  1. I've been saying for years now that Mack Brown is the most overrated coach in college football. I like our chances so much more if we were to play Texas in the big 12 championship instead of Oklahoma. I can't wait for the day when Will Muschamp takes over in Austin. They'll be a force to be reckoned with, and a Pelini vs Muschamp game would probably end up being 10-7.
  2. Man, it'd be so sweet to go into Missouri and snag Gabbert, Terry, and Hill. If Marquise Hill commits, do our chances with Curtis Carter take a hit?
  3. I voted 30-40%. It would have been 20-30 if this was a prime time night game in Lane Stadium. These are the keys for Nebraska to beat an OVERRATED ACC team that won't be undefeated when we play them. 1) we have to own the turnover margin 2) our front four has to DOMINATE (Clemson?) 3) Zac Lee has to get into some sort of groove 4) don't let Beamer Ball beat us. No safetys or anything related to special teams.
  4. He's still committed to Missouri. Hopefully his visit goes well today.
  5. Why is Curtis Carter skipping his visit here and his camp at OU?
  6. I've been saying for weeks that Curtis Carter would be the biggest get that we have a legitimate shot at landing. Antonio Bell, Keeston Terry, Curtis Carter. Maurice Purify, Nate Swift, Todd Peterson. Don't get me wrong, I love Nate Swift and appreciate everything he did for the program during his 4 years, but come on. The WR's would actually scare people and would possess an actual deep threat. Despite what some are saying on this board, I'm really a big fan of how our recruiting has gone for this 2010 class thus far.
  7. Wow. That hurts about Burkes. I was expecting big things from him when he was healthy again.
  8. If LSU wants him, they'll have him. If not, he's all ours. I'm not liking our chances too much at this point.
  9. Glad to hear he decommitted from So Miss. Sad to hear we aren't in his top three. I really like this kid, and this is the type of CB's I'd like to see in the defensive backfield for the Huskers. 6 ft+, 4.5 speed, and above all....DREADLOCKS!!!
  10. I think we should schedule Minnesota for a home and home. Their new stadium is gorgeous, and I'd love to see us take over Minneapolis like we did last time we went to the DOME. Minnesota is starting to schedule tough non conference opponents, as they have a home with US&C in 2010-11, and another home and home with Texas. If Nebraska came calling, I'm sure that the Gophs would be more than willing to throw down.
  11. Agreed, but it was still a great play, and I'd love to see it on the tunnel walk. That was one of the biggest plays of the 08 season. I MISS NATE SWIFT!!!!!!
  12. I am good to go --- I understand and agree with everything except one point. I have not seen prince Amukamara display the speed you have witnessed for him. You may be right --- perhaps he is that fast, but if so... I have not seen it. Actually, to me if any one guy stands out as being faster than the others it is Dennard. And, as I say, Dennard is maybe... maybe a shade below 4.5. I'd guess that Prince is a shade above 4.5. But who knows. Your point is well taken. Nu is faster than before but is still not what anyone can call fast enough to hang with the big boys. Like other aspects of NU.... it is getting better.... but is still a ways off from where we want to be. I agree with everything you said Robsker. Yes, we are making progress with our defensive speed, and somewhat offensively, but we are nowhere near the level we need to be at to compete at the BCS level.
  13. Think? No it's fact, we have very little speed on both sides of the ball, as it was exposed on the 2008 Huskers. We're starting to get there, and I think Antonio Bell will help with the lack of speed this season, but we still are in desperate need of speedy playmakers on both sides of the ball. Speed is not a problem on both sides of the ball. It's a problem on one side of the ball, offense. On defense right now, we have kids who fly to the ball. Speed is definitely not a problem there. Now if you were talking about more than one kids mental capacity that plays on defense .. Where is this defensive speed you talk about? Is it in our safety's (Asante, Thenarse, O'Hanlon) that are consistently getting burned by TE's from Colorado? Please tell me where is the defensive speed? I haven't seen it. Amukamara hasn't done anything yet, and i'm very concerned with our defensive backs this year, outside of Eric Hagg. He's an absolute stud, and he needs to see the field as a safety this year. Too big a talent to not be starting. Where's this defensive speed? I didn't see it when Missouri was scoring at will at Memorial, or when Oklahoma absolutely burnt us off the field in the first quarter, or when Robert Griffin was dancing his way into the endzone from 50 yards out. If Griffin doesn't injure his ankle in 08, Baylor would've walked out of Memorial with a W. I'm very hopeful for the 2009 Huskers, and yes, I agree that there will be an upgrade in speed from last year, but that isn't saying much. I'm just not ready to say that this team has enough speed, especially on defense. I'm looking for May, Fisher, Compton, and Hagg to step up. Plain and simple, speed is the number one priority when it comes to recruiting for the big red at this point.
  14. Think? No it's fact, we have very little speed on both sides of the ball, as it was exposed on the 2008 Huskers. We're starting to get there, and I think Antonio Bell will help with the lack of speed this season, but we still are in desperate need of speedy playmakers on both sides of the ball.
  15. Really need? No. Would it be nice to sign him? Sure. According to a poster above, Nebraska is Carter's #1 choice right now-which is very nice and I'll be really happy if he signs with the Huskers. However, if we don't sign this kid come February, the sun will still rise and life will go on. No. Armageddon will be amongst us all if Curtis Carter does not sign with the Huskers in February.
  16. Curtis Carter would be one of our biggest gets for this recruiting class. It will continue to be tough for the Huskers to be his top choice. The big boys from the SEC have already come a-knockin', and more schools from the conference will continue to pursue him. I think he realizes the WR depth, or lack thereof, and understands that he could have an opportunity to do some special things for the Big Red, and at a very early time. I know he plays QB for his high school team in Louisiana, but does anyone know if Curtis returns punts and/or kicks?
  17. Nebraska needs to recruit more of these types of recievers, as opposed to the big-bodied, possesion type recievers. Don't get me wrong, a Nate Swift on any recieving core would be great, but they just can't stretch the field and strike fear into opposing defensive coordinators. Curtis Carter can do both
  18. Who really cares about kansas' recruits?
  19. Not getting my hopes up for this guy, he's got a real impressive set of offers. I think 1 WR from Louisiana should be enough for this class.....
  20. We really NEED Curtis Carter, this is the type of offensive playmaker that this offense has needed for years.
  21. Anytime a high school kid draws comparisons to a talent like Tim Tebow, it hurts when you see him commit to a school not named Nebraska. Regardless, Tyler Gabbert is our QB for this class...now let's continue to go to work on Curtis Carter!
  22. I don't think that Bo would ever use this as a pitch (Billy C would've though), but this should be a great recruiting tool for Nebraska. Elite lineman are the toughest positions to recruit in college football, and this could put us over the top for recruiting big time defensive lineman in the 2010 class, and into the 2011 class. Like i said earlier, I don't ever see Bo Pelini telling a high school kid, "Come to Nebraska, and I can make you a top 5 draft pick like I made Glenn Dorsey and Ndamakong Suh." But hopefully kids will take note of this, and realize that Bo has a very special talent in developing defensive lineman.
