable as long as the end justifies the means. Pathetic. So, you too prefer the KKK, Neo-Nazis, assault, rape, illegal drug use and dealing, violence, rioting, and open anti-Semitism to smaller Government and lower taxes? Otherwise why would you spout the MSNBC talking points so eloquently. Well, that makes sense since the Democrats are the party of the Klan and Bill Clinton is the poster-child for rape and assault, particularly in a Government setting (double bonus - at both the state and federal level), and open anti-Semitism. And thanks for proving my point in its entirety. Isn't it just adorable how the unintelligent have to make everything black and white and add in moral absolutes so they can codify, process, and refute.

  10. You apparently missed the day of English class when you only use plural nouns in the event that there are more than one of something. There's only been one report of a runaway, here in Dallas, and she's been a habitual runaway. I fail to see how that translates into 'reports' of 'runaways', but then again, I don't regurgitate derp from partisan news sites.
  11. What the **** does this have to do with Congress being able to legally engage in insider trading?
  12. It's a brand-new engine started in c.2008-2009. That's probably why. Still, looks better than Oblivion and Fallout 3/NV did. Can't wait to see what they tweak visually for Fallout 4 when they reuse the engine.
  13. The loss honestly sucks, and I feel bad for the kids. But as stated here before, the kids came out flat, and they had enough talent to out-muscle and out-play Northwestern at home in Lincoln, regardless of preparation. And I still don't fault Bo and the staff for looking ahead--considering who we play back-to-back (to back if you include Iowa), you need any chance to look ahead that's afforded to you. It was a calculated risk that (so far) hasn't paid off, and is looking like it won't. Oh well--we win out, we get a possible BCS bid and a chance to play Oklahoma a lot sooner than we thought we would. Sometimes the best things in life are born from the mistakes we make--a doozy of an OU/NU game would certainly make us forget about that Northwestern loss, right?
  14. Nebraskaart, I don't think it's insensitive to think that...maybe too soon, but not insensitive. And both Nebraska and Bo Pelini are coming out smelling like roses from this. No one remembers the 2010 A&M/Big XII screwjob debacle--everyone remembers how a coach eloquently summed up the feelings and emotions of this horrible situation from an outsider that was let into the situation simply due to the luck of the schedule.
  15. Congrats to Brett Maher and our staff and program. If anything, this bodes well for our recruiting of skill/special team positions in the future. While it's not in your face like a receiver or running back are, kickers are an integral part of a successful team. A school that understands that and has fans that cheer that will endear itself to the best kickers/punters in the land, and it can only make us better in the future.
  16. So we're in agreement that our best offensive lineman is a walk-on that doesn't even have a scholarship? I'm not complaining, as Choi is an excellent player that I'm glad came on when he did. But isn't this ultimately an indictment of Barney's ability to successfully coach and recruit that position?
  17. I don't get why people keep comparing this to the Solich/Bo and Dr. Tom's last day of coaching--in both those instances, the teams had the better part of a month to cycle through emotions/grief, prepare for the game, and get mentally square. These kids at Penn State just found out their (figurehead) coach was gone Wednesday, and the media has been badgering players since Monday PM/Tuesday AM on this. These coaches are just as worried about their own bacon (especially if they know something) as they are getting ready for DoNU. These kids are seeing riots on their campus and their coaches being remotely involved with and covering up for alleged pedophiles. All in three to four days time. Penn State may play above their station for a quarter, maybe almost a half, because of emotion and a 'win one for the gipper' mentality. But emotion comes in waves, and with every peak, there's a valley, and that valley is likely to come and come hard when their lack of preparation meets their mental and emotional exhaustion in the second half of the game. Plus, don't forget that 1) Penn State can drop a game, be the front runner of the Leaders, and *still* drop one more game, and 2) they still have tOSU and Wisconsin on deck. Don't tell me that Penn State hasn't been looking ahead to Wisky and tOSU this week (if they've looked or prepared for anything) as those two games are vastly more important than this one.
  18. This, but don't forget there's another regents meeting this morning with an open public forum portion. The regents have said they are not done looking into this, and that they'll let more people go if necessary. If they're truly going to clean house to remove any trace of culpability when the criminal and civil suits start to fly, any and all that were remotely tainted by this need to go. McQueary could be on the chopping block, and the 'non-attendance' and 'death threats' could be a simple ruse to keep him away while they determine his fate.
  19. Sandusky wasn't an employee of Penn State when he was caught with the boy--he was with Second Mile. And no, if you're responsible for the program like Joe Pa, it's your duty to follow-up with the AD and ask what ever became of what you reported, especially considering the seriousness of it.
  20. I am sick and tired of this line from Bo and company. How many years in a row will they overlook an opponent and lose (ISU or TxTech 2009) or almost lose (SDSU last year)? Enough is enough. Once or twice in a coach's early career is understandable, but after that it should be a wake up call. You can't take a week off, there are no "gimme" games in college football. Anyone can beat anyone on any given Saturday. Winners don't make excuses, they make plays. It was patently obvious neither the coaches nor the players were interested in that game last week. I agree, Richard, that this refrain is getting awfully tired. We have overlooked or prepared poorly for WAY too many opponents. Bo needs to get this fixed, and now. It starts between his ears. I don't think it was a flaw in coaching, insomuch that it was a calculated risk, considering our schedule has two Top 20 teams back-to-back. Players said they were looking ahead to PSU (and likely Michigan) during Northwestern week. The risk didn't pan out so far, but it may during the long play if we win out and make it to the title game. Not saying it's right--just that I can understand the mindset and why he would roll the dice on that.
  21. Yup, and even the guys on the Big Ten Network said it was too little. The only damaging thing done is that tOSU was slapped with the 'failure to monitor' label by the NCAA. That doesn't bode well for whatever punishment the NCAA cooks up for tOSU down the road.
  22. Apparently you didn't read the post. The federal government does provide money for the local roads you drive on and the local emergency and law enforcement services you enjoy today. Many of the country roads, bridges, and city streets have been put in place with federal money. Hell--I would hope you've been to Nebraska--the WPA roads that are still in place today in many of the smaller NE cities were built with federal funds. Federal money has been appropriated for all level of road projects--federal, state, county, and city, and will continue to happen, regardless of your level of comprehension and understanding. And the two best things that could fiscally happen for this country are that we get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and that we let the Bush Tax Cuts expire. Hell, inaction on extending the Bush Tax Cuts would, at current spending levels, return us to having a surplus by 2014--that's how damaging and short-sighted these tax cuts are. and where do you get this information from. Most localities around here repair local streets. Show me some proof where the fed comes in. And Teachers, police and firefighters get paid by the local municipality & state around here. They may get some grants but that isn't paying their salaries on a consistent basis. And they sure as heck don't put any money into their pension plans that are choking small towns and cities. Seriously--are you perhaps one of the most successful derp-trolls this side of the internet? http://www.nola.com/..._more_reco.html http://www.cityofsha...CurrentProjects http://timesfreepres...oney-build-bik/ http://www.heraldnew...ighway-projects http://www.wickedloc...s#axzz1dKYhVPrO http://hamptonroads....ing-out-schools http://www.economist.com/node/18620944 http://canton-mi.pat...t-federal-money http://www.kcet.org/...-the-river.html The federal money the state, county, and city/municipal districts get is, many times, either the bulk or the entirety of the funds being used for the projects. Just because the check for these workers comes from a local entity, that doesn't mean that's where the money for the project comes from--that's the type of linear, simplistic thought process that is holding us back as a nation. Your comment was "The fed govt doesn't pay for local roads." That is wrong, as they do, sometimes lock, stock, and barrel even. You stated "Police and fire fighters are paid by the town or municipality. Where are the fed funds she is talking about?" The federal government routinely provides money by way of project grants to hire additional officers, or to help cities maintain current staffing levels. The City of Dallas, as a case-in-point, required federal money to maintain their staffing levels. And I've worked at and helped elected officials at the city level, both pre- and post-election--while the majority of money comes from local sources, the majority of cities in the United States would fold up and declare bankruptcy if they lose their state and federal funds. States would fold up if they lost their federal funds. There are many nuanced strata to federal, state, and city/municipal budgets--it's never linear or simple, much to the chagrin of those that want it to be for their own intellectual benefit. --- And to get back on topic, it's pretty obvious that Elizabeth Warren knows much more about economics than Ron Paul or anyone else in this thread, as the hate and vitriol spewed from dubious "news" sources screams cowardice and an unwillingness to meet her head on about the issues, for fear of losing handily.
  23. Has anyone considered the irony that we've got people derping on Al Franken via an internet message board...while Al Franken fights off the so-called Net Neutrality attempts that would ultimately restrict access and traffic to these very same message boards? It's just sad. Not Penn State sad, but sad.
