  1. For those that say we need to "crank it up", I used to work ROTC security in the North stadium shortly after they installed the system. I couldn't count the number of little old ladies that would come up to me and ask me if they could turn down the music... Now, just imagine if we doubled the decibels how many times the paramedics would be climbing those stairs!! I think they actually should put another set of speakers on the other side of the stadium. They already have to delay the video so the audio/video looks somewhat synchronized for the people in the south stadium. If we had a second set of speakers, then they could keep the current sound level the same for both sets and the place would be really rockin'!
  2. I remember reports like this last year...Bo eventually turned things around. It happens, it's just good that Bo recognizes it and is working to correct it.
  3. Ummm..... WRONG... That was just an intro to the same tunnel walk we have always had. You must not have listened past :20 in the video...everything past "let the games begin" is all Mikey Bo, and NOT Sirius... You may not know this unless you haven't been to a game since TO came back and changed the audio/video to the tunnel walk mid-2007. After seeing the lame video during Cally's era and TO changing it to "Tradition" that year, I knew the order was restored. Sirius is part of the order being restored, and I don't want our team to make the same mistake. PS - I heard that Sirius was costing the university a LOT of money to license, and that was part of the reason to change to Mikey Bo's version, but I think that the money is well spent for us to have it as part of every Husker game. I still get chills every time I hear it.
  4. Holy crap - are peoples' memories that short?? We DID change it to this: And now, we're back after the old regime completely dismantled all of our tradition. The tunnel walk song is now part of our tradition, and I hope it never changes, EVER, EVER!!!
  5. http://omaha.com/index.php?u_page=3918&u_sid=10558457 He was the OWH Athlete of the Year with Nebraska's cream-of-the-crop athletes. You may not think it's a big deal, but he is one heck of an athlete, and could have done a lot of good for the program. The program would have been good for his development too. Hope things work out for him...
  6. What about Suuuuuuuhhhhh opening up holes for us in the power I??? (Just kidding - that was only in short-yardage situations, and you've got to look out for the big guy going out for a pass now!!)
  7. uh.. pay attention much? nearly a month ago... Iowa was unranked (they were on the edge of cracking the poll) going into the bowls, they didn't update the polls until AFTER the bowls. wasn't one week to the next, it was from the last week of regular season games until the smoke cleared from the bowl games. I was nice to see them ranked at #20. BTW- I too wanted a hawk/husker matchup!! Oh sorry - I should have said "Iowa was NEVER ranked this year (preseason and regular season), and with a win against a sub-par opponent, they jump to #20". Happy?
  8. no doubt a big win, but they struggled badly the first of the year. uh... wrong. first of the year? Iowa beat three creampuffs to a pulp to go 3-0. week four they lost to a ranked Pitt team by one point. Losing four games all season by a total of 12 points isn't struggling. More like crappy luck. QB turnovers were the bulk of the problem, 3 each vs Pitt, Illinois and Mich ST., 5 vs NW, but as Stanzi started getting his shiite together, the hawks started rolling. #33 in scoring offense 30.3 ppg. the defense was SOLID all season. Nationally, #5 in scoring defense and #12 in total defense. ok I forgot their impressive win against ISU Oh i forgot how great the Big 10 was this year, they deserve their ranking then, my bad not saying they should not be ranked, but I did think #20 was high and was surprised that NU did not get more votes, but damn the man anyway. Iowa beat SC, who was beat pretty soundly by Clemson just a month ago. I wanted the Iowa-Nebraska matchup SO BAD this year, but no dice. My father-in-law is an ISU fan, so he's supposedly an impartial judge, and he said that he watched both games, and we would have lost against the Choke-eyes. NO WAY. I think Clemson and Iowa are probably about equal - good running game, decent defense. We would have approached it the same way - shut down Greene and the O folds. Our O would have scored about the same number of points, and we would have been #24 on the polls. Iowa unranked one week and breaking the polls at 20 after a win against a sub-par opponent is a joke...
  9. I thought this was Hugh Hefner until I saw your name.. I have to admit that I feel a little more upbeat about the outlook after seeing that we sold out of our original allotment, and we're maybe 3K away from a sellout, but I'm Sooooo used to selling out Memorial Stadium. I can't help but think that it won't be the same without an overwhelming Husker crowd. I don't think I could live with myself if Clemson outsells the Husker nation - regardless of travel distance or economic hardship. I'm not rich by any means, but c'mon, I gotta support Bo and the turnaround he created this year. I hate to hear the excuses, I just wanna see the results. GBR!!
  10. Tons of tickets available - through the Gator Bowl website, through Huskers.com, through countless resale sites. I thought this was going to be a hard ticket to come by, as I've always been told Husker fans "travel well". It was one of the reasons why we were picked by the Gator Bowl and are playing in 2009, yet it doesn't look like it's a sellout (yet). With 1 1/2 weeks remaining, are Husker fans going to step up and paint the stadium red? I've seen tickets being sold BELOW face value with not a lot of interest. After Callahan missed 2/4 bowl seasons, I was really excited to be part of my first bowl game, yet I almost feel like it will be embarrassing to show up and NOT have a Husker majority in Jacksonville. All you true Husker fans better grow a pair and show up for your team, and no "the economy's bad" excuses. If that's your argument, do something about the economy and SPEND YOUR MONEY - I can't think of a better way right now than a trip to sunny Florida.
  11. I've got 2 tickets in section 241 row C - selling for face value $60 per ticket. IM me or email me at sale-967176549@craigslist.org
  12. Scott Frost from Northern Iowa?
  13. You bought directly from the Gator bowl, not the University though, right?
  14. I jumped at the opportunity to go to our first bowl game (wife and I). I am part of that allotment, but has anyone gotten their tickets yet? They sent an e-mail stating that they have been sent out, but I have yet to receive mine. I was also wondering how good these tickets are. Going on Stubhub, it seems like people were getting VERY good tickets directly from the Gator Bowl website, so I'm now questioning where our tickets will end up, and if we will not have very good seats. Does anyone know what sections were allotted to the university?
  15. Good post - glad to hear you could spend a special day with your dad. PS - I'm from Crete too, but I'm class of 1993.
  16. Maybe you could explain why it is bad to have high expectations? What is the point of goal setting if you don't set something that is tough to attain? Setting the bar low just leads to no progress.. if there is nothing tough in reaching the goals that are set there is no pride in reaching them. I have a feeling that Bo may tell you the same thing... I'm not saying we shouldn't set the bar high - Osborne laid it on the line when he fired Callahan. He said losing seasons are unacceptable. Bo has said that he wants to put a quality product on the field. He also said that his goal is to have the guys on the field live up to their potential. My beef isn't with people who expect the team to win games, because they should. But, I think Bo as well as TO would say that all they can ask is for their guys to go out on the field and give their 100% effort. Any fan who EXPECTS a National Championship is delusional. Put that shoe on the other foot - any coach who said they guarantee a National Championship or a Big XII championship would be executed in the media. All they can ask for is the guys to give their all, and to always be improving, and the score will take care of itself. Bo absolutely should shoot for as many wins as he can garner, and should expect a high level of effort, but if success is measured in 10 wins per season or a Big XII championship by year 2, then we're setting ourselves up for failure, and I would think that managing expectations and over-delivering is a better position than the contrary (like Callahan year 4 - expecting Big XII championship and ending up in a losing season). If you don't think that the really good teams don't put NC on their "Goals" board at the beginning of the season then you are nuts. TO's teams did that a lot in the 90's, goals included Big VIII/XII title and NC. I guarantee you that Big XII title was on the goals list this year and in a few years Bo will have the other on their as well. Goals are different than expectations - you should set your goals high, but you should never miss your expectations. Coaches always say they focus on the things they can control, and let everyone else focus on the things they can't. If they have their eye on the NC at the beginning of the year, there will always be a team that will knock you off that horse because you weren't focusing on the week at hand. TO and EVERY coach will tell you that, and we've seen that time and time again in NCAA FB. Hell, Michigan was taking Appalachian State for granted, they were taking bowl games for granted EVERY year - we took Ball State for granted last year. We could go on and on. Most good coaches focus on the current week instead of predicting championships.

  18. I'm constantly amazed at the astronomical expectations of the Husker Nation. It's unrealistic to expect a Big XII championship and gunning for the BCS Championship every year. I think that perception gives Husker fans a bad name, as they sometimes go overboard with their demands from the program. The last 4 years should have shown Husker fans to appreciate a program that is competitive every year. Osborne "couldn't win the big one" for years, and was criticized up and down until he did. In today's football climate, my expectations are to be competitive in the Big XII, a winning record every year, and I gotta leave it at that. Of course I would want to see all the rest of that happen, but it's time for Husker fans to realize the difficulty of what they ask for, and be satisfied with hard work, dedication, fulfilling their potential, and giving a great effort on the field - all of which Bo has brought to the program in less than a year. For that, he gets my vote for "Much Better than Expected". Any other program would expect a brand new coach to do marginally better than the predecessor the first year they step in office. Implementing new schemes, breaking down bad habits and building good ones, working with people that may or may not fit your ideal, etc. Bo has done something 99% of the sinking programs in the nation would kill for. Let's not get back into the mode we were with Solich - having a good program but setting the bar extremely high and demanding too much, otherwise we will be looking for another coach in 6 years, and we may get another Callahan/Weis.
  19. It seems like almost every game I've been to, on the field, the opposing team and the home team are separated by the 50 yard line. At least in the NFL, they made it a hard rule that people weren't supposed to be going over to the opposing side of the field. Unless the captains on the teams came to the middle of the field and someone spit on him then, I don't think our players had the opportunity to spit on him. And I don't think one of our guys would spit on him if there was a referee flipping a coin right next to him. This all sounds a bit fishy to me, and sounds like someone has an active imagination.
  20. Was it just me, or did it seem like their QB was throwing in Cody's direction a lot - intentionally picking on that matchup? Cody held his own for the most part, but as a lot of you have said, he did get burned a couple of times. Excellent effort on his part, and I knew he was going to be a stud at that position judging by preseason practice reports, etc. Yes, we have a rather inexperienced LB corps, but Cody looks to be stepping things up and making plays, which is something we didn't see from last year's lineup.
  21. It's amazing to me how out of touch with reality people become when they drool over the media's hype. Have you stopped taking trips to the grocery store because gas prices are too high? Have you stopped going to movies, buying video games, etc because of gas prices? Americans are going to get their entertainment, and the increase in gas prices will have little effect on their everyday lives. They may not drive down to Disney this year because of it, but Americans don't change their buying patterns until they absolutely need to. When gas goes over $5 per gallon, you MIGHT see a change. Otherwise, we are going to get record attendance at the games this year.
