  1. Live announcement should be viewable here: http://www.justin.tv/virtualsportsnet#r=m110ciE I'm counting 5 DE's have already signed LOI's, depending on where Rome and Cotton wind up. I hope that doesn't steer Owa away... *pacing nervously
  2. Maybe Mason will continue what's become something of a trend this year for NU and eschew a scholly offer from a smaller school in order to walk-on at NU (Thorson, Maher, Donahue, etc). One way or another, I really hope he winds up N!
  3. For the second time in less than a year, an NU QB has run amok with the law-dog. Patrick Witt clearly lacks the elusiveness of a dual-threat QB as Lincoln police apprehended him after he ran / stumbled away from a residence hall following an audition to appear on COPS: Lincoln : Link: http://www.journalstar.com/articles/2007/1...6c422034471.txt
  4. Enough coach-speak: it's time to call a lemon a lemon. I'm tired of all the lip-service and the "moral victories." Bill Callahan: I got your back. I'm all for you. I have full faith that you will lead us to the promised land of national titles. Kevin Cosgrove: start revising your resume and contact a realtor. Craig Bohl might've given up 40 to Ball St but McBride or Pelini would've resigned on principle had their squads ever turned in such uninspired, misguided performances (two weeks in a row!) At this point, it's become increasingly apparent that Coz is unable to: 1. Put together an effective gameplan for our D 2. React to what the other team's OC is throwing at us and make the necessary adjustments 3. Motivate the Blackshirts You don't get a legacy like we have in the Blackshirts without having guys that would run through a brick wall to try and tackle a rabid pit bull covered in broken glass. We used to get better results from walk-on players from the Panhandle and unheralded, undersized guys with hearts the size of tractors. I'm all for the incredible job this staff has done in recruiting and believe they'll continue to attract top notch talent; but that talent is wasted if we can't get these guys to read / react, handle their assignments, and tackle through anything that comes their way. This means no more blown assignments, missed tackles, arm tackles and so on. After the performances of the past 2 weeks, Charlie McBride would've kept our defense on the field for 2 hours and had em run wind sprints. The current Blackshirts don't have to worry about that. They have coaches who will try to cover for them with coach-speak and vague, posi-spin comments intended to convince us that there's not really a problem and that we're making progress and headed in the right direction.
  5. Coz has to go but never will. That is the risk you take when you have a Head Coach who has the personal relationship Bill has with Coz. I fully believe in and support coach Callahan. I think he has this team headed in the right direction and will win a National Championship in less time than it took Tom. Callahan and his staff have reinvented college recruiting. Form-letters are a thing of the past and this staff played a big part in that sea change. Recruiting at Nebraska is currently as white-hot as it's ever been and to see the importance of winning the recruiting battles off the field we only need to look at what USC did to us with those same recruits they landed instead of us. Callahan is a brilliant head coach and I believe he will have us playing for the championship within the next 4 years. I know that may sound like an eternity but I'm sure there are a lot of schools that would be happy with that prospect right now (just look at notre dame). Coz, on the other hand, is a detriment to our team. We are now 0-13 (under Cally and Co) in games where we head to the locker room trailing. I believe that Coz is incapable of making half-time adjustments. Think back to the Texas Tech debacle. Then think about OK St last year. And how many times were we supposed to let Wake burn us on that end around last week before we adjusted? Same thing with SC and the trap play up the gut. We never adjust to what the other team's doing. I think that Coz is a gambler: he puts together a defensive game-plan in the week before we play a team. If he guesses right, he looks like a genius. If he guesses wrong, he still sticks to that same game-plan and doesn't adjust. If something works against us on the opening drive it will still be there for the other team in the fourth quarter and we still won't have done anything to take it away from them. College football today is too fast and the opposing OC's are too clever and innovative for us to succeed with such a stubborn, inflexible mind guiding our defense.
  6. Sam Keller has such a cannon for an arm, he has to duck after he throws or the ball will hit him in the back of his head!
  7. Welcome Darius! I'll admit I used to be a slave to those little shining stars but I've come to believe this coaching staff has a better eye for talent than the recruiting boards that assign them. They comb the desert and - unlike those guys in Spaceballs - they find stuff. Just look at guys like Will Henry and Adi Kunalic. Guys who fly under the radar and don't get a lot of love from the majors. But once wannabe schools find out we've offered, they rush in with offers just because their coaches know we wouldn't offer unless we knew something they didn't. This guy will be a force to be reckoned with!
  8. I used to blow up GI Joes with firecrackers when I was a kid. That was pretty neato.
  9. "I can never and will never understand tearing the goal posts down AT YOUR OWN STADIUM. What the hell does it mean?" celebration noun 1. a joyful occasion for special festivities to mark some happy event 2. any joyous diversion 3. the public performance of a sacrament or ceremony with all appropriate ritual; "the celebration of an unlikely upset" See also festivus
  10. 95 Nebraska Cornhuskers: best college football team ever assembled. Period. Not only did they have the best players at every position (best QB, best HB's, best OL, best DL, best LB's, etc) but they also had the best coaching staff, led by the best coach who was at the absolute peak of his monumental career! 2002 Buckeyes couldn't have beat the 95 Gators, and we all know what we did to them. Herbstreit also thinks NSYNC would crush ACDC in a battle of the bands. Nice highlights, D-bag!
  11. If we're leading Pete and his Christmas carolers in the 4th Qtr, they're gonna start greasing up the goal posts and beefing up the perimeter with good reason. I will be happy to help bring down the uprights as they're the same ones that witnessed our losses to Texass in 06 and the Oklah*mos in 05. New goal posts for a new era in which the order has been fully restored and all is right in the universe. Sidenote: the atmosphere in Memorial during the pre-fumble 4th Qtr vs UT last year can only be compared to when Eric caught that Blackflash Reverse pass against OU (who was trying to cover him with a down lineman!). In both cases, Memorial might have only been the 3rd largest city in NE but it was the loudest city on the planet!
  12. I just got home from the Wal-Mart (not a plug) @ 182nd & Center with my fresh copy of NCAA 2008 (a must have). While trying not to be obvious about it, it's clear that the attention of the 20 or so people in line was fixed on the big guy at the front of the line (Trevor Robinson). The good news: he was wearing a RED hat. The bad news: it was an Angels hat. I was tempted to ask him which team he was going to use for his Dynasty (you gamers know what I'm talking about) but didn't want to be "the guy" that pushed him to No Dames (worth dating).
