  1. This article from SI.com shows Jeremiah Masoli in a far different light than he has been portrayed by the media. Maybe he deserves a second chance at another school?
  2. Unfortunately, I don't think that Nebraska basketball will ever be consistently good. People will only care about basketball if we're winning consistently.
  3. I read that article and it in no way supports the belief that prayer is effective. An excerpt from the article:
  4. So if I pray for a sick person to heal and he does then God answered my prayer with a yes, but if he doesn't heal then God said no. The problem I have with that is that it is unfalsifiable. You can't prove that God intervened in any way.
  5. He's not saying that there are only 500,000 Husker fans, but that that is how many are going to send him mail if the Huskers win it all.
  6. Keller wasn't hated by the team. I thought everyone said Keller was pretty humble and came in and busted his ass on the scout team the year he had to sit out which earned the team's respect I got my info from BigWillie Posted 11 May 2009 - 02:52 PM Posted 14 May 2009 - 02:31 AM
  7. Joe Ganz? The previous coaching staff wasn't good at telling which of the quarterbacks had the support of the team behind him. Apparently they couldn't tell that Sam Keller was hated by many on the football team and so players wouldn't give 100% effort when playing for him on offense. But with the current staff that won't happen. Team unity is a big thing with Bo and it's very unlikely that the starting QB won't have the support of the team. Thus, Joe Ganz was a unique exception and by no means the rule.
  8. I don't understand this. Every year it seems that people are enamored with the backup quarterback (or in this case the 3rd string quarterback.) And every year he doesn't live up to the hype. You would think that after years and years of going through this that people would learn but I guess not.
  9. I've always wondered what Christian athletes say when they go up against other Christian athletes in competition and don't win despite praying. Do they say, "Did we not pray hard enough?" "Maybe it's God's will to have us lose." Or maybe, "God doesn't love me!" Of course, most of them don't think that prayer is completely pointless and doesn't have any effect on whether they win or not. In fact studies have demonstrated that intercessory prayer doesn't help at all. See link: This won't stop theists from trying
  10. I'm looking forward to a defense that can stop the best running teams in the nation. Last year we used corners at the linebacker position and that just won't cut it against a team like Alabama or Georgia Tech. Of course if our defensive line can shed blocks well enough then linebacker play will not be as important.
  11. Beebe is nothing more than a puppet with a huge forehead on a string.
  12. This isn't a good idea. I think it's inevitable that there will eventually be 16 team super conferences which is going to force the PAC 10 to change its name once again.
  13. I heard that the defense is at a schematic disadvantage during practices. Apparently they are usually in a base cover3 because that's what the coaches like to run to effectively teach players during practices. I think that if Martinez were a starting QB for a team that Nebraska is playing this year, then Pelini would have no trouble stopping him because of his inability to pass.
  14. I don't think that score is likely without a few defensive touchdowns, but given that OSU is going to a Texas Tech style of offense and our defense is made to shut down the pass, I could see something like that. It also helps that Mike Gundy is no Mike Leach and OSU doesn't have as talented quarterbacks or wide receivers as Tech does.
  15. Personally, I think a class should be evaluated a few years down the road. Too much stock is given to Rivals ratings. The people who rank football players for rivals are in this business to sell subscriptions. Thus it benefits them to rate a recruit highly who will not decide until national signing day where he will attend school as opposed to rating a kid highly who decides before his senior season in high school where he will attend. Also, coaching does say a lot about how good a football player will become. For example, the Nebraska coaching staff likes to recruit defensive backs who have good speed and potential rather than just focusing on how awesome their highlight reels are. They believe that they can take these people and turn them into stars, regardless of their Rivals rating. So, is getting ranked in the top 10 in recruiting by Rivals important? I really don't think so. Winning is all that matters. You mentioned that some 11+ win seasons could improve our recruiting as Rivals sees it, but, I would be happy with 11+ win seasons by themselves regardless of how our recruiting is going according to so called experts. It almost seems as if you see winning as a means to get better Rivals recruiting classes instead of a means to get into the national championship game.
  16. On offense I think that Niles Paul will play very well and cut down on mental mistakes. On defense I'm going to go with someone that doesn't get much buzz. I think Terrence Moore starts next to Crick. Moore has great upper body strength and he will be used extensively against power running teams.
  17. After reading this I don't know how our defensive backs could possibly stop Texas' passing game after performing so well against the vaunted Texas State defense.
  18. it is worth watching our defense in that game again. Yeah that's the reason I will watch it. The ending was BS but it may be a long time until our defense gets nine sacks again.
  19. The Big 12 championship game is on today on ESPNU at 12:00 PM Central time. Maybe they will win this time...
  20. WHY ARE YOU YELLING? But, seriously, Nebraska didn't do anything. Although an argument could be made that Colorado and Missouri broke up the Big 12 with Missouri getting the short end of the stick.
  21. You're stuck in the past, my friend. Eyeballing is the future.
  22. Who are these scientists that you wrote about? I could easily find scientists who don't believe in a god and believe that everything has come about from natural processes. So relying on scientists in general to prove that God exists is, in my opinion, quite amusing. There is no reason to rely on miracles to fill possible gaps in our knowledge. Thousands of years ago miracles and divinities were presented as explanations for almost every natural occurrence, but as time has gone by most people have accepted scientific explanations for most things. Besides, I have never heard of a single miracle that couldn't be explained logically without the need to say, "look everybody, it's God!"
  23. If I didn't know better, I would assume that the only reason you're on this board is to pimp your site.
  24. I'm really impressed with what the coaching staff has been able to accomplish in the last month. Putting us in the lead to sign two very good football players is no small task.
  25. The guilt you feel is not due to evolutionary processes. That is nothing less than 1000's of years of Christian theology bearing down upon you and making you feel great shame. Some religions encourage multiple spouses and most of those that practice polygamy don't feel shame like you would feel if you were a polygamist.
