  1. Do they really talk that way or were a few words left out? Man, that transcript was hard to read. I really hope that a Nebraska fan didnt write that, they spelled Ameer wrong (Amir)...
  2. I fail to see how the very first game a coach coaches at a new school can be a catastrophic loss when it's against a decent team like BYU. It would suck. But, it would do nothing to define how the rest of the season would go or Riley's tenure here. Considering that there's some who still want bo here, and some that aren't exactly sold on Riley... Breaking the 2nd to last streak we have going as a time, to a mid-major, while ushering in a new era would be a horrible start. but...but... they're independent!
  3. Hmm? I live in southwest Missouri (less than 2 hours from Arkansas campus), and nobody around here even says that.... Fayetteville is a great college town; SEC vibe, gorgeous campus, and beautiful women. I could see why many would call that their dream school. He might be saying what razorback fans want to hear too..who knows.
  4. Did Bo forget to take his cat with him?
  5. If either one of these guys wins the Republican nomination - I'll have to vote elsewhere. Beginning to lose faith.
  6. For the most part this board is pretty fair. Could be worse, this could be run like shaggybevo - where the team sucks and our Texas economy is close to follow. Makes for entertaining (in a crude kind of way) conversation.
  7. Unless this has been recently changed, I believe there are already consequences for students on federal aid that fail drug test. http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/ondcp/recovery/fafsa.pdf
  8. I mean the fact that the bowl is sponsored by adidas, it must be a sign....
  9. I don't believe so. I remember reading an article a while back, sorry can't remember the source, that mentioned this was the first time in modern era. Definitely sets a dangerous precedent. <--- shocking statement coming from a conservative Texan, I know.
  10. So, damned if its high, damned if its low? I call BS. What it is doing is bringing down stock prices is some industries and thus the spreadsheet value of the wealthy. Higher gas prices are not just at the pump, they get passed along to every other consumer product as well. Everything is delivered by a gas/diesel powered truck. If oil prices were the only thing a country's economy is based on, then that's their own damned fault. The irony of your last sentence.... you do realize that each of the 10 states in the US, where hydrocarbon production has increased since the recession, has experienced greater employment growth than the US overall? Not only that but were looking at a loss of nearly 1 million jobs related to the oil industry and these aren't the c-suite execs with money tucked away for years, no these are the GED/high school degree roughnecks working on the rigs. Foreign investors will all but exit and the Saudis will artificially keep the prices lower. Then there is the whole Energy Junk bond crisis, where roughly 30% of the energy junk bonds will default. Energy junk bonds account for 22% of the junk bond market (hello banks, asset managers, and retirement plans). All at the same time, the wealth will just transfer from the energy industry to the airline industry - dont expect them to drop prices anytime soon - as they are expecting record profits this year.
  11. Lower oil prices will lead to a trillion dollar loss to the global economy. While the decrease in prices at the pump might be nice, it is a bit narrow sighted to think there will be no ramifications. That amount of loss to a fragile global economy is a scary thing.

  13. http://www.amazon.com/Nike-Nebraska-Cornhuskers-Johnny-Rodgers/dp/images/B000CDXVCO I think these jerseys came out about 5-10 years ago. They were obviously a hot item, cant find them anywhere. There is one XXL on ebay, but a little big for me. I would be interested in paying good money for a large if anyone has one
  14. Solid point. This could reduce parity and give an edge back to the schools that can afford it (e.g., Nebraska). Add to the fact that the NCAA is essentially retuning Prop 48 with their academic redshirt rule in 2016, and we could have a recipe for Nebraska to return to prominence. What is prop 48? nvm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proposition_48_%28NCAA%29 Someone on wikipedia needs to edit their page, a 52 on an ACT...that's unheard of.
  15. Couple things bud. 1) If you just fired a hot headed coach, why the hell would SE go after another individual who's personality is similar? Doesn't really make a lot of sense, to talk about how you're looking to change the mentality of the program, yet hire someone like Harbaugh after letting Bo go. Talk about a quick way to lose credibility. 2) You're quote about Riley only wins one of the games we lost this year due to coaching is laughable. He wins at least two of those, thinking Minnesota and USC. But I know that doesn't fit the doom and gloom narrative you're proclaiming we will have at UNL. I don't know you guys, probably won't watch any games next year. I'm just going to buy 30 team tix for Michigan for the B1G and National Championship game so I can profit off their guaranteed success with Harbaugh at the helm.
  16. Do you think Les was happy after the game? I mean, good god - great for Michigan but honestly how do we know Harbaugh is going to be any better than Riley? Is it really having balls, or stupidity - we won't know for a while. As someone mentioned above, why don't we wait a couple years before we burn down Memorial Stadium and call it quits? I'm so tired seeing people write the team off for the next few years because of this hire. No one knows whether or not this will be a bad, decent, or exceptional hire. I can tell you one thing, no one will fess up to ripping the hire if Riley returns us to the promise land.
  17. No matter what happens in the future its hard to argue that every coach on the new staff isn't better than the same position on the old staff. Banker may not be the answer... Pap (I mean Bo) wasn't anything great. Pap was basically a wasted coaching position because Bo overruled anything he said. Bo didn't have his hand in the O as much but as we know he liked to force play calls (like the pass on 2nd and 1 vs Minn) or dictate starters (Taylor, M Pelini, et al). Let's give Riley a chance... he already has more wins vs. top 10 opponents than NU does in this millenium. But save your remarks about how you can't recruit at Nebraska... blah blah. Really, that's hard to argue? You know nothing about how these new coaches will perform. Won't you be ripping into them if we lose to BYU? Tell me where I'm wrong. Riley vs Bo Banker vs Pap/Bo Bray vs Els Warren vs Warren (plus a year experience and no micromanagement. ) Cavanaugh vs Garrison or Barney (with Bo meddling with starters) Read vs Els (special teams) It seems that Riley's staff is both more experienced and organized better than Bo's was. From what I have seen the only place we won't be better is at RB coach. But that's thr least important position (RBs either have talent or they don't for the most part) on the staff and should be a great recruiter. Brown didn't put as much into recruiting as he used to. All that being said coaching improvements alone may not have measurable results. If we lose to BYU then I will place blame where it is deserved. Brown has never been a good recruiter as he doesn't believe in putting in those kind of hours. Each coach deserves six years before they are judged on thier results. The first four they have to deal with what was left by the previous coaching staff, which may be good (Tom for Frank) or bad (Frank for Bill). Two years after the previous coaches last recruiting class should give you a good idea of what that staff will bring you in the future. first four years you are going to give the new guys a pass altogether?.........wow, seems after 2 or 3 you should see some real improvement, as half the guys playing will be recruited and coached up by the new coaches........4-6 years the pattern is set...without a doubt, but things should show steady improvement way before then....i want to see that steady improvement in the first 4 years, old recruits or not! and seeing that the bad coaches consistently won 9 or more games a year, the new improved coaching staff should at least match that number the first two or three years and after that need to win the BIG and play in the national championship playoff- I'd say that is the minimum expectation Lol. Pretty lofty standards for "minimum expectation". I'd hate to see what your normal expectations are, maybe national championships every year and ending world hunger? Cheer up bud, everything will work itself out.
  18. OH NO! IT'S A PERSON WHO UNDERSTANDS LAW! Actually two lawyers and not very good lawyers to boot, for those who actually do understand contract law If we're talking contract law, in the sense of Bo's contract, you do realize that was pre-Eichorst? So that would be Perlman and Osborne, who didn't understand it. Makes sense, since one of those was a member of US Congress.
