  1. Mendoza is redshirting this year. Callahan almost pulled it midway though the year but he didnt I specifically remember driving to the aTm game and hearing them debate on the radio what good it'd do to pull Mendoza's redshirt at that point. He apparently still had it then....and I don't recall seeing him play after that.
  2. It's possible he'll be able to pitch the new coach to the recruits by then. I heard Sean Calahan on the radio saying that he's going to specifically talking to in-state kids. Collins Okafor is one that has said he hasn't been contacted since the coaching shake-up and is starting to get concerned.
  3. Why? He'll do fine. Because T.O.'s last homeboy hook-up didn't exactly go swimmingly. If this home-boy gets to pick his own assistants, and has a commitment to recruiting (which it seems he will), things will be ok.
  4. Same Guy. And this is a problem? Is he on someone's radar for NU? What is his story? Why did he go from Greenbay to Texas? And was it a job demotion? Well, either he could be a colossal failure or a shining success... Unlike Cally, Sherman actually posted several winning seasons as a HC in the pro game. 5 of his six years in fact. Couple of 12 win years if I remember correctly. I don't know why Green Bay let him go. Just had the thought we might have to compete against him...... It helps that he inherited a heckuva strong team, with brett faver at the helm. Sherman really didn't do a lot with the puckers. I look forward to watching him dismantle any progress that franchione did at aTm.
  5. I guess one thing I wonder about with Gill, is who will his staff be? I'm not sold on Jimmy Williams as a DC.
  6. I just question if Watson would be a West Coast callahan clone. Is he stuck on running that forever, or would he change it to suit the personnel?
  7. Frost played DB in the pros. That's where his main talent lies--not QB. He was a great college QB...but he hasn't played or coached it in many years. Even his coaching experience is defense.
  8. I hope so...but I don't see Gill taking a demotion. He could have been OC somewhere, but he stuck it out until he got a HC job--even HC of a horrible Buffalo team.
  9. yeah right, and we're going to stop reading about every rumor that comes long? People want to know what's happening...that's what the media tries to find out.
  10. I don't understand why he's a DE. He's big enough he should be playing tackle, and let someone with speed play end.
  11. Too bad. He won the Heisman for me in last year's version of NCAA football.
  12. I'll go with that. McKeon was a 3rd year starter. I expected big things of him. Maybe it was just his big mouth that gave us hope.
  13. punctuation, dude...punctuation. paragraph breaks--and paragraph breaks are good.
  14. I personally liked it. Unfortunately I can't get myself to say it after hearing it was a pedey thing.
  15. I think it's the system. And it's unfortunate. The guy is a good athlete--he's proved that on returning fumbles for touchdowns. I think with some better coaching he could have developed into an NFL quality player.
  16. Exactly. People are still probably thinking it was karma that Callahan didn't work out after Solich was fired for winning 9 games.
  17. where do i send my check for $37.50?......i will pay up for all 5 years, right now! Let me get you my paypal account. I'll hold it for you until it's needed.
  18. That would give me a much, much deeper level of respect for Dan Hawkins if he did that.
  19. I get the feeling that he'll be sticking around for a few years. He's not the long-term AD, but it'll be a couple of years.
  20. It makes for a good story. He was so good here as a player. It would be a cool story to see him "come home" to NU. We've had 4 years of the big city guy running the program into the ground. We all hope that by getting back to the "Nebraska Way" that Gill would turn things around.
  21. Blow out and the whole stall can start packing as soon as they get back to Lincoln. Actually any loss. Win and maybe we keep one or two of the staff but I think Call's gone irregardless. Cos can start packing right now. Even in the win over KSU the "D" still pretty much stunk. ...T_O_B I hope it's like tribal council on survivor. I hope they take their things with 'em and after it's over TO just sends 'em packing w/out even going back to the camp. "Coz and Billy....the tribe has spoken..." and then TO snuffs out their torches.
  22. The problem with your KU analogy is that there are vastly different expectations between KU and Nebraska. Mangino had all the time in the world to make that sow's ear into a silk purse because they hadn't done anything in the past umpteen years. Another problem with your analogy is that KU is far more likely to be 6-6 next year than 10-0, based on their past history. Teams play over their heads every year. Clearly KU is doing that this year. You simply cannot expect that to happen year in and year out. That's a complete apples to oranges comparison, clone. Callahan took over a program that was down...but wasn't where KU was when Mangino took over. Mangino also hasn't near the "quality" of recruiting classes that callahan has had.
  23. I still think Keller could have been really, really good this year. I question Callahan's ability to implement a system that is simple enough to use the talent he has. I think if Keller had had a couple of years in the system he'd have done that, too.
  24. In hindsight, Solich was a better pick than Callahan was. I am no way saying TO is infallible nor a Solich apologist, but I would trust what TO says and does over anyone else..........even myself. I agree--he was better. He might have done in 10 years what callahan did in 4. Or he might have figured things out and NU would be a top 5 team right now. Hard to say. But he shouldn't have handcuffed him with the old assistants. That was my point.
