  1. I root for CU to lose every conference game every single season. I really enjoyed their last season, lol. Damn, I always thought we got a bit of sympathy from you guys when we played Texas Tech, I thought they were potentially getting close in hatred from you guys. I did root for you guys this year against USC, because I am already sick of them, and I did pull for you to whip Touchdown Jesus. Nah...with mccartney trying to call us a "rivalry" and then skippy and barnett? Now zenmaster hawkins? I just out and out hate CU. Winning a national championship in the 90's with a loss and a tie? You barely beat misery on a 5th down. CU is the red-headed stepchild to NU. Thanks to cally and co now NU is losing it's birthright as the top program in the North, though. LOL "trying to call us a rivalry"..... Yea, you're right, no rivalry here, nothing to see here....lol We went 10-1-1 to win the NC, and we can rehash 5th down whenever you want. Actually, CU's record that year was 11-1-1. They won a share of the title with GA Tech. GA Tech was 11-0-1 that year. That beats 10-2-1. They deserved the full title. And yes...it's been documented that Colorado scored a touchdown on the 5th down. The officials made a mistake. They never should have gotten a chance to run the play. They lost. It's that simple. To a bad missouri team. At least when the Huskers beat Misery with the miracle catch in 1997 they did it within the confines of the rulebook.

  3. Ignoring your boss after a bad showing? Interesting. He's his boss. The least he could have done was maybe turn his head and acknowledge his presence. If I didn't have time for my boss I at least maybe give an excuse. Maybe he had to get inside for something...fine. He should have at least made that clear that he was in a hurry for a reason. Tom's only his boss for 2 more weeks and everyone in the solar system knows it. I don't much care if he's a short-timer or not. You should just plain respect your boss and make time for him/her. I'm not going to blow this out of proportion, but plain and simple, he should have at least made some sort of acknowledgement that TO was there instead of storming past him. He showed a lack of class.

  5. I don't want a guy that had Coz as his DC. I got a lot of respect for Barry, but I'm just saying...
  6. That's kind of why I asked. By brother-in-law lived in Wisconsin up until a couple of years ago and according to my wife, he thought Cos did a good job. My brother-in-law is pretty sports savvy.....I think No disrespect toward Wisconsin...but they've never really been a national powerhouse of 30 years + consective top 25 rankings. They've always been good...but they just don't have the tradition that NU has. Cosgrove is probably a serviceable DC to a place that doesn't expect perfection. We've been spoiled the last 35 years. We expect more.
  7. KU. Misery doesn't have a chance at the national championship. KU is still undefeated. I think it'd be a helluva cinderella story to see them win it. If it was KSU or CU? No chance. I just hate them. But I've never had any animosity toward KU.
  8. Saban is a defensive coach. Elmo probably didn't dictate the scheme if Saban was over him.
  9. I'd be curious to see an analysis of number of possessions to TD's scored. We definitely had enough chances to score.
  10. I'm thinking it might be a helluva game. discuss...
  11. I don't know that it's true that they line up a yard off, but I wouldn't be surprised. I know the defensive philosophy is to engage the offensive lineman and then read/react to the play. Perhaps the theory is that it allows them to get their hands on the OL. A read/react defense would also be why our defense has been very unproductive on sacknig the QB. I think the previous scheme was to just line up and try to get gap penetration--thereby getting into the backfield and disrupting the play. In that case, it'd be better to get past the lineman before he got his hands on you.
  12. Sadly, that is very good advice. I really hope that we as fans will just let the season play out and not make this personal to the Callahan or Cosgrove Families. Even though they suck as coaches, they are fathers and husbands and I would hate for someone to treat my family like s*** even though I suck at what I did for a living. While I agree with that on premise, I will point out that you are probably not a public figure making 1.5 million a year dismantling quite possibly the single most endearing thing that a whole lot of Nebraskans get their identity from.
  13. Sad thing is that in callahan's 4th year, with his players and his system, he's having a worse season than the initial 5-6 season while trying to put square pegs in round holes.
  14. At that point, KU hadn't really stopped the husker offense, and callahan hadn't given up yet. I don't blame 'em. It's not like they were throwing deep on every play. They were running the ball for the most part.
  15. I love the Huskers as much as the next guy, and would like to see a silver lining in everything, but what has anyone seen that leads them to believe that it might NOT be 70-0? Yes, they played tejas tight last week...but tejas has a track record of under-achieving. Yes, it might be a tight game...NU might even win. But 70-0 might happen, as well.
  16. I don't much care if they throw it 70 times or 7 times a game as long as it's effective, controls time of possession, and is able to score enough if the defense has a bad day and they get down by 14.
  17. they should just have a delivery room on campus so the fetuses could be inserted directly into the weight program. They would probably outlift some of our current linebackers . . . what do you mean "probably"? I'm guessing the girls they got the uniforms from could probably outlift 'em.
  18. I just can't stand to hear him trying to come up with clever ways of saying the obvious. That, and it's just hard to get a grasp on what's actually happening...he says one thing, then another...then another.
  19. I believe I recall reading a newspaper article awhile back that he's a baseball player. I don't know if he'll play for NU or not.
  20. Being in a small state doesn't necessarily mean that we're at too much of a disadvantage. We only have 1 Division 1 school. Tejas has several schools competing for those recruits--in addition to other schools not in the state, but in the region.
  21. The last few coaches that NU has had were offensive coaches. During the glory days of the 90's, TO was HC. You don't have to have a defensive HC to have a good defense--you just need to have the right guy running the defense. It also helps to have an offense that can maintain possession.
  22. That would be The late, great Brook Berringer. One cannot forget however when Berringer went down with a collapsed lung when Matt Turmun (or is it Turmon) took over against KSU. I have the utmost faith in Joe Ganz. Win or lose he's going to have the team behind him. I have having Keller out for the remainder of the season with a broken collarbone, but in a way it's in our favor to have Ganz starting against Kansas because Kansas doesn't have a lot of game film to look at. GO GET 'EM JOE!! When Berringer went down with a collapsed lung against Wyoming, Matt "The Turmanator" Turman started the next week against K-State. He played for a half, and Berringer relieved him in the 2nd half.
  23. He's not prepared to coach. Having not done it for 10 years, I don't think he'd be able to get up to speed in time. Yes, he was a great coach--but he's just not ready to do it. And, of course, what recruit would want to come to NU knowing that the coach is only there for 1 year? No. He'll find a new coach, and possibly mentor him as needed.
  24. I said it before in another thread, but I totally agree with this sentiment. If Coach Gill keeps improving I think he's destined to be the HC back home here at Nebraska. But he needs more time to develop before taking over the reins. Time and "seasoning" are all that's keeping him from wearing the headphones here. That's my take. Gill would be considered an up and coming coach. He has as much experience as Meyer did when he took over Utah and more then Pelini has now. I do not understand all this sentiment to brush Gill aside. I not endorsing the guy for the Head Coach job, but I would give him a hard look if I were an AD. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Gill actually spent time as a a coordinator before making the jump to HC, did he? He was moved to receivers coach when callahan came in, then bounced around to a few places before landing the Buffalo gig. I would think that Pellini's time as DC of a major program would certainly be equivalent to Gill's 1.5 years of HC experience at a perennial bottom 20 team.
