  1. Playing this team's offense was supposed to be a confidence builder for our defense. Not the other way around.
  2. God, Martinez is not the problem, he actually played a decent half against an elite defense.... OUR DEFENSE IS THE PROBLEM.
  3. I can't be the only Final Fantasy nerd around here...
  4. Wow, another example of frustration boiling over from one of the defensive backups. I understand having a competitive streak and getting frustrated at what must feel like being overlooked, but you've got to show a little more maturity than that...
  5. Keep Compton at LB and Meredith at DE, and that is a lineup I would love to see them try out.
  6. And for the sake of balance, while I really thought Beck made some bad choices getting away from what was working on offense, I also remember that the first and third interceptions in particular were because Taylor threw a couple of wildly inaccurate passes, so it's tough to pin that on Beck. Hopefully everybody learns from their mistakes this week and we go out there and tear tOSU a new one.
  7. You'll have to forgive me if I'm misremembering, but it seemed to me that about halfway through our passing binge, Wisconsin was only rushing four and even three a couple of times.
  8. The thing is, Beck had the offense clicking to start the game. A couple of penalties, a couple of stuff runs and he completely abandoned what had already put 14 points on the board, and instead made the worst possible use of his resources by putting Taylor in the pocket over and over and over again. He deserves most of the criticism he's getting. That said, I love pretty much everything he has done with the offense so far. Those option/screen pass plays he ran with Turner... that is great stuff. More of that type of play calling please, and less throwing over and over again into defenses with 7 and 8 guys dropping back.
  9. Yes, I think the Pelinis are being stubborn, but with good reason. Bo has a defensive philosophy with a very successful track record, and he plans on sticking to it. There might be some growing pains, but it is in the long term best interests of those specific players and of the defense in general for them to learn what is expected from them in this scheme. You dumb it down and maybe you get guys executing better, but what they're executing is a mediocre defense. I'd rather they take some lumps now if it will pay dividends for these young guys down the road.
  10. You could maybe drop us a few more spots, but as bad as things went in the last 35 minutes of last night's game, this team has played a relatively strong schedule (according to Sagarin) and is carrying a single loss to the now #4 team in the country, so 14 doesn't seem too out of line to me.
  11. Losses by other top 15 teams will keep us from dropping too far. I say 13 or 14.
  12. Just got done reading this, and yes, yes he did.
  13. Well, I didn't get up til 6, but yeah, I'm pretty much right there with you. Need to figure out what the heck I'm gonna do to kill the next 11 hours as fast as possible.
  14. An ideal trait in a quarterback, if you ask me.
  15. Mark, I think that's underrating the boys, but everyone's entitled to their opinion. Wisconsin has looked like a juggernaut, but bear in mind that they've played pretty much literally the weakest non-conference schedule in the FBS this season. No doubt they're a great football team, and they're extremely tough to beat at home, but our guys have been tested and are improving every game. Saturday can't get here fast enough for me.
  16. That this team seems to keep getting better every week. Bring on Wisconsin
